    Videos are best when based on facts. Loved this fact loaded video. Great work. imho - I am in the school that you have to be have done the most for your team by the stats. If your impact is the greatest in the league, you are therefore the most valuable. There is no hard fast rule on the team's finish because this is a player, not team based award. People create that kind of additional criteria to make their choices seem more merited. Subscribed and looking forward to more from you. Go CC!

    Rebounds she is 1st among all guards in rebounds and blocks. Clark has been dealing with a ruptured ear drum since game 3 and off and on Migraines all season. It takes 2-3 month for a ruptured ear drum to fully heal in normal conditions, but she’s got crowd noise and multiple hits to head since then. You can see her almost every game putting her finger in her ear and wiggling like do if it has water in it. That can affect your equilibrium and range shooting. Hopefully it can finish healing during break and it will improve her 3 point shot.

      Considering the #1 leader of assist was a PF yeah okay ... its not much to say when a PF not PG was the #1 leader in assist. However if you match her turnover ratio with assist she not top 5. Think about it this way for every turnover she make per game subtract the assist. So she lead in assist and turnovers, yeah that part, she has more turnovers than any NBA / WNBA rookie in history.

    There are reasons why Points and Assists are considered the hardest and least common double-double for a player to make and are considered the most difficult for a Guard. (See WNBA STATS for the last 27 Years )
    As an FYI Sue Bird never had three consecutive games with a double-double measured by points and assists.
    As an FYI Clark sets the Rookie record for assists in a Qtr at Seven
    As an FYI Clark in Just 23 games breaks the 27-year-old Season record by recording her 8th DBL DBL Pts & Ast, DBL DBL Pts & Reb
    As an FYI I might as well throw this in as well, The league has seen just 35 triple-doubles in its 27 seasons, and currently, just four in its 28th season and Clark has one and could have had a second if Sides had not benched her..
    As an FYI, Sue Bird (Point guard) never had three consecutive games with a double-double measured by points and assists.
    Just another FYI, Clark had Three and Four consecutive double-doubles measured by points and assists.
    Was that not a record as a Rookie and as a Player?
    Points and Assists are considered the hardest and least common double-double for a player to make and are considered the most difficult for a Guard. ( See the last 27 years of Stats (Guards) for Pts& Ast in a season
    Points and Rebounds are considered the most common and easy combination of a double-double for a forward. (See Reese)
    In 2017, Courtney Vandersloot's (Guard) record of consecutive games with a double-double was measured by points and assists in six games.
    Until 2024 that is, as Clark is now tied with Courtney Vanderslootat at # 2 with Four consecutive double-doubles measured by points and assists over a four-game stretch - ESPN somehow missed this.
    Correction Clark is no longer tied for #2, tonight's double-doubles measured by points and assists give Clark five consecutive games of DBL DBL PTS & AST

    Don't forget that Caitlin has played her 24th game as a pro and has already played 30 - 40 games in college this year so she has roughly 64 games under her belt and will have almost 80 games when her season ends. Granted she had time off between her college games and her pro games, but she has never played at this level for almost as many games as the men play and will never have to again until the WNBA gets a big enough following and close to breaking even before they will have enough teams and play enough games to have an 82 game season like the NBA. Once she has a full off season to rest and practice with her Indiana team mates she will perform even better next season.

    Shooting percentage doesn't matter as much as points per attempt. She's at 1.5 points per attempt over the last 15 games! Plum 1.2, Ionescu 1.1, Copper 1.3, Ogunbowale 1.1. Etc, etc. Eighth in steals over the last 15 games. With everything considered, points, rebounds, assists, blocks, steals.. She may be the best PG in the league right now. Turnovers? Look how much time she has the ball in her hands! How can Team USA NOT have her on the team? She may deserve to be the starter at PG on that team.

    I'm an old dude(50), watched when the W started. I stopped when Diana Taurasi chose to seat out a couple of years & only play in Russia over lack of pay. I've totally enjoyed watching Caitlin play, she's my ROTY. She does need to stop gambling on steals & her foot work on defense is borderline. She does however have great instincts on recovery, her blocks come from it. I'll be honest if she had a better coaching staff, she might fix those things easily & in no time cause she's young. I really hope the Fever head office figures it out. Boston is another one who could totally benefit from foot word/defensive stands & correct roaming not just loosing an assignment. CC will get better, Boston will finally stop feeling like 2nd string, only thing they need is a rebounder. Dare I say it, Fever should ask the Sky for "Kamila Cordisa" since the Sky don't care about her development.

      @@felixchavarria8824 I’ve been floating a Kamilla for Nalyssa trade all week. Pretty much every Fever fan has been in favor, 2 Sky fans were in favor, another 2 accused me of trying to sabotage their team for even suggesting it lol. I mean I did ask them to chime in, but I proposed a simple trade that I though helped both teams and they basically called me a race traitor 😅. Be warned when mentioning that Kamilla trade, it gets rough out here.
      I started in 97 too, for me it was seeing Houston have their run then LA won back to back, then Detroit and all these one- off champions started winning and passing the chip around every year - I would tap in for only the biggest games. Stayed fully into the women’s NCAA though, it was Arike that got me back watching the WNBA faithfully, after her Notre Dame run (she’s a home town hooper so the whole city was watching). Now the Aces and their back to back dominance had fans popping up, being more loud about their fandom, and then this season just took it over the top

    It's not just about the stats. Caitlin's power of attraction has brought tremendous attention to the league. I hadn't followed it or the NBA since the Charlotte Sting died off. I accidentally tuned into an Iowa game early in the tournament last Spring, and was hooked. What Caitlin's transition to the WNBA did was to carry many of those fans over to the pros to watch her games. Her style of play is making an impact, and should help other teams rethink how they balance a squad and keep defenses guessing. Once the Fever start hitting a better balance of shots from players other than Clark and Boston, they will be a much stronger force to reckon with. It will be interesting to see what they come back from break with!

    Turnovers are her biggest issue currently. Point guards will tend to be higher on that list since they have the ball in their hands a lot more frequently, and the amount of double teams and traps she's dealing with will also effect that, but she needs to be better in that area. As for where she ranks league wide and all wnba teams....take a look at fantasy rankings...she's currently 5...should tell you all you need to know.

    Points:
    CC = 14
    AR = 24
    Rebounds:
    AR = 1
    CC = 19
    Assists:
    CC = 1
    AR = Outside top 50
    Blocks: (How can a point guard make more blocks than a forward? )
    CC = 14
    AR = 35
    3 Points Made:
    CC = 4
    AR = Outside top 50
    Steals:
    CC = 9
    AR = 10

    She can be MVP.
    The MVP winners have been from teams ranked 7th or 8th in the seedings before--some of them have actually been more as the second/ third best team than the first rated team. They even had a player that missed the playoffs (Lauren Jackson) somehow.
    So, the reality is that if Candace Parker can be MVP taking a team to like the 6th seed after they tanked the year before (they were a WCF team for three straight years prior to the tanking season) and even though her numbers were inflated, she's able to get MVP despite the other players having better stats than her--and better team record.
    NYL - they don't have a MVP candidate--they have three players that cancel each other.
    LVA - They have Aja, but again the narrative is weaker (especially if Aja loses the last two games vs the Fever next two months as it isn't how you start the season, but how you finish) for her since she's actually been losing without Gray in the lineup--regardless of her numbers. Her team is worse--and could lose like 10 games, which is a lot more than last year. They needed a lot of roster moves to even go this far, and so her value is diminished.
    SEA - super team without a real MVP player on their roster. The Detroit Shock had the best record but no MVP candidate that year and didn't win it because they all had identical stats. This SEA team is basically the same as that team--just won't be in MVP conversations.
    MIN - Collier might be taken out of the conversation if she misses more games.
    PHX - This team will likely not have a better record than IND will. They've lost too many games and will have a harder schedule.
    CON - The team has no main piece that puts them ahead--so Thomas has no real talking point against Clark as the "MVP" candidate since her team is not the top team or anything right now. She has one more game vs Clark and if Clark wins that one, then she'll lose all her MVP chances.
    Clark will likely end the season with one of those special stat lines: 19+ PPG - 6 or 7 RPG - 8 to 9.5 APG - 1.5+ SPG - 1.0+ BPG and this will have her rank in the top 20 of all stats for the season. She will have improved her team's record by nearly 10 wins higher than last year (provided they win at the same rate.) and will likely be a dominant 21+ win team that manages to get around the top 5 rankings. They are only good because of her being on the team to propel them as a player. As a guard, she literally ranks: 7th in PPG, 1st in RPG, 1st in APG, 6th in SPG, 1st in BPG. which she could easily become a top 5 in scoring PPG for a guard and maybe a top 5 in SPG since the players ahead of her are some she can reach. She would be the best guard in the league ranking nearly top 5 on all categories. Aja can't compare to that dominance for her stat lines since she's just leading favorably in advanced stats with basically an all-Olympic team around her. She's probably the best player in the world, but not the most valuable to her team--as I am sure they could easily win games without her.
    Clark is definitely in the running for that MVP and ought to be ranked around the top 5 when she gets to the 18 win range shortly.

      @@Vadimony you can make the case for it, but she can’t win it. They’ve talked all season about A’ja being robbed last year, it’s as much a narrative-based award as it a statistical one. They won’t even concede the ROTY race when we know the deal, seeing A’ja’s July stats plus what their record will be - and they’ll use that rough start in her favor and say she “held the team together” while they struggled with health/winning. CC getting some votes will be a win for me, that sets her up to for next season but it would take a 10-4 record after the break and the Aces going on a serious slide for CC to get the MVP fr

    • @Vadimony
      @Vadimony 3 месяца назад

      @@micdewitt It doesn't matter. Value is value.
      Aja can argue whatever she wants with the loaded roster she has. The voters aren't pro-WNBA fandoms with racism deeply seethed in their minds for that award. MVP is a bigger deal and those voters are going to look at it from a different lens: a lot of it has to do with the value of expectations.
      We seen Aja's numbers--with her team. That's an improvement of maybe 4 to 5 points (when the season ends) and like the same rebounds + DPOY status. If her value was so important, then why haven't the advanced numbers shown that as well--as we all love to use advanced stats that try to depict this value. Aja's stats show that she's worse than Clark in several values involving certain clutch stats.
      If she's not the big piece of the 4-time loaded HOF team, then she's not winning over Clark if she happens to win both Aces games next month to tie the series. If Clark goes on a major winning streak with her team, then the conversation is probably over.
      The only thing Aja has currently is wins--if Clark can close the gap by going on a run and beating Aja twice, then there's no argument for Aja. We've always looked at head to head games and most of us are looking at the most recent meetings--if Clark out preforms Aja, then it will be a wrap.
      First meeting: Clark was on a back to back vs a well-rested Aces team at home.
      Despite that, they lead the Aces going into halftime and then got blown out due to fatigue after the half.
      Second meeting: Clark and team were in the game up to the third but then had an epic collapse--though they were in the middle of a west coast travel week and playing on fumes.
      If the last two games go towards Fever favor, then you'll have a hard time to argue against Clark's success and the Fever finally turning around their sorrowful years prior to her being added to it.
      Clark has a few undrafted players. A terrible excuse for a coach. Teammates that struggled and haven't even had an ounce of consistency. A bunch of players that are ever disappointing. The worst franchise ever, lately. And probably a million other issues that make her situation better: injuries, lineup changes, etc. However, despite all that, Clark is making her team better and getting wins and overcoming the hardest schedule + the weak roster and the awful coaching to bring the team a crazy amount of wins (if they end up with 20+ wins) that they have never seen before. Aja is probably finishing a 10 loss record. That's not good for a MVP to fail to perform the same excellence just because you have a player injured--even though you kept adding new players to help the team over and over throughout the season. Aja's numbers aren't even all that impressive as a whole on most occasions. You just see that the Aces let her pad up her fluff numbers time and time again.
      Once it gets to that point, I don't really see it as an argument against Clark--imagine taking a team from awful to a near top seed in one year without a training camp vs the hardest schedule. That's MVP performance and importance + records broken and crazy good stat lines. It won't be a pushover for Aja if she's not able to seal the deal.

      This is the Aces with Jackie Young, Chelsea Gray, Kelsey Plum after all. They're Olympic level talent. You've got no real excuse why you're losing games to LA or something with that group: this is the most loaded team in the league. They have no excuse to lose at all. They lost like 6 games all of last year.
      If they lose 4 more despite Aja having her best season then it just shows her values are far lower than they make her out to be.
      Every other team seems able to make do and get some wins somehow. They don't have a fluff schedule + a loaded roster like that to rely on.

      @@Vadimony It definitely matters. Maybe not to you or me, but we aren’t voting. Those same broadcasters and media members that are telling us A’ja is the runaway MVP and can’t commit to CC being ROTY yet, are the ones that have the votes. I won’t even stress my brain HOPING that they parse through all of the numbers and see things completely objectively and analytically. They’re going to see raw numbers, see that A’ja is also a DPOY candidate, look at the standings, and give it A’ja. -850 odds to win (AW) while Clark is at +10,000. The Fever have better odds of beating the Aces for the chip (+8000 vs the Aces at +140)

      @@micdewitt I know currently it is completely for Aja. Since her stats and win totals match and the only player that could have been argued ahead of her has missed the last 5 games (Collier) and hurt her own odds. People picked Collier over Aja.
      Aja has to play: NYL, LAS, Lynx (twice) when they come back from the break.
      Aja has: CHI tonight. Then CHI twice after the break too.
      Then they have a PHX, NYL, IND (twice), CON schedule that could have them be on a losing streak to nearly end their month. They then play SEA and DAL (should be a healthy game that ends the season for a disappointing DAL team) that could be like the Wemby vs DEN that cost DEN the number 1 seed type of game for them.
      There are two Dallas games and 1 Dream game. Every other team that the Aces plays are capable of beating them and they'll probably lose a CHI game simply due to their defensive team and that Carter can explode against them.
      If the Aces drop 7 of those games, then we can definitely have a strong case for Clark closing the gap--especially at the end of the season when the Aces play those 7 straight against some hard teams (with Fever being two teams in between) and that alone can change the narrative.
      We've seen this happen all the time in NBA situations where some leading candidate didn't take the back end seriously and lost out on the MVP because another player was scorching hot at the end. Clark has already gone through all her early struggles so all she has to do is give another month similar to this month and she could easily come around winning 10+ games next month.
      They got CHI, WASH, DAL, LAS, and an ATL game that they could easily win those. That's like 6 games they can win. They then got two LYNX games and two ACES games. If they win those 4, then you can't give Aja much of an advantage anymore. Especially if they can beat the remaining games between Mercury and SEA or whoever else they play.
      There is a universe where voters would definitely vote against Aja because if she's going on a -6 skid near the end of the season, then let's just admit that MVP is probably questionable towards the promising young rookie that might end the season heating up the wins and record columns.

    As far as Double Doubles this stat needs to be weighted because DDs are different. I.e. Points +OR, DR, and Assist. If your a starting big forward posted under the rim averaging 25 minutes per/game you’d better have at least 10 OR and some DR, dish out some assist and convert most OR to FGs. Until rebounds are weighted it’s easy to pad the stat.

    Reason why she's still "maturing" with some of the scoring stats...3pts, 3pt %, etc., is because of how she's guarded compared to all the others. She's guarded heavier than any other shooter, league-wide...easily. She invokes FEAR, and because of that, the ladies be picking her up way before the half court line. Once she settles in and continues to learn how to punish teams for double-teaming her, all those stats will go THRU THE ROOF.

      Curry appeared in 80 games (77 starts) during the 2009-10 season, averaging 17.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 5.9 assists, and 1.90 steals in 36.2 minutes. His second half of the season vaulted him into the rookie of the year race. (This sounds like his first 40 games were not as good as his 2nd 40)

    I wonder how many of these expert players would actually do better than CC if they were treated exactly like she is. If you put 2,3, or 4 players guarding them would the do better, if everyone in the league put a target on you and played you , harassed you like the do CC especially if you were a rookie would you do as well as she is doing. I highly doubt it. Most of the older players who are attacking CC would loose their cool and be ejected if they were played like they play CC.
