Thank you for such a comprehensive tutorial. There are so many bad examples of pollinating out there that it took me several days to find this video. The flowers on this family, anona, are so weird that I've never seen fruit from all the cherimoya trees growing in our neighborhood. So I'd venture to guess that hand pollination is necessary in our very urban setting as our local pollinators (I don't think) are doing the job.
Nice video. I wish you could get a better zoom lens to see what he was doing on the tree. Once he removed the flower to see I could no longer see the shape of the flower. It’s more confusing off the tree
I have a question please .... I have an annona tree and I noticed that the color of some of the fruits became black and they are on the tree and rotted .... so what is the reason ..... Thank you
My cherimoya tree is not producing flowers this year. In previous years, July and August were when I would hand pollinate the flowers to get fruit in November. This 25-year-old tree has been doing well and appears healthy with beautiful leaves. But this summer, as of July 25th, I have not seen any flowers on the tree to pollinate. What could have happened to cause it not to flower this year?
One clarification. is it enough that even one pollen is sufficient to fertilize it. if more numbers of pollen is poured , will the no of seed formation is more .is there any relation between number of pollen vs seed formation or size.?
I bought three sugar apple trees. Two tress leaves are stiff than other one tree's leaves, which. I know is sugar apple. Do sugar apple have stiff leaves ?
Thank you Har for sharing the hand pollination of sugar apple technique, what are some reasons for unsuccessful hand pollination? I pollinated 4 flowers and 5 days later, I found them on the ground.
Nitidulid beetles. Wow! .All this time I though it was bees that did the pollunation. I have seen them in my garage ( dead) because we need more turf (smh). I do hand pollinate but this year very little success.
I just tried it and unfortunately I used the plastic paint brush so I guess I won't be getting any. Here in Phoenix, there isn't any "Netidolid" beetles so their is no orchards of sugar apples.
Hi there Ms Chris, Pls answer my few questions. I know that if you graft Sugar Apple to Cherimoya rootstock, you will get Atemoya, My question is, If you plant the seeds of Atemoya, are you getting Atemoya fruit that identical to Mother? another question If my rootstock is Atemoya and graft to Atemoya scion, is that call Hybrid? Another question how about Cherimoya rootstock and graft to Atemoya scion is that call Hybrid? We are here at Orlando, Fl Thank you for your response Keep planting
@Tropical Bay Area Okey Thank you for that, I was really confused, At home I have many sugar apple trees and one Geffner Atemoya tree. Both of them were flowering and I tried to pollinate Atemoya, because not enought male flower ,so I was taking male pollen from sugar apple and mannualy pollinating to Atemoya female flowers, So it will develop right? my question is, the fruit will be the same? Atemoya fruit? or it will be different? thanks for the response
I have in my back yard a single flowering Paw Paw, a Susquehanna and, like all paw paws, an annona relative, Asimina Triloba. My Susquehanna paw paw tree back there amongst the cherimoyas and atemoyays, which I call annona-land, produced three flowers for the first time this spring, but none of my other ten paw paws were flowering at all. So I took pollen from an El Bumpo cherimoya in desperation and spread it over the stigmas of my big, wine colored paw paw flowers that began to look very mature. ONE paw paw flower held and began to produce a single "finger" as I call it. Man, am I babying that single Susquehanna fruit, which is about an inch long right now. Anyone out there ever hear otherwise than one can successfully make such a bizarre trans generic cross pollination. It seems so bizarre to me. I live in zone 10, southern california.
I used guava pollen once and it worked. What other pollen can be used? Does it have to be pollen from a fruit tree or flowers ex. Hibiscus, wildflowers etc???
i have a custard apple tree in zone 9 it had a few leaves indoors for 7 months and then I put it outdoors . the leaves stared drooping one day so I watered it. then the leaves dried out . so I brought the 1 ft tree into a covered area. scared to cut off the 3 branches then only the trunk will be left ...any help appreciated
@Tropical Bay Area I didn't hear back from you so I thought I never was going to hear back so I cut it down to 3inches and last year I did get a few leaves but I think it's just too cold here in zone 9
I've seen many videos on the subject and this one is by far the most detailed and informative. Thank you!
Har is a legend!
Dear Har thank you for your job!

Best video on the subject. Thanks!
Hi..Mr.Har..!! Very nice videos.I just subscribed and liked.
Very helpful, didn’t know before that these fruit needed hand pollination
Finally some annona knowledge from Har. And he didnt have to wear goofy suites or forced to eat mangos on camera this time. :) Keep them coming!
Har "forced to eat mangos" ???

One of my fave trees
I fully enjoyed that vieo
I have a seedling cherimoya a grafted one from homedepot and a atemoya on the way hoping to cross pollinate all three and get something new !!
How about the result? Did u success
Thank you good information

If you put sugar apple trees indoor during winter, under room temperature will it continue growing or go into dormancy ?
Ca you refrigerate the pollen over night? Viable next day?

Thank you for the informative video :) Are there beetles that can pollinate them everywhere in the US?

Do Nitidulid beetles cause problem to other vegetable and fruit plants in garden? TIA
Interesting!

I grafted a Rollinia scion onto a Sour sop rootstock & she's looking real healthy
How much time flower need to grow into fruit after pollination
Har Mahget'em!
Hi! can this method be applied to rollinias as well?

Can’t help at all with what you have going on but not am I intrigued! Please let us know how it goes!
Are you selling graviola trees ? I want to buy one. Where you at in FL ?
Where can I buy different types of Anona seeds?
I never seed production influences flavour of the fruit why is that So?
Can you use sugar apple pollen to pollinate atemoya??? Thank you
Yes. Cherimoya and Custard apple will work as well
I used guava pollen once and it worked. What other pollen can be used? Does it have to be pollen from a fruit tree or flowers ex. Hibiscus, wildflowers etc???
Hi, could you do a video to show how to prune annonas like cherimoya and when to do it? Thanks
I'd love some seeds...reticulata or a California worthy variety...thanks

The beetles tend to eat up the flowers too. All the flower have been gnawed upon. All this time, I thought they were pests
That tree has to be at least 15 years old!
More like 30 years old
Is Har your grandfather? Just curious
He'd have to be 120 + years old if he is...
What kind flowers used for polo
Sowersoap
