A Climax locomotive in operating condition. This was a bonus to me due to the fact I was just going there to take pictures of the station, and then head to Cass Scenic.
@Kilhamjim The steam whistle definitely something to savor. The Climax locomotive is a logging locomotive with gear reduction to climb steep grades, and and very rough trackage. Climax was in competition with the Shay (built by Lima Locomotive Works) and the Heisler locomotives. You can read about all three locomotives.

Well they also have a 2 truck Heisler that they bought from a museum.
how early did they pull the climax out of the engine shed?

I think it was after 7AM. But can't swear to it.
@46ytyrtyrtyrty I know they had the components of a Climax, but I don't know what/when it will be completed.
