  • John from www.growingyour... shows you how you can grow more KangKong aka Water Spinach aka Ong Choy aka Ipomoea Aquatica than you can eat in Soil.
In this episode, you will learn more about the easiest to grow vegetables - Chinese Water Spinach that grows easily from cuttings you can buy at an Asian market.
You will learn why growing this vegetable is illegal to grow in some states, and how the USDA classifies it as a Noxious Weed. You will learn how this leafy green vegetable can fetch up to $20 a pound, due to its legal status.
You will discover some of the finer growing techniques of growing water spinach so you can double its zinc content, and increase other minerals in the plant by simply inoculating your roots with mycorrhizae.
You will learn how John easy roots cuttings or shoots of the water spinach that he purchased at the grocery store so he can grow more water spinach without having to buy seeds or starter plants.
You will learn the temperature required to grow water spinach. This is truly a heat-loving plant and does not appreciate temperatures below 65 degrees.
You will discover some of the nutritional benefits of eating the water spinach and why you may not want to cook this nutritious vegetable. You will discover how John prefers to eat this vegetable.
You will learn how much to water the water spinach and the temperature variation of a concrete block wall and the water spinach leaves and how the plant is able to keep itself cool in the hot summer.
You will learn 3 different methods for growing water spinach and why each method may be beneficial for you, depending on your specific situation.
After watching this episode, you will learn more about one of the easiest to grow vegetables in existence and how to have an endless supply of this delicious leafy green all summer long.

Hey John, I am in SoCal. I bought this OngChoy or Kangkong in Asian supermarket. I saved the cutting and grow them in water first for a week until the stems grow a little roots. I planted them in a 12 inch pot spaced about 2 inches apart. The first harvest took around 5 weeks then every 3 weeks thereafter. I harvested 3 times so far from the original cuttings. It's very easy to grow. Just fertilize the soil after harvesting and water everyday.

It is delicious. We eat it all the time in Taiwan. It is called Kong Qing Tsai. A little garlic, olive oil, and salt, less than 10 minutes on the stove top and voila. I have been eating it for 7 years. It tastes “softer” than spinach. The USDA is part of the establishment and therefore suspect.

I found Water Spinach a few years ago. It is legal in my state. I love it. When I eat it my skin feels softer I sleep when I normally don't. It makes me feel better. I just took a bunch of cuttings indoors since it will not stand a hard frost. I bought hundreds of seeds freely on Amazon and Ebay. I have no problems at all.... It was under 60 degrees last night and I have some still alive..... I really does grow like a WEED.... It will grow in water.... Try it. Nice video...

It grows super easily from cuttings if you can get it from your market. Just as many other plants can be grown from cuttings or roots. It actually is difficult to keep alive in CA if you do not water it. It is delicious though. If the season is long enough, mine do eventually produce flowers and seed. I do not get seed every year, especially if I am harvesting heavily. But the seeds seem to stay viable for awhile.

All over S America, the single one country that places heavy control on border food check is Chile. Their govt models again on neoliberal economy. Big business (which benefits a small group of politically tight knitted families) calls the shot. Everywhere else in S America ppl mostly practise small and medium size farming has no equivalent border restriction both in manner of stringency and official zealotry.
