The head of the spark plugs that connect on the top turned on my gmc sierra 95
I have the same truck with what was the same issue , it was some wires under the steering wheel that were unconnected , sauntered them back together and she started working. I wanna say it had something to do with my security system
Cap and rotor check them it’s been sitting and they get really corroded if you have fuel pressure replace them
Have you checked or changed the distributor not the distributor cap but the hole distributor with age they can oval out and give a bad signal to the computer and not run. Does it turn over
It does turn over and I might have the change the distributor.
Its either that or maybe the starter shorting out
Check your cap n rotor my button burnt out n lost spark just recently would crank no start !
I changed that recently so I would hope it wouldn’t be bad.
Have you sprayed starting fluid/brake clean in the intake to see if it runs on that? If it runs then it is fuel related. If not then its compression or spark.
Could be the ignition control module, I just had to change mine in my 97 k1500.
Check the voltage at the plug from the fuel pump on the tank I had my wiring go out on mine just randomly
Will do, thank you!
You should try bringing it to a reputable shop, or to the dealer who installed your new motor, and see if any of them have any ideas, might need to have a scanner hooked up that can monitor spark and fuel levels and see if anything is off. Just my opinion.
I am about at that point.
New to here but did you check the fuel pump relay it’s up against the firewall super cheap and easy fix
I forgot all about that. I will check into that. Thank you!
I’d do that then put a new cap and rotor in (plugs would help too ) but bad plugs shouldn’t inhibit it from starting I’ve driven them on 4 cylinders it just runs like crap , if u think it’s a fuel issue put a new fuel filter in and just make shure u got a good ground and power etc going to the fuel pump ,,, all th8ngs I listed are super cheap and easy fixes
Could be the ignition coil, not sure if those trucks have a pickup coil in the distributor or not, I know the early obs did and that’s a common source.
if it’s a 96 I would definitely look into the spider injectors. Check the oil to see if it smells like gas. If the oil smells like gas, it’s definitely an issue with the spider injectors. 96 was the worst year of them.
If it’s got over 200,000 miles, definitely change out the distributor. Around 200k they tend to bend slightly and Waller out. If it’s a 95 it’s an easy change. If it’s a 96 you’ll need a computer to program it because they have electronic distributors, and if it’s over +/- 4° retarded or advanced the truck won’t start.
You may have also jumped timing in the timing chain. Timing chains are way easier to change than they seem, and most people over look them. If it’s been having a rattling noise, look there. If you’ve been low on power the timing chain can cause that too.
Could also be the theft lock computer. They’re known to short out. There’s a bypass you can do, I saw it on tiktok. Gonna try to find you on there so I can tag you in the video.
Lots of possibilities but all just guessing at this point because I haven’t heard the truck try to turn over.
