2019 ZR2 owner here. 21k miles and counting! I've been taking offroading classes with it and it has exceeded my expectations. Added above cabin storage and a rooftop tent to the back for camping. No complaints, the stock 31" do a fine job at what I'm wanting to do with it offroading wise.

Thank you for an ACCURATE true Daily Driver report!!!!
As you can tell by my avatar I have the EXACT same truck in the diesel. I had to go 5 hours north to Michigan to get the Blue/Diesel combo. Worth every minute!!!!!
While the truck has inspired me to go off-roading. I know I will never test it's full capabilities in stock form. However, the more I daily drive it, the more I WANT to keep driving it. I have an extensive truck history, but a race car heritage. I tend to drive my vehicles like the road is my own personal race course. The wider wheeltrack/DSSV suspension combo create very a high quality and confidence inspiring ride. Potholes have become a laughable afterthought.
Lastly, to address the critics of my choice of the Duramax. It boils down to simply this......On the daily, accelerating on the TORQUE vs the horsepower is such a different feeling and IMHO much more fun. The lack of necessary downshifts to accelerate is addicting and adds to the quality of the DAILY DRIVE.

As far as technology goes? A 6! Come on girl! The others don’t even have the OnStar 4 G LTE WIFI!!! Just because that particular ZR2 doesn’t have the factory Navigation! Don’t fault the whole line!! Even without it, everyone has a smart phone now, so what does Nav matter with CarPlay? Sure the Jeep an Ranger has it available, but only in the higher trim levels, my Colorado Crew Cab WT,4x4, V6, has a fantastic 7” touch screen with Apple CarPlay! That actually works fantastic!

This is my daily driver. Feeling somewhat happy. Occasionally taking it offroad too. The roads around here are so bad that most of the time it feels like offroad anyway, so in ZR2 the ride is exceptionally smooth. Still, kind of wish I bought Ridgeline but they had an awesome deal for ZR2 here, so I had to get it instead. If anything goes wrong with this truck down the road I will trade it for Ridgeline, but for now, I've put 4k on it so far and am reasonably happy.

I’ve had my 2019 ZR2 almost 2 years now . It’s been my 1st truck and I like almost everything about it; but I wish it had more tech like smart cruise control, lane detection etc (it seems like there could be a button to turn it off if you do go off road) . If I had to describe it I’d say it’s like a Swiss Army knife. I do notice when I get more than two people in the truck though the cabin space can get cramped, and for that reason I’ve been looking at a trail boss but I’m not sure if I’m ready to take on a bigger truck and the price tag along with it.

I bought my 2020 ZR2 specifically because it had a 6ft+ bed on the "extra cab' you couldn't get a TRD Tacoma in a extra cab (Toyota TRD was $6-8K more than the ZR2). I'm not a big fan of 4 door compact pickups. I see between 20-18MPG on my long road trips which is good given the terrible areodynamics of a ZR2 I had rented a 2wd V6 Colorado previously and observed 24-26MPG with that truck. You pay a huge mileage penalty with the ZR2 option but, I go to Pacific Coast beaches and find the lockers have saved me several times in my beach journeys. My big complaint, basic black interior can be depressing.

If chevy upgrades the interior on the Colorado mid cycle refresh im there. 43000 for a mid size truck deserves a premium interior and some more tech.

i have a 2020 Colorado ZR2 V6 and have found that the top speed is much lower then the 2020 ranger XLT with the FX4 which i was extremely disappointed specially since it also gets much lower gas mileage, so to sum it up Colorado ZR2 is slower then the ranger and gets worse gas mileage then the 2020 ranger but plus side with ZR2 it has front lockers which i like but doesn't have crawl control or i haven't found how to use it yet! (oh 2020 ranger XLT FX4 4cyl. turbo 17-19city 22-25Highway 0-60 6.4 top speed for limiter 110) 2020 Colorado ZR2 v6 13-15city 16-18 highway 0-60 6.8 top speed limiter 97) these was what i was disappointed with! but don't get me wrong i do love my Colorado its off-road is better then i hoped for just wish it has crawl control and better mpg and mine didn't find 1 that had bind spot monitoring which my wife needs to help her drive which that is something standard on the ranger!

Finally, a vehicle review that is closer to my "personal problem needing a solution" (well, ONE of my personal problems) -- a review on the Colorado ZR2. AND, as Lauren said, this review is based on highway driving vs. off-road, which is of interest: Since I want my next vehicle to be a Daily Driver (do not want to own more than 1 vehicle), with only occasional "serious" off-roading involved (but not rock/boulder-crawling!), how it is for everyday driving is hugely important to me.
In about 18-24 months, I plan to get a new Daily Driver (currently have a 2016 Honda Pilot AWD, with its excellent iVTM4 AWD system) in order to get (1) real 4x4 drive, (2) a bit higher ground clearance, and (3) a higher towing-capacity than the Pilot's 5000lbs.
I'll be moving back to CO later this year, and would like a more capable vehicle not only for "serious" snow conditions (on and off road) up there as CO sometimes experiences in Winter (in the foothills/Front Range, when visiting ski resorts up in the mountains/higher elevations), but also for "touring" (!) some of the numerous mountain passes CO has -- and as the posted signs there say, a "high-clearance/4x4 vehicle beyond this point" recommended! Some ALSO say "expert driver" -- which isn't me YET (if ever)...but that's another topic. ;-)
The Pilot MIGHT make some of those passes, but even on the easier ones I'd even attempt in the Pilot, there may be difficult spots where it'd probably get a bit beat-up or break something (and I don't want that unnecessary damage, nor was the Pilot designed to DO those things).
So presently I have 3 vehicles on my Short List: Ford Ranger with FX4 and Tow packages, Chevy ZR2 (if not a Bison), and a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon (2-door preferable).
    >> However, to keep on-topic here -- since this video is about the Chevy Colorado ZR2 -- my 2 main issues with it are (1) it's poor MPG numbers (compared to the Ranger and Jeep) and low towing-capacity (no better than my Pilot and way under the Ranger). True, I'll not be towing a trailer (at least a large/heavy one) out in the sticks, but WILL tow one occasionally on the highway -- I'd like to have ABOVE a 5000lbs towing-capacity to give me a bit more cushion, as I want to keep the item towed well-under the max towing limit...
While the Jeep has better MPG than the ZR2, it's towing-capacity is the worst at 3500lbs -- a 6x12 U-Haul trailer is almost 2000lbs EMPTY! As for the Jeep, reliability (a HUGE factor for me in ANY vehicle-buying decision) is a nagging concern that Jeep management STILL seem to be ignoring. But FOR SURE the 2-door Jeep would be BEST for those mountain passes with tight turns/switchbacks -- I'd have a little harder time with the Ranger and ZR2.
So while I would LIKE to have a very capable on-road (mainly)/off-road (occasionally) vehicle, it looks like the Ford Ranger OVERALL would be the best fit vs. the ZR2 and Jeep. And although the Ranger (even with the FX4 package) isn't as capable as the ZR2 and Jeep Rubicon, it can do MOST of what those other two can do, yet give me the better MPG, towing capacity and highway driving/handling.
The good news is though we don't know what these 3 vehicles will look like in 2021 and 2022 -- or if something NEW will be offered in 1-2 years -- so by THEN the ZR2 (or even Jeep) may be the better choice -- or not. The Ford Ranger Raptor should be here by then, so I'd be comparing it to the REGULAR Ranger (FX4), and the REGULAR ZR2, as well as the Colorado ZR2 Bison...and of course, what Jeep Wrangler Rubicon has going for it in 2021/2022.
As for RELIABILITY, I suppose it's a toss-up between the Ford and Chevy, as both would probably be the same. So getting either the Ranger or Colorado would be about equal in that regard. Jeep comes in last, unless they're improved and I'm not being fair basing it on its past reputation. :-(
Were I to buy right NOW, however, I'd lean toward the ZR2 just on it's very capable specs and "vibes" it gives (as being a serious off-road vehicle)...but keeping vibes out of it, it makes more practical non-emotional sense to go with the Ranger for MY needs (vs. "wants" -- like a mean-looking but highly-capable off-road truck!).
Fortunately, I don't HAVE to make the decision now -- I've got until the 2021 models come out...or wait and factory-order a 2022 as soon as that's possible (mainly so I don't get assorted "packages" on a dealer's lot vehicle I don't need and so don't want to pay for...and also more color choice).
Still, the current ZR2 IS pretty tempting. Especially the one in the "Sand Dune Metallic" color...except our sand here (West TX) is more of a light red color. ;-)

I got my ZR2 in 2017. So much has changed in the market since then. I think the Ranger would be the best fit for you. Although the resale value is not known at this time. It is a solid truck. The resale on the ZR2 is still very strong and use low milage trucks are in high demand. Best of luck in your search for a new rig.

@@TrailAdventuresTV Thank you for your reply! I'll continue researching the 3 vehicles mentioned and compare the three 2021 models when they appear (will be back in Colorado before I buy anything, not here in Texas). I'm guessing, however, the choice will be between the Ford Ranger (or Ranger Raptor) and the Chevy ZR2 (or Bison). I have to say though, the ZR2 has a bit more pull on me "vibes-wise" than the "more sedate" looking Ranger, but we'll see in due time, when the 2021s are available.

Wonder where the TERM snorkel originated from? The term implies water fording too depths past outside mirrors. Stupid.
Raised air intakes with pre-filters are specifically designed for extreme dust. Having the raised intake duct allows clean air to the engine while traveling at speed/s over desert terrain.
If in FACT GM refers such intake as snorkel - well then? Where exactly would the exhaust extended exhaust pipe be stored? Behind the rear seats? As it too would mandate having to raise to exact hight as front snorkel.
Also; On Chevy’s accessories webpage, I see no optional underwater breathing gear offered for those wishing to play submarine or deep water fording...
If I failed to see any of this?
    Forget what I said. 🤢🤢

I MAYBE WILLING TO CHECK OUT CHEVY OR GMC NEXT YEAR WHEN I PLAN TO BUY A NEW TRUCK UNLESS FORD MAKES SOME CHANGES LIKE A V6 NO TURBO AND DO SOMETHING WITH THAT STUPID ENGINE CUT OFF SWITCH THAT YOU CAN’T SHUT OFF AND YOU CAN’T FOLD THE REAR SEAT DOWN ALL THE WAY DOWN IN THE 4 DR

I disagree I about the Safety Tech B.S. a lot of new driver Safe technology is not what I want in a new vehicle I learned how to drive before that tech was available and I have seen how long it takes for any manufacture to get It right!!! I.E. ABS brakes traction Control this took along time to get it right and it is expensive crap to fix or replace. I can drive a vehicle with out that Crap and prefer not to have the new tech Like Blind spot monitoring, Back up assist, atomism braking, Auto start stop all of it is junk that makes vehicles cost way too much. This need to have a vehicle do the driving for me is Crap !!!! Lear how to drive!!!

What they dont tell you is how bad the DSSV shocks are, they aren't made for off-roading, they were made for street cars. If your shocks leak or break they are 1,500$ a shock!! They only last for about 15,000 miles.

The front DSSV shock system costs $1,231, and the rear is $1,543. There are plenty of other awesome options like a long-travel leaf spring system. When paired with the long travel rear shocks, suspension travel is increased by 11 inches. This new spring system costs $3,312.

Steven Peterson from what I read, hot weather plays a role. Also adding a lift or leveling it seems to cause the dssv to leak. On the other hand I also see zr2 owners with 50k plus and have no issues with the dssv.

This truck is no luxury vehicle meant for mom to ride around in ... it is a bad boy offroader and good on the road.. not meant for every tech option like a caddy .. it is great offroad close to a Jeep Rubicon and far better on the road like a Toyota... How is 2020 better power wise? The truck move 0 to 60 in 7.1 last I read puts it in muscle car range not bad for a pickup...

Dear Friends!!!!! This is a very important message. Anyone who buys a
new car from GENERAL Motors the chance you threw your money into the
trash is very large. In this company there is no customer service, the
company's management does not care at all, if you have a problem or a
malfunction, you can only pray to God there is a chance that the help
will come faster. GM is a very dangerous company, be careful and keep
    your money safe.!!!👎👎👎👎👎😬👎😬👎👎
