American plumber here. It’s cool seeing materials used across the pond. Press fitting s are used here a lot but no many if any plumbers do a lot of bending . And I’ve never seen a tower radiator like that. I enjoyed watching this. What a great craftsman you are .
I love your clean bends we bend pipes in my area. The customer should have put the money for the towel rack towards replacing the lead water service line.
Nice work, but that earth bond should be connecting both sides of the plastic fitting where the water comes into the building, so add a clamp the other side.
Plumbers shouldn't be fucking with permanent earth bonding. They're supposed to get an electrician in to do it as the regs that surround earth bonding are not covered in the plumbing regs and are supposed to be learnt in part P. He should have told the owner that an electrician should come in to have a look at it - which, as far as we know, he did. Its the same thing when gas engineers work on gas and they're obviously [sometimes] quite knowledgeable about earthing as it is covered in the ACS exams but they still shouldn't install or amend it themselves.
Long time watcher but first time commenter, thank you for the videos. Braver man than me with that lead! Also, although a few other people have said it, but to offer an explanation. The earth cable is to bond the incoming lead pipe to ensure it’s at the same potential as other earthed/bonded metal in the house. This is required as the lead pipe is effectively an earth rod itself as it’s a conductor in the ground, and therefore is an extraneous conductive part. Without the bonding, as it’s a different distance away from the substation/transformer than the actual earth, it could have a potential difference (voltage) compared to the actual earth. Anyone touching this pipe and something else at the ‘actual earth’ potential (e.g. the washing machine casing) could get a shock. Unlikely as it’s behind the washing machine but still should be done as has been said. You don’t need to bridge the earth connection over the plastic fitting. Any supplementary bonding will be done separately where it needs to be, and should not rely on the main bonding here. Hope this helps explain things a little more than ‘just earth it below the pipe’.
The earthing should be directly on the metal pipe as it enters the building... no need to link it across the plastic valve... sup bonding not required with RCDs and in any event the bond must not be joined before it connects to the incoming pipe
good job dude, i love your vids, however, as some people have already mentioned, that Main Water Bond needs to be linked across the plastic fitting, another earth clamp on the lead pipe with a 10mm earth cable will sort it. In larger installations the link would be installed before cutting the pipe incase the earth potential on the pipework reached a "shocking" value.
Great vid Pete. So many different but every day jobs in one house. Not a fan of Sure Stops either but sometimes needs must. Same with using press fittings on show. Did a rad job recently where the bathroom rad was two levels lower than the rest of the flat and I couldn't get the water to stop trickling out so used a tetite coupler ( I don't have the press fitting gear) and the rest in end feed. Landlord and tenant were perfectly happy as the pipes were going to be painted. We all want our work to look as neat as possible but sometimes you just have do want gets the job done.
Copper bond should go on both sides of that plastic fitting. Atleast that's how it qould be done over in North America. The reason would be you want the metal piping in the building grounded, but you also want the ground wire bonded to the metal grounding electrode that is your water main.
I'm guessing it the equivalent to a handyman, anyways heres a tip from america when using a hole saw or core drilling bit always start in reverse to score the hole and avoid chip out or fracturing the finished surface it works for all materials wood masonry pvc metal vinyl but especially handy when drilling vinyl siding.
Neat and tidy plumbing is so satisfying! Great work. I'm not a plumber, but I'm a reasonably experienced, self taught DIYer. I've sorted many a mess left by previous owners in my own house. I wish I'd done plumbing as a trade when I was younger. P. S that pipe cleaner drill bit would have saved me so much grief in the past.
Love your videos mate. Been following you on Instagram for a while and haven’t got round to watching any of your videos until today. Absolute wizard of your trade, love it.
Keep it up with the great content 👍 I have the 15mm monument bender and they are great for me as I only really do bathroom refurbs so I never have to bend 22mm. I find there ideal as I can fit them in my kit bag. But i can see why some people might not get on with especially if you have always used normal pipe bender
PB, give'em a chance. You really need the handle extensions for the benders OR you can make your own with some 1/2 bsp galavanised pipe with threaded ends and make em as long as you like.
Love those Walraven clips you use, i use them in commercial all the time because they can attach to threaded rod, and have the fire rating to be used in a return air plenum.
What i carry in my toolbox is a short length of 8mm plastic clear poly tubing i think it's called and use it to syphon out water in copper pipes etc or even just suck the last bit out. Might have come in handy with the water in the pipes above that lead. I wouldn't have bent that lead down though, worry me to death that would have
That earth wire needs to be on the lead pip leading to the ground/earth, anything in the house them pipes are connected to can now become live and a death trap with live electricity running to them, as the electric can no longer move to an earth, if possible I would pop back and move it back to the lead pipe making sure it clean pure lead with no paint on it when reconnecting the wire, hope this helps.
We call that rusted area on the burner and back refractory the "high tide line". It's definitely from condensate backing up in to the boiler. Dead give away that it is not serviced on a regular basis.
Maybe because towel rails don’t provide much heat, especially with towels on them. If you’ve got a bathroom with two exterior walls then having a radiator is very beneficial.
I had mine replaced with a taller towel rad in anthracite black as they give a higher output than the chrome. It's amazing at heating the bathroom. It was a lot more expensive but lookes and works great.
Another great video P.B. I was really worried for you when you bend that lead pipe. But as for the jobs done A1 work as usual the amount of thought going into these jobs is amazing most people would just connect to what’s there and be done with it. And all one handed too. Have you ever thought how quick you would be using two hands lol. Well done again and hope dads doing well. I thought the other day are you trying to look like BUD out of Free guy. Lol
Blimey, I wonder who plumbed all that before you ?!. It looked like that behind my kitchen cabinets before I pulled it all out and started again !. I like things neat, but not brave enough to tackle lead pipe, an excellent job..
I think the earth bond should be on the other side of the fitting to properly ground it. Or maybe on both sides. But I’m not an elechicken so don’t take my word for it! Super neat job as always.
@@bobcat9754 Thanks! Good to know. Always nice to have a fellow tradesman jump in with the needed knowledge. By the way, elechicken is just a light hearted joke on my part! I would love to get better at electrical. Would it be better to ground on both sides of the fitting or just underneath it?
I like these crimp connectors, but what will you do if you need to remove the connectors??? Without cutting the pipes because you won't have any left piping for the new connectors. Thanks. Let me know.

You an artist with pipe work mate, it’s so nice to watch how you lay out. Class act 👍
You made a lovely job of the pipe work to.the towel rad Pete. A smashing bit of work all in the one house!
Nice work Pete, braver man than me bending that lead it would've split if I'd of tried it 🤣🤣
Nice work, but that earth bond should be connecting both sides of the plastic fitting where the water comes into the building, so add a clamp the other side.
I was thinking that too. And the Nest should be 300mm away from the boiler but half the time it’s not possible.
He's a plumber not a spark

That is some pretty good pipe bending! Clean job.
nice and clean work, learned something new on this video. thanks buddy!
Nice shirt Bro, you got taste👌
It's amazing to see plumbing in other countries. Very similar but very different. Great video brother
Hi Pete,
Fantastic video as usual. As a newly qualified plumber I love watching your videos and picking up tips from you. Keep up the great work. 👍👏
Interesting video and the most impressive work was the filming with one hand. Well done!
Very interesting video - thanks - and exquisite pipe work. Perfect material to show apprentices how it should be done.
Them pipe benders from monument are brilliant that's all I ever use
Clean work Pete, Fellow plumber from Sydney, Australia 🇦🇺
Well done Pete your jobs are all magnificent it’s your 1001 posts 😉👍🏼
I like that drill brush. Nice work
Great work in this difficult house.
Refreshing to see Metabo clobber being used .I am a big fan of the stuff. Tidy plumbing work as well . Cheers.
🤘😎🤘 your screw box and my door pocket look very similar 😂🤣😂🤣😂👍👍
Great video. Interesting seeing plumbing from another country. Plumbers in America never bend copper. It's a nice touch.

Amazing work man ! Nice kicks on those copper pipes on the towel heater.
I was looking forward to watching you wipe a joint on that lead main... using lead-free solder of course :-)

Beautiful work.
You're an artist with a pipe bender and the press-fit couplings look superb.
Great vid mate, long term subscriber here. I can remember the flood from the last surestop with your new cutter! 😀
I didn't know there was such a thing as the Rems angled jaw set. I think I will get some of those. Nice work.👍
That pro press is a thing of beauty
Hello from southern California, those press fittings are great for the installer but horrific for any repair.

Hola Pete ✌️ awesome content. I'm a plumber in the US, and it's fun to see the differences in Technics. Blessings and good vibes to you sir.
Don’t think that outdoor open kitchen drain would be quite up to code in the US

Nice job with the bends. Especially nice when using an unfamiliar tool.
Beautiful work fine sir.
Superb work.
Burnt the shit out of the skirting board in the first minute 🤣🤣🤣
Earth cable goes on the pipe that goes into earth. You burned costumers skirting board - lol.
i didn’t burn the skirting board it’s a shadow, keep watching
I like the press fit fittings on show. It's just down to personal taste. Great vid 👍
Awesome job brother. It’s gotta be tough working one handed to film your work, props.
Perfect! Thank you kindly! Top Man!
You are a great plumber Sir. God bless and Jesus loves u
We call that rusted area on the burner and back refractory the "high tide line". It's definitely from condensate backing up in to the boiler. Dead give away that it is not serviced on a regular basis.
Why didn’t they want the towel rad to replace the current rad??
Good question, maybe to save money, he put it up himself, in the wrong place
Maybe because towel rails don’t provide much heat, especially with towels on them. If you’ve got a bathroom with two exterior walls then having a radiator is very beneficial.
Why wouldn't you?

Monument bender is hard because is plastic gaeid
I think the earth bond should be on the other side of the fitting to properly ground it. Or maybe on both sides.

Yes, your absolutely right, i am an electrician.
Its fine on the side he put it, as it earths the pipes running in the property not the one from the street

@@plumbraider2265 you have to link across it, with a 10mm main bond. and two earth clamps.
Great job well done 👍☘️🥃🖐
Great video PB 👌🏻
What happened to wood nibling? Did you cut it from video hehe - great work
Lovely job.
Never seen a pipe bender like that before in my 20yrs of plumbing! 😳🙈🤣
I'm in the US and been a plumber for 30 years and have never seen a flush press jaw like that. Bro I need that thing
As a plumber who is not based in the UK we would replace the lead pipe and would a lubricant help on the bending machine
Great videos I enjoy them but do you not use a dust sheet? Tools/equipment scraping on tiles/on worktops isn’t a great look
Hi Pete, do you know when the apprentice kit will be available at all? Cheers. 😄
Spot on P.B !
I like these crimp connectors, but what will you do if you need to remove the connectors??? Without cutting the pipes because you won't have any left piping for the new connectors. Thanks. Let me know.
Class work but where’s the dust sheet on the tiled floor 🥺
New to the channel, great work sir!
Thank you 🙏🏽
Very Nice working sir
I am Aftab from Pakistan my occupation plumbing works.
That curly earth is the business 👌 canny days work mate keep the videos coming! Do you work on back boilers ever?
Vanity looks much better a little caulk on the front of the vanity floor should work

Mine are by Gedore.
Best t shirt yet my man, 👌
Great work 👍👍,, you available to fit a new bathroom ?
Awesome tools
Great vid....where can I get that deburring tool that attaches to a drill please?
Great show👍
Not use open therm connection when is there ???
Nickel bon boulot 👍
Good informative video as always but I do have a question, how come you didn’t put a lead lock in and get rid of the old stop tap ?
Good job Pete
Cheers for the top video Pete. Does anyone know the name of the pipe cleaning drill attachment used?
Nice job.
Thank you Pete👌
Great video and extremely educational .
Great video Pete. Have a good weekend(what’s left of it)
