This Shiva temple was supposed to have existed more than 1000 years ago itself. It is located in a very ethnic suburb called Mylapore, that got it's name from very old times as this place used to be actually a big forest with lots of Peacocks. This temple is very sacred and it's worshipped by all Hindu people.
