I have a Mitsubishi Outlander GT and I can tell people from owning my Outlander for over a year that it's the best vehicle I have owned to date. I have taken mine off road multiple times at Joshua Tree, rocky mountain path, and much more. Plus long 8 hour road trips all over and this vehicle starts up like it was nothing. The new refined seats are really comfortable with more soft touch. I highly recommend anyone to buy a Mitsubishi because they will last a very long time and have a excellent warranty to match.

Probably getting one of these soon. I rather love the way it looks over the newer design SUV's like RAV4(ugh) and CRV. It is angular and fairly clean styling and looks awesome in Blue or Black with the black wheel option. I am also not a fan of all these new tiny displacement engines with gasoline direct injection and worse..adding a turbo. Engines with direct injection are WELL known to have issues with valves getting gummed up around 80k-100k miles, or so. Means they require extra maintenance every 20-30k if you want to keep them running optimally, or else performance suffers. This "old" Outlander Sport uses reliable Port injection with no valve carboning issues and no turbos stressing a tiny engine like the new Honda CRVs with their oil dilution issues. Also the price is right on these...22k for a brand new 2.4L & AWD one with heated seats ...and comes in 7-8k cheaper than a fricken base RAV4.

    • @kylemas2005

@MrThePrivateer You know how many cars not even 30 years ago had less than 74 hp, quite alot I assure you. The Mirage only weighs 2000lbs and the 3cyl is peppy, especially with a 5speed but doable with the CVT as well. After 6 months of having a used one, theyre a great value for the $. $7600 total for a 2014 with only 45k miles was my out the door costs. Insurance cheap, cost to own cheap, cost to maintain cheap. Its a shitbox for sure, but its fun as hell to drive on tight city streets, u-turning like ah muthafucka and only using 2 lanes is fun. 🤙

Here is the thing; I drive 200 miles PER day , and my Mitsubishi Mirage has no problems at all. I spend around 16$ to fill the tank .. while my friends are spending 60$ to fill a tank for a truck.. what can I say? Is Mitsubishi Mirage the most cool looking car ?? Absolutely not . Do people make fun of me for owning one ? Absolutely yes . But , ask yourself, my car brings me money , and less time of work for me . This is a compact SUV, not subcompact. The back seat is way too cramped for family use. The rear doors are narrow, don't open wide enough, and the rear setback is positioned very upright. Not terribly hospitable for adults.
We've had our 2015 Outlander Sport GT in our household since new. We love it! It was thousands cheaper than a comparable Honda CRV or Toyota Rav4. It's small enough to be maneuverable around the city, but comfortable enough for long trips. We've taken on a few 7hr trips. Although the seats are firm, they are well contoured and properly supportive. We have another vehicle with super plush seats and those leave me with a back ache after about an hour. Can't do trips in that vehicle.
Yes, the interior is dated and this vehicle is an old design, but the bugs have been worked out and it's quite reliable. We've had zero problems from it. I don't know where else you can buy an SUV for under $20k with the features this offers and good build quality and reliability. People who don't want this vehicle because of the old design are missing out. Unless you've got money to burn on a Honda or Toyota.

Mitsubishi, like Subaru has a long history of off road rally racing and have owned the Dakar rally. This translates into engineering know how. On their CUV's like the Outlander Sport for example, you have 8.5 inches of ground clearance and all the parts are tucked up tight out of harms way. In addition, you can select between modes
      2wd, 4wd auto and 4wd lock
With 4 wheel lock, 50% of the power is directed to the rear wheels. for offroad, sand or mud. 4 wheel auto the car uses traction and conditions to determine the ratio of front to rear power distribution.
This is good for icy roads and snow.
Most of the competition in this class don't share this ability.

I have the front seat pushed all the way back but there's still leg room in the second row. I'm retired and I don't drive much so this vehicle is perfect plus it has decent get up and go also good mileage. I like the way it sits up higher than most cars and it's easy to get in and out of.

I find more and more when watching RUclips car reviews that the more "features" the car doesn't have, the more I like it. (That's assuming I'm also not being charged for those things, of course). Saying a vehicle is "like a 1990s car" is not necessarily a bad thing to me and to many other people. We don't all need or want fancy "infotainment systems" and "soft touch" dashboards that you never touch while driving anyway. For $20K with a great warranty and a 0-60 time about 20 seconds faster than an old VW Beetle, this thing sounds pretty decent to me.

That's why we have the Honda Accord Sport, Toyota Camry sport, Subaru Outback Sport.....it's every company that just throws the word sport in everything even though in the past and now it has no part in being a sport vehicle with front wheel drive, 2.0 or 1.8 liter engine, and just the same basic vehicle as their counterparts...i think it's such a joke and a waste of money when people buy a Honda accord sport or something like that because all they do is just raise the torque a bit but leave the hp the same and now people can take off faster but with less hp. I think the sport in this Mitsubishi comes from the fact that it can go off road, has different driving modes, and handle more than the avenge Toyota rav4 which itself is just a Corolla that just sits higher and that's all.

Don't drive this car like he does when he's testing the acceleration or you will toast that CVT in no time. Yeah you could get it replaced under warranty but that is such a hassle to go through not to mention the time you will be without your car and when they replace the CVT it won't be with a brand new CVT it will be with a factory rebuilt unit which some of those factory rebuilt CVT's are self destructing within 5k miles of being installed. If you can, forget about the Outlander Sport and move up to the regular (bigger) Outlander and choose the V6 engine which will come with a regular automatic transmission rather than a CVT. Much better set up. The CVT in the Outlander Sport is what kills it.
