The binaural is louder, makes it harder to compare fairly.
IMO standart sounds flat and more compressed. Binaural is louder but it sounds like fresh air:)
You don’t need level matching to compare and some of the perceived increase in loudness is probably subjective - I will measure that later though.

actually, i like the standart version much more, the biwhaterver sounds like a overstrereomixed version, and that is not my sort of thing.
Binaural Is expanded stereo,
Binaural on headphones is better than stereo, but on speakers it is worse. Do not forget about visual clues when listening to music - if you go to forest with Amazonia binaural on headphones, forest space will serve as an "amplifier" and it will sound very spacious and natural. But if you listen to it in your living room... ;)
BTW - I wonder what system was used for binaural mix, my guess goes to Flux Spat Revolution. Any hints?

By all accounts if you buy cd not sure about iTunes (iTunes is a rip off) you get a code to download the binaural album and a 5.1 dts.

Well, apart from a difference in perceived loudness, I hear very little. Am I missing something?
I agree. In this RUclips clip the binaural version is significantly louder than the standard version. This presentation makes it hard to make an unbiased comparison between the two.
I was going to say the same thing, if I didn't find someone else who'd already said it, and you did. Pulling the audio from this, and running it through a quick scan, average RMS power on the "binaural" chunks is drastically higher than the "standard" bits, so this is nowhere near apples to apples comparison. When I turn the standard parts up to the point where they're as loud as the binaural sections, standard actually sounds a bit better on my good cans over here. Stereo separation, and the general stereo field is better, and the binaural parts are somewhat muddy in comparison, once you more accurately level adjust everything. But I will say, regardless, this sounds like a really great album, no matter what.
Also have to say, I have at least a few dozen hours of real binaural recordings here, including back when we called it "holophonic" recording. They have a distinctive character to them, and jump right out at you when you hear them on good headphones. You can tell immediately what you're hearing is different, because you can track every sound clearly on the y axis when you hear it. It's so astonishingly good that I'm even reminded that I'm painfully below average height when I hear sounds coming from below the level of the floor, in many cases. You can follow all the sounds traveling all around you, behind your head, and flying in every direction. Sorry, but this recording doesn't sound remotely like any other great binaural recordings I have. Not even a tiny bit. Want an example? Google "holophonic matchbox", put headphones on, and listen to whatever you find. Keep in mind, that recording was made around 15 years ago. Sorry to burst a bubble here, but...

I never really loved what Jarre had done after "Zoolook", but in recent years he is doing more and more . and more stuff that really catches my ear and auditory mind. The "virtual concert" project was quite amazing, and what I have heard of amazonia so far is that it is a worthy followup to "Waiing for Cousteau"- to me the best "Ambient Music" ever made.
Really looking forward to checking out the full album!

Sounds good on SkullCandy cans. Whatever happened to electrostatic speaker technology??? I loved my TimeWindow stack in 1979. I guess they were just too expensive for homes. People in the audience could not believe the sound quality from just one unit. We played Phil Collins' In the Air Tonight at 100 decibels. People got up and clapped.

Have only had a quick sampling of a listen... but 'tis sounding like a 'nature's sounds' -version of 'Zoolook'... Loving the binaural immersiveness...
Actually the binaural version sounds amazing using 9 Channel stereo in an DTS:X/Atmos capable setup. Even better that way than with DTS:X upmixing. The binaural mix places sounds all round the listener though the same signal is reproduced by all speakers (except for the subs and the crossover settings).

Hello, I am 45 years old, I have been a fan of Jean Michel Jarre since I was 12, I have always loved music and Jean Michel Jarre was my first idol, I went to see him when he came to my country and I was excited to see him play live. I just heard this album and the truth is... I would like to ask, from the logic of such an important musician, where does the logic come from to make an album like this, I think that after listening to it I am to say the least disappointed, it is an album lacking in strength. , It has no contrasts, the Amazon is a place full of contrasts, you can only read the apparent tranquility of the Amazon jungle, but there is exploitation, there is fire, there is cutting down of trees, there is violence, from what I can hear on the album it is rather a idealization of what was once the Amazonian jungle, do not pretend to be a warning, a new item about what is happening there, there are problems related to industry, money and politics, it is the green lung of the world!, anything come from there must be a warning, we have losing it!. In the album I did not listen to none of that, I sincerely miss albums with the force of Magnetic Fields, Oxigene or Zoolook, which gave an image, a scene from a context and an account of the force the intensity of a deeply playful and observant personality of Jean Michel Jarre, nothing of that is seen in this disc.

for the sake of comparison levels for both examples should be match. Otherwise the proof is that it`s louder, even 0.5dB louder feels better in some cases. Here is 3-4dB more for binatural? This way standard feels less compress.

Hopefully that's his next but if you buy the cd you get a code to download the binaural album and a 5.1 dts version like the aero dvd .
