• How To fit a Universal...
Thanks to Aegir Electronics, aegir.co.uk for the privilege. Unboxing and setup of the QE49Q70R or QE49Q70RAT with retail demo at the end. This is the top model 49" TV from Samsung for 2019, one model up from last year with full array back light.
I still got my Q70R 55 inch and it has not missed a beat it’s such an amazing tv
I've got one and it is superb, brilliant picture!!
What are the black levels like on it mate do you get bad blooming or anything
Wayne Garner no actually I’ll give it a 9/10 it’s great imo
Its crazy how there is literally no blooming on the q70r with only 40 zones just shows how good there algorithms are this year my q80r has literally no blooming even with the new viewing angle filter it's because on the q80r and q90r they have a new updated filter that actually helps keep blacks deep and not allow light out or in you can even see the light except for in some areas around white letters every so often that's any fald unit tho I'm impressed even with the slight contrast Loss they made up for it with the new algorithm and the 96 zones and also the new filters and the processor people dotn think about it you know how Sony advertised kore contrast with there processing well Samsung has finally done that yoy dont see any loss in detail and contrast actually aide by side with my q8fn theres more the brick and cracks in concrete have more depth the shadows between light and dark ades little veins in leaf's everything just looks better they did a great job I feel bad for the people not giving it a chance because they hear viewing angle filter and freak out when they have no idea how good the engeneering on these TVs are it's incredible and there going to miss out on the best TVs Samsung has ever produced as literally every review has even stated so far and almost all say the deepest blacks they have ever seen on an LCD led TV and people canf believe it because of the native contrast loss but they dont understand they took care of that with again engeenering filters algorithms processing such a crisp image crazy sharp in a good way hel they showed the q900r next to the q9fn in a European video and the q900r even with even worse contrast then the q90r still had the blacks the q9fn had and they were talking about how amazing that is and the q900r doesnt even have the new filters that the q90r has they for some reason didnt put them in as Vincent form HDTV test said and he said in his comment section that the q90r has very deep blacks and commented on one guys comment talking about the contrast loss and he explained how it didnt matter at all in this case and uts the first samsung TV he has ever given his highly recommended to it's just amazing it's a great TV and can finally compete with oled on the sharpness and with Sony on the image processing crisp clear image with way less noise then last year I literally have put my q80r and q8fn side by side and was just shocked at the difference in clarity and shocked that the blacks were actually deeper and with better rlight control
TellyDan how does the 80T compare to this TV? Cause I stuck between the 49” 80T and the 49” 70R, I don’t care about the 60Hz anymore
Which one of the below is recommended in 65":
1. Samsung Q70
@t X900f
3. LG Nano Series 9
Samsung q70 definitely feels and looks the best quality and least backlight bleed
I read bad things about the brightness of this TV. Is it that bad to change your mind about buying? For instance what would be your rating brightness-wise? And compared to Q80 or Q90 or to last year's models?
Thank you!
I noticed it wasnt the brightest myself. It's quite a bit less than the q85, q90 and last years q7, but for me I don't have my TV to bright at home myself so don't think it would be an issue for me.
Nice video and thanks ... When I mounted my TV on the wall ... My finger accidentally touching the screen when I was grabbing it .. will I damage the screen by pressing on it?
is it worth buying this over the q60 for 100/200 euros more? i see they both got 60hz my main use would be videogaming
This is the very TV I would buy if I was to replace my own, well almost but I would want last years 55 inch model and not this one. I think last years model looks way better designed too and the price tag of £999 and £1,699 for the 55 inch models makes the FN a winner. It even well beats the price of this 49 inch at £1,499 too. They both have stunning picture quality though and I like the demo on this TV better than the one on that 8K TV.
I thought this was the q7 replacement at first but its actually the q6 replacement the q60 2019 is a new entry level qled. This is still good though and the price will fall through the year. It's a bit thick but I suppose that's the compromise for the local backlight
@@TellyDan Hi , do you recommend the new Samsung Qled 70rat 49inch or Samsung Q6fn 49inch ? I know the price is different , is it worth it ? Thanks!
@@Lodger61 I think for the price difference. I'd go for the Q6 the only real difference is the local backlight on the Q70 but the Q6 is really good for the money.
I would say the models represent equivalent replacements over last year; the Q60 replaces the Q6 for entry level, 2018 Q7 didn't have FALD and this year's Q70 does which is a huge leap forward to me. There is very little else to consider on TVs IMO at mid and upper end than either OLED or FALD. If anything the Q70 perhaps is closer to last years Q8DN (the rare one with FALD). No One Connect box is a bonus for me, it's a real pain with my Q9FN setup. And now samsung have a FALD 49 this is perfect for a minimal wall installation in a bedroom with only aerial/netflix usage.
@@TellyDan If I'm right the Q70 49inch is 120hz and Q6fn is 60hz . Can you really notice the difference watching sport events ? If not I'll go for the Q6fn. Cheers from Rome !
Anyone have a problem with their Q70 TV turning on by itself about 15 seconds after turning it off? My 49" does it fairly sporadically and it's pretty annoying.
yeah mine too. especially after watching the YT.
Hello, could you tell me the distance between the legs? and the total height with legs (support)
Hi. Do you know if this TV QLED model is equipped with 10bit panel?
Exactly what I needed from this unboxing was what type of mains lead it takes. You mentioned figure 8. Need a 10 metre one for putting it on the wall. Will your standard 10 metre IRC 7 figure 8 lead work for this or with it being QLED does it need something different.
Got one in yesterday and had to use electrical tape to hold the feet in. My pedestal goes in and no real click. They are so slightly snapped in that the weight of them causes them to fall out when you lift the TV.
T. Eli Ahrens that could be a manufacturing defect. Better ask for a replacement
How is the motion handling?
So is this TV worth buying?
Yes, albeit in a bigger size. 49" comes with a 50/60hz panel instead if 100/120hz.
I only got one small remote with my 55" Q70R. That remote doesn't have numeric pad, so i don't know how can i change channels now. Any idea?
Same here
Same here
Looking close, it seems it's a basic universal remote. I didn't get it either. The video here shows it's BN59-01268D and looking other places that show this model TV with it, it's the same model number for that remote but no place online can I find that it is stated to work with this TV though I assume does. A couple places list that remote as a 2017 model. From what I read, the only benefit of it other than being a universal remote and having big nice traditional buttons (looks ore sturdy too) is that you can access settings with just one button press on it (unlike the rocker remote).
I only got the small remote also with my 2019 q70 75"
I think the Samsung NU8000 has better motion handling then the Q70r I own both models seems like the Q70r flickers and judders when trying to reach 60 FPS i know all movies are shot at 24p I personally love the soap opera effect and it doesn’t seem to be as smooth compare to the NU8000 I have the the blur and judder reduction both set to 8 it looks a lot smoother without having to set it all the way to 10
£1400 for a TV and they don't provide the wall mount bolts costing what, 20p? I couldn't believe it.
Hi Guys,
I cannot decide between the Samsung Q70R 49 inch and the Sony kd-49xg9005 49inch
I will be using the TV mostly for gaming and Movies what are you suggestions out of the two and why?
Thanks
I'd go samsung myself
Better software and all round better sound and picture quality. I dont know what the reviews say but that's my personal opinion
@@TellyDan Did you have or seen any of those TV's or you mean off the spec sheet and thanks
Sony tv bad for gaming there told to me and Samsung Q70r has Real Game Enhancer but Sony doesnt having Real Game Enhancer so i brought the Samsung Q70r 65 inch and 75 inch is too big not pretty for gamers.
i have a 2018 qled tv. Can you tell me how I can play movies from external usb disk drive that has a password?? I cannot see an option to type the password in to access the movies!! All my disks are password protected (obviously lol). Is it possible that samsung just didn't "think" about this, and can simply not access these disks??? (I actually don't know anyone that doesn't password-protect their external disks, so this is not an uncommon /"special" situation..)
How do you get this beautiful picture quality? I got the Q70r and the picture quality are bad.. Thanks!
What content are you watching
@@TellyDan SD and HD/FHD I guess the problem was with contrast enhancer it was on High, I had to set it to low it's better but a little bit darker... I'm on dynamic mode it's the only one who works. I had to use standard mode in order to get gamma 2.2 and then I had to switch back to dynamic with the gamma 2.2.
Anthony Hershko did you get the RA model or the new 2020 models?
@@elef951 The 2019 version, It doesn't matter, all of the Qled version have a dimming light problem.
hello, do u think this model (Q70R) is better than last year's Q7FN?
I think the q70 is more a replacement for last years q6 rather than the q7. The q7 last year is probably brighter but doesn't have the local backlight.
TellyDan which one do you prefer? I’m thinking of getting q70r or q7f. Help me please Dan.
I've just got this as a replacement to my old Q7F, i'm curious but are the grey sticky pads the only thing protecting the screen and no full screen protector?
Yup mine was the same way the gray sticky things are so the screen doesnt flex and crack during shipping
There is a film over the screen. I doubt it's really suppose to be removed but I had to due to an accident installing it and it's doing fine. Just the normal peel off plastic.
@@subclasshero6391 my q70 had a sticker in the upper left hand corner under one of the foam protective side peices with instructions on how to remove the film screen protector. I just helped my neighbor set up the exact same tv today and it did not have that instruction sticker and didn't seem to have the screen protector..I'm thorough confused....
Do they not have a mount for the middle anymore because my stand I couldn't put TV on with the wider legs I'd like to have a 65 in qled
If possible,go to home Depot and have a wide board cut and placed on top of the stand, that's what I did.
I've got volume turned as high as it will go and cannot hear the commentary. I can catch a few words, but it mostly sounds like a low mumble. Good demonstrative picture though.
Ahhh mine had a barcode sticker right on the screen I don’t know how to get it off?!?!? And there’s a small sticker on what seems on the very bottom of my screen I don’t know if I’m supposed to pull it off so far this is too stressful for this tv
Bought this tv maybe 10 days ago jus noticed the entire screen has plastic on it...I'm a dummy
Hey which one would you recommend: samsung Q70R or sony x90F? same price
I'd probably go Samsung. I'm not keen on sonys menus or the sluggishness of operation
Q70R returned my X900F very bad blooming and back light bleeding
Watching A 4k Tv unboxing on 1080p.....
There is play store on this ?
Samsung app store
I would not get this in the 49 inch. The 49 inch has native 60Hz while the 55 inch and larger has native 120Hz.
@@realkameliamelnic Not a huge problem, but 120Hz is definitely better than 60Hz
Dena tv är bäst på den pris är fint.Tack så mycke för vidio.
No split screen?
Hi @TellyDan can u tell me how to remove pedestrial stand from q70r
I think you just pull them out
Remove the R sticker before you insert the leg, and it will be a hell of a lot easier to remove.
does it have a RCA connector ?
No not on this model unfortunately but you can get RCA to hdmi converters
I like the way you lifted it out where it says 🚷🤚
Is the bracket metal or plastic?
What is the width of the feet please?
Front light around 20cm
Thanks dan for the look at the telly tellydan
Thankyou
Build quality looks cheaper than 2018 models(FN series)
Unfortunately I agree
Is this good for next gen console?
yeah, but it can't do 4k at 120hz
@@kyle4986 it's not important I don't see any game running 4k at 120 fps this gen. Maybe except indie games
@@Rodddy oh I was just pointing that out since 4K at 120 is one of the key features of the next gen consoles :)
Vous connaissez les diamètres des vis pour lui changer de pieds.
Car ma table et trop petite.
Merci.
les 4 vis dans le dos bien sûr.
Any idea how to take the feet off again?
Should just pull out
It seems to me that the screen shows many reflections of the room.
It looks worse in the environment of a shop with the led light panels and multiple TVs around also the light from the large windows against it. They're quite good in a living room environment
@@TellyDan Thanks for the answer. Is it my impression or the Q85R handles better with reflections in a bright room?
TellyDan you forgot to take the plastic of the front of the TV 📺 that’s why it has a big reflection trust me I made the same mistake too lol. I had the tv for few weeks and discovered only by cleaning the screen that there’s a protective plastic cover now the screen looks fantastic with no reflection glare. Makes me think how many others haven’t realized it yet lol 🤔😂
I really wanna get the sony 950g. But for some reason I keep going back to the q70r.
hey dan! can you make, sometime in the future, some unboxing with sony TV models?
Yes I plan to soon
@@TellyDan nice!!!
does it support 120hz?
it doesn't , 49q70r supports 60hz.
The bigger sizes do, 55 inch and up.
@@SirHayler so this model on 65 ich have 120 hz panel ?
@@realkameliamelnic 30fps games usualy don't go higher than 60hz which this tv can upgrade to trough the settings. However 60fps games will struggle to maintain that hz since they are usualy build upon 120 fps on a 100 hz standard.
Find de-judder to make less "theater" pictures if you like old movies without this effect... Put on 5 from 1-10
Ru7400 vs lg um7400 compires please
No One Connect Box?
Nope all connections on the tv
I just got one remote control why
A lot of countries outside the uk only get the smart remote you can still order the standard one though
No 1 connect box. Backward step.
Not at all IMO. I certainly think it's a 50:50 opinion splitter. For me a TV that is the same size AND a large brick alongside it doesn't make sense. My 55Q9FN has the one connect box and would much prefer it to be all inside the TV. It's more wires and more boxes to try and hide.
Who cares really haha?
Too bad the 49" doesn't get the 120hz panel. At the prices these are going for now, this model would otherwise be a steal.
@@realkameliamelnic shouldn't be a problem as this model is known to have good gaming features. It doesn't really NEED to be 120hz. It's just a slap in the face to anyone who purchases the smaller size, at a price thats not discounted enough to justify the loss of features. You lose things like freesync as well, but that wont be a problem unless you expect to use it as a PC monitor, or play on Xbox One X or PS4 PRO, which support variable refresh rates.
@@realkameliamelnic The biggest benefit is the variable refresh rate (adaptive vsync, to reduce screen tearing). I still don't think any console games are over 60fps, and wont be for a while. A 60hz panel can refresh at 60fps, which should keep you current for a while.
@@realkameliamelnic sorry if my reply wasn't clear. Nope. Adaptive Vsync is the same as variable refresh rate. Freesync works with AMD video cards, Gsync with Nvidia. Adaptive Sync is technically an Nvidia term, but it's kind-of used universally. If the 49" model was appropriately cheaper than the larger models (like, maybe $599), I'd go for it. But the price difference between 49" to 55", is the same as 55" to 65". Maybe now that ALL sizes are ~$200 cheaper than regular price (I believe the QN49Q70R used to be $999), it's a bit more reasonable. The Sony X900F/X950G is the ONLY 49-50" panel I've found with Native 120hz refresh rate. It has absolutely amazing motion performance. Unfortunately it blooms so terribly that it creeps into the top/bottom black bars in movies. Not something I'm willing to live with. I just may return my Vizio M-Series Quantum M507 for the Samsung. It has a defect where the backlight can be seen only off-angle between the bezel.
EDIT: Believe it or not, some of the 2017 models (Samsung MU8000) actually had a 120hz panel, but they are edge lit. I'm not sure what happened where manufacturers have suddenly disqualified the 49-50" sizes as being worthy of flagship features.
With all that said, you may want to return it and wait. I've heard that 2020-2022 are going to be good years for new TV technology being released, and previous technology getting cheaper. TCL just released their miniLED TV's (8 series) with 25,000 backlight LED's, and 1000 dimming zones. 65" is the minimum size, but the price is cheaper than OLED.
@@realkameliamelnic If you're not planning to use it for anything over 60fps, it should have plenty of refresh rate
@@realkameliamelnic According to the review @ rtings.com, the only differences between the sizes are freesync and the refresh rate. They all have the same local dimming and the same video processing. As far as I can tell, the extra refresh rate is only used for Freesync. The Hisense H8F I bought my parents is a 60hz panel. It has stunning motion and soap opera effect. The processing chip can allow a 60hz panel to have motion performance similar to a faster panel. You get a range of video artifacts with this, but the Hisense keeps them to a minimum. As far as I know, the Sony X900F processor actually uses the extra refresh rate for it's motion processing, which is why it has to be the same for all models.
The Samsung QLED line is a highly respected TV. I think you will be happy with it, and I may join you when I return my Vizio.
How about some production value?!
Couldn't get Morgan Freeman to do a voice over track for you?
Haha if only. Then everything would be clear
Well that's really weird, the German remote looks way different than the British one
You're lucky... in USA we only get the small remote for the Q70R. Samsung's a fucking JOKE!!
