jazzyjazzjazz12 - it looks as though the top and bottom tape that goes around the upper calf and lower thigh are anchors for the strips of tape that cross over and under the knee. I would think the tape adheres to other tape better than just skin.
Is taping better than using a knee support? I had about two injuries and recovering... ACL intact I've been told but not sure what is torn or not. I therefore use a basic knee support with valcro when playing netball. These look better, do they prevent further damage or injuries better?
Is the elastic tape over the top totally necessary or is that more precautionary? I'm 9 months removed from ACL surgery and just returning to sport but I don't really want to mummify my dodgy knee if possible
My younger brother was kicked from behind a few months ago during a soccer game. Since then, there is considerable swelling in the lower region of the patella and he experiences pain from the area. Until we can get him to a doctor, will this taping technique support his knee so as to not aggravate the injury? (we would have taken him to a doctor sooner, but he simply kept quiet about the pain and continued with playing soccer, it was only today when we actually discovered how swollen it was)
I'm aware this video was ages ago but would anybody be able to tell me if the skin coloured tape he used (forgot the name) could be exchanged for kinesiology tape (also known as rock tape) thanks
If you try this taping on your average guy, you'd have to shave him a LOT first. Would you prefer doing so or would you get that guy a knee support instead?
Drew P Bawlzak using pro wrap before taping is still an option, to limit the tape to skin as much as possible. but there still needs to be some tape to skin contact so there's support and it doesn't slide off.
Thanks for sharing. Do you think this will support a damaged acl (less than 40% left on one acl) for performing spinning kicks? I have been out of action for years due to the injury, and have decided not to operate it.
I don't know what's wrong with my knee at the moment and I'm seeing my doctor in a couple weeks, would this strapping be recommended since I don't know what's wrong?
Excellent vid, clear concise application, definitely the clearest on youtube.

Can we also add vertical strips towards the end too?

It stops the tape coming undone from running or contact sports

Can we use this type of strapping on the knee and then play sports??..e.g..rugby..
Yes absolutely
Where can we find this kind of tape
Could you recommend some brands of elastic bandage and support tape that are suitable for this strapping...Many thanks...!
Elastoplast are by far the most known and highest rated
why not use kinesio tape?
Kinesiotape does not provide structural support. It is elastic. It provides feedback and skin stimulation.
awesome.
name of the tape for anchor please ?
See sportsinjuryclinic.net for more taping videos including patella pain and shin splints.
