    Hi Rob, Jose from Puerto Rico. I just received a notification that my OM-1 is coming in on the 27th from Adorama. I'm saving all your setup videos to get rolling once it gets here. I'll keep you posted.

    Rob; great job and even greater patience! Once again you are forced to try to explain Olympus (OM) camera control menus that should not need explaining!
    Early on when the home computing market was just taking off and Apple came out with the first version of the Macintosh computer, I went to consider buying one. I asked if I could borrow a manual to better understand how difficult it might be to learn how to use the Macintosh computer; the salesman with a big smile told me there was no manual, that the Mac had been designed by Apple not to require a manual, it operates logically. Having come from an engineering background I found this response confusing, how could there not be a manual? So, I purchased a Mac and when I got it home, I realized it did not need one. Unfortunately, Olympus or OM-Systems did not hire any x- Apple staff.

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  2 года назад

      Thanks, George. I try. I had a similar experience with Apple back in the day. Rather than being confused, I just wrote them off. I thought it was arrogant for them to assume their system was so good that it didn't need something. I don't want to get into it now. It still makes me mad. They make fine products. I need to get over it I suppose.

    • @robertcudlipp3426

      No, Apple is simply an arrogant company. I refuse to purchase any of their products apart from the iPad which I find both useful and reliable.

    Hi Rob hope you are in good health and as always thanks for your hard work. I was thinking about upgrading from dxo filmpack 5 to 6, just wondered if you have, is so is it worth it and are there noticeable changes/ advantages. Have a great weekend, all the best from England.

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  2 года назад

      I'm doing well, thank you. I didn't upgrade to filmpack 6. I don't use the filmpack 5 enough to justify upgrading. I like it time to time, but prefer editing the images myself.

    I appreciate all your videos, but notice that you only have only made one review of the Olympus E-M10 IV that I know of. (Where you compare it with other Olympus cameras.) I recently bought the E-M10 IV and am dismayed to find that there are no “Mysets” in that camera. (My own fault for not investigating it better.) Is there any way to save alternate sets of settings on alternate spots I don’t ordinarily use on the main MODE DIAL? One of your avid followers: John Parks

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  4 месяца назад

      Hi John, it's unfortunate they didn't include any way to save custom settings in the EM10IV. It went away starting with the Mark III. I don't know any way to do it.

    As a Sony shooter, Olympus is the most confusing camera ever.

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  11 месяцев назад

      Yes, I understand. There is very little continuity between brands.

    Can OM1 users with experience on other systems please comment on the EyeAF with human subject capabilities on the OM1 compared to to line bodies from Canon and Sony?

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  2 года назад

      The only experience I have is when I borrowed a Canon RP last year, before I had the OM-1. However, I did compare it against the E-M1 Mark iii. They were virtually identical in Eye-AF performance. I can only surmise that the OM-1 would be equal if not better than the E-M1 Mark iii. I hope others will chime in for you.

      For people,portrait, head shots, I purchased a 2nd hand Sony a6400 and a magic Sigma 56 1.4.
      That was a number of years' ago.
      Surely the OM1 has IAF that is equal to that in a compact aspc camera released? 5 years' ago?

    Hey Rob I'm not hearing the beep when I'm in focus. Shooting in Aperture priority and set it to allow in the menu.

      The speaker may be turned off. Go into the wrench menu, page 3, then turn the speaker on.

      @@RobTrek got it! Works perfectly now! One more thing after that new firmware I'm confused at the moving box as I AF. Is it telling me something? I don't remember having it there before.

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  2 года назад

      @@DaisysWorld192 It's a face or subject detect box. Try turning off face detect and subject detect in the AF menu page 2. The only other thing it might be is the Handheld Assist box. You can turn that off in Shooting Menu 1, page 8.

      @@DaisysWorld192 You don't need it. I'm not sure how useful it is. I suppose it's there for a reason but damned if I know.

Today is 1/07/23 I understand that the OM1 had a firmware update to 1.3 My camera came with 1.2 I Have a mac with the latest software upgrade. My problem is my computer is not talking to my Apple in that my apple is not seeing my camera to download the firmware or to read files in workflow software Can you help

      Hi. I’m sorry but I’m not familiar with Apple products. The only thing I can offer is to suggest trying the OM Image Share App on your cell phone. Also, there are some great people at mu-43.com that might be able to help with your Mac.
