The punch 45 was the first car audio product I owned. It started a hobby in the early 90s and now in 2022 it's basically my career. Selling stuff I personally enjoy using myself. I never even knew of his early days and his huge influence on home audio. RIP Foz
He will be truly missed like all the other great audio gods, he is with the other audio firsts like Sal Marantz, Frank Mcintosh, this was a very good dedication and documentary on one man's dream and aspiration to build and bring to the world an experience in sound that would make it's mark on the world. Rip Sir.
They should have kept the series one around I still have the series from 4-in to 15s old stereo Fosgate. The amps were awesome. I'm glad stereos came back with the vengeance not as much as the 90s it's getting there though.
Rest In Peace Jim, we all owe you a debt of gratitude for the contributions you have made to the audio world. This is a greatcdocumentary about a beautiful soul.
Mr. Fosgate deserves a much larger and descriptive page on Wikipedia telling the story of his life and his accomplishments in the audio electronics world! Rip Mr. Fosgate.
Was introduced at the age of 13 in 1989 by my late uncle Robert. PUNCH !! Have had many brands. Jl audio, kicker, mtx, american bass! For the price value and quality Rockford fosgates i always fell back too. I just had a p300 12 put in my new 23 civic hatch sounds so pretty with my midsn highs! This man and his family worked hard !! Had no clue how hard he worked and the ingenuity he had!! Ty from South Mississippi!! R/F !!!!!
RIP Jim you don't know the impact your technology has had on my life but it wouldn't have been the same without you. I exclusively use RF amps there is none better for quality of sound, material, and reliability. With how much I feel music when I'm playing it or listening to it your designs have always made it better. Thank you and please rest easy.
I'm with you. I still remember putting the 200ix behind subs and 60ix for dash/deck speakers into my 1990 Z24 when I was seventeen. Such quality, and I still have and am running those amps today.
I hand wrote a letter to him using the only street address I could find. This was at least 10 years ago but I still recall the disappointment I felt when it was returned, address unknown. Wish I could have met him, and shook his hand.
Damn good flick I watched it 1-3 in one go... its crazy how beat on he was and how he just never gave up.. honestly I have to thank him for what audio is today because it's such a big part of my life I wouldn't be running sundown today if fosgate never was a thing g
Awe man, I just found this channel. I started in Car Audio when I was 14 years old and started playing around in the late 80's. I worked for two car audio stereo shops in the early 90's. I remember I use to ditch high school something to hang out at the local stereo shops in my neighborhood. I remember my first Rockford Fosgate car amplifier which was The Punch 300. I didn't know anything Jim until now. I need to watch part 1 and 2 now. I will say that the marketing was the big winner to sell lots of there products.
It’s one thing to have the DESIRE to create, yet quite another to have the intelligence and capability to take an idea from conception, to fruition. But to NEVER give up, and to disallow fear, failure, or doubt to absolutely stifle his creativity and pioneering spirit… this is the true embodiment of being a visionary, an entrepreneur. A REAL entrepreneur. The fire within this man undoubtedly fueled a vast group of very caring and supportive people. Thanks for sharing his life through this documentary.
The genius and kindness both that was inside this man was truly something unique, RIP Jim and thank you for everything you did for sound and music enjoyment.
My very first sub boxes I built with my dad had 2 Fosgate 12"s and amp. I was excited when they started doing the factory systems for Mitsubishi when I bought my Lancer. I have only ever used RF audio equipment in my cars. Fosgate changed my life, and I didn't even know anything about him. Thank you for posting.
God bless,a true icon that set the bar for car audio.never forget the bass he produced…deepest condolences to his loving family.I remember him,Back when subs were made with love and respect for beating the block down.had many, miss the old ones the most.
This is so awesome. I worked at a Car Stereo shop in the Mid 90s and loved the Fosgate equipment. I still have a few old Amps under my bench waiting to be used again.
What a beautiful story. Our bloodline and people are amazing. My only regret after seeing this is that I never met him to experience in person, his magical energy and brilliance.
This doc really shows how prolific he was. How many designs and modern tech us music lovers take for granted that he was on the forefront of. Pretty incredible
Épic!!! I still running my 500a2c on my power dvc 12 , like earlys 2000s , still sounding like first days , never imagine the history Behind those pieces of art, rip jim from argentina!!!
Wow...I added a Gavotte to my a/d/s/ amps, bi-amped speakers, 4 sub woofer system in 87(?) ..... That unit still drives the way I think of surround system design.... used it in a couple customer systems 89/90ish that did really good on the north east CAN/IASAC circuit..... Mine was a full size 85 Blazer with a stupid wide sound stage, but an acoustic hole at center stage....added the the Gavotte with an additional a/d/s/ 320i set in center of dash and P100 Power Plate (matching 5 speaker bi-amped) created a incredible sound stage......that's a total of 7 P100s..... etc.
This company helped me excel in Car Audio in the 90’s and was the greatest amps and speakers for the money in Car Audio.I also was a sponsored competitor and set many records in my S-10 Blazer with 9(10” subs and the power 800a2 amps).Still have a original Punch 45 Fosgate amps in my stack of trophies❤️
RIP Jim, I`m still loving your Signature Headphone Amp. To this day I have not found any other more pleasing to the heart and soul. You will be sincerely missed.
I enjoyed this bit of history, and much of the inside scoop, so to speak, I personally didn't know, but, I knew Jim and some of the trials of his adventure, and I can tell you this, He is one heck of a really nice guy and as smart as they come. He was always known from outside eyes looking in, as an innovator that just had a few bad apples involved in his life. So, the way this video was modestly put together and being exceptionally polite, by simply not calling out a few parties who caused some of his early days of misfortune, also goes to show, what a nice guy he is, and highly respected. But, I can tell you, if some of those known issues had happened to me, "YOU BET YOUR A$$, I'M GONNA BLAST YOUR NAMES ALL OVER THE PLACE FOR THEIR MISDEEDS AGAINST ME AND MY FAMILY'S WELL BEING".. LOL... But, again, that is why he is a super nice guy. For what it is worth, I still have two Pro-Line stick radio's from the early 80's, that just sat on the shelf as old stock that the foreign manufactures were making their cheaper units, so his sat on the shelf, but I got them anyway, as I wanted to hook them up to 3 axis gimble for CCTV mounts and not need to punch holes in my roof.. and never did, and still have the radios though new in box..... I should did one of those out and hit the local RC race track, LOL... That would be so cool, rockin some old school stick controls..LOL
Wow… now I know who the real person was behind “surround sound” and “pro logic 2” What an amazing audio elite and amazing story behind this true genius. I can only imagine how much the value would be to still have working pieces of his audio art that he first produced as Fosgate then as Fosgate Audionics
In the 90s and lat I started my first system Fosgate power and never had to get another one. Series 1 was my first. What's the point of using anything different.
📌🌴 Incredibly Interesting but ya know at the same time with this new closeness ya know my Rockford amp would heat up stop working; good at 1st but then it stopped working all together. The small screw would strip the terminals would loosen.I think Interesting genius doesn't have to stop with this story. But actual locations to work on your existing equipment and Even ... to custom the amps with better stuff, upgrades.I feel as Interesting this story is to me it falls short that's my opinion. Were left with what we can get and the intrest that something better a new model better opitions is around.I feel even today there's more sound ideas and business that can easily compete and make it better and line up with where Rockford and other sound companies have left off.Where it's not about the warranty and the upgrade next year. But way more opitions and a better personal touch to sound equipment.

It was about bringing the enjoyment of listening to music the way it should be enjoyed. His contributions shaped the audio industry and there wouldn't be several innovations without his designs.

Such an EPIC documentary! Shows the importance of never giving up!!

It's a shame that Rockford Corp. Is a shell of what it once was much love and respect for a true pioneer
Most mainstream audio companies are, they sell trash in the name of profit.
If you are a BASS head you have at least one OG Fosgate in your home.
Yep. I've still got two Punch 150hd's and a punch 30
I have 3 right now and one is 30 years old.
