    Hi Lloyd. Thanks for sharing the video. I'm trying to understand what goes in the models that you show in the context diagram (22:00). These are driver, truck configuration and Load weight models. Would you use physics equations in these models (e.g. for gearing loss)?
    Thanks again for sharing the video - is quite informative to get 'trained' on the subject :)

    • @whatcandatado
      @whatcandatado  Год назад +1

      Hey Omer,
      The load weight model that we use is indeed physics based in the sense of looking at the acceleration characteristics of the truck and measuring the amount of energy that is consumed to produce that acceleration. We are not really arriving at an explicit weight in kg but rather a classification of whether the truck was light, medium, or heavy load using this approach. The Gearing Loss is also an equation that takes into account the drive train configuration of of the truck (e.g. transmission and differential) to assess how much extra fuel is being consumed at highway speeds. It is not uncommon to have a truck that is "setup" for city driving end up running lots of miles on the highway and wasting fuel because of its configuration vs. use. Let me know if that helps you understanding.

I am currently woking on using digital twins in power systems. I am wondering if you can recommend an open-source tool to use in building my digital twins. Sorry if this question was asked before, I did not read all comments.

      Hey Tarerkuk ... I am glad you enjoyed the presentation. I do not have any specific suggestion on power systems other than you may want to check out the open source python simulation framework simpy.readthedocs.io/en/latest/ it may be a good starting point for your work if python is your preferred language. Also, microsofts azure digital twin framework is another choice for cloud based solutions azure.microsoft.com/en-us/products/digital-twins/... Best of luck with your pursuits!

    • @whatcandatado
      @whatcandatado  Год назад

      Hey Ashutosh ... the key to assessing disease is to generate a viable model for the body or parts of the body that will be germane to understanding the differences between a healthy and unhealthy state. Then through this modeling of the body, we can begin to pull apart what happens under disease conditions to more effectively treat or prevent the disease. For example, this paper pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19044244/ may be a helpful reference for building such a model for the eye. Good luck with your pursuit of building digital twins for medical applications!

    it occurs to me that most (all?) modern vehicles, or at least their engines are controlled by a computer and that this network of sensors comes out to a "diagnostic socket" where a repairman/maintenance engineer will plug in another computer to be able to see what is working and what is not. Would it not be a good idea (Pehaps it is already being done) to connect this socket to the cloud to give continuous data on how the vehicle is behaving?

    • @whatcandatado
      @whatcandatado  Год назад

      You are correct, Anthony, there are many applications that would benefit from access to the diagnostic data that is published by these trucks (and cars). One important consideration is the cost and bandwidth of data from the truck/car. There is almost always a need to process data on the edge (within the vehicle) and to heavily compress the data to deal with cellular limitations.

      Hey @sabinpandey5385 ... this sounds like a cool idea. What are you shooting to do with the utility survey? In particular, think about what you are trying to optimize. I often ask, "what am I trying to get more of or less of by performing my optimization. For example, in this video, the point of the digital twin is to provide real time feedback to a driver to "use less" fuel. In your campus utility survey, what is your quest? Let me know and we can zoom in on how to best proceed. Looking forward to your input...

      @@whatcandatado thanks for the replay... i am thinking of developing digital twins which can help in better infrastructure management, maintenance, space planning, or optimizing utility usage. However, with drones and LiDAR data there also requires a GIS data of utility. Do you think this would be a good idea showing electric lines, water or sewerage.

    • @whatcandatado
      @whatcandatado  8 месяцев назад +1

      Let's say you want to monitor utility usage and provide feedback on what actions to take to reduce energy usage. How would the drone and LiDAR data be critical to providing that insight? I think there are likely applications with the drone and LiDAR imagery could be helpful in ongoing inspection but I am having a hard time coming up with the reason that the image data would be necessary for something like energy optimization.

      @@sabinpandey5385 I recently came across this application of a Large Language Model (LLM) where the researchers can "ask questions of their spatial data" vis-www.cs.umass.edu/3dllm/
      I am not sure this is in line with the sort of application you are imagining, but I would contend that a system that processed drone (LiDAR) point clouds and allowed users to prompt the system for items of interest. For example, Let's say I have a survey of all the outdoor utilities of a specific campus and then prompt the model to highlight all the shutoff valves for the water system. I'm making things up here to explore the possibility. The other key thing to consider is to ask if the utilities potentially need repair based on some image analysis. This would be a fairly involved project. I don't have a lot of experience marrying LiDAR point clouds with GIS data, but I recall this ESRI reference ruclips.net/video/JxdX3kZCJmY/видео.html being a pretty good introduction. I wish you the best of luck with your project. Let me know how things come together.

    • @whatcandatado
      @whatcandatado  Год назад

      Oops ... I missed your comment from a long time ago. Your interest in DT for solar system is a good one. This could go in many directions and a result could get quite complex. If you think of the DT being comprised on a model or models and a source of real-world data to drive your model(s), I would start there with your quest. What are you interested in modeling about the solar system and what data can you get your hands on to potentially facilitate that modeling. The key step in your planning is to make sure you have a clear articulation of your objective. What are you trying to illuminate for the purpose of optimizing or understanding what will happen under certain circumstances. One simulation that scientist likely employ is what will happen under certain circumstances when an asteroid enters earths atmosphere or what would happen if a satellite dropped out of orbit. Both of these scenarios are best served with a physics based model of the system you are exploring.
