China's Belt and Road Initiative is long term, spanning many decades, and by abolishing the presidential term limits, our leaders can remain in power long enough to see BRI through till completion. Whereas President Biden will eventually have to step down after 4-8 years, he's not going to rival China's Belt and Road Initiative, when he can't even remain in power in America after 10 years.
When ever I talk about food and agriculture being a backbone of any nation, I usually get fobbed off and told Agriculture is not important in a modern society we can just import what we need. People still don't understand that we can live without alot of things. The things we need to live is food and water. I am glad that China is improving its agriculture and incorporating technology into it. Identify the problems and introduce safeguards and checks and reduce possible risks.

I notice there is a huge collaboration going on between China and Argentina. Last year, Argentina's export skyrocketed thanks to export to China. China also invested pig farming in Argentina in a huge scale until the people there protested. Many huge projects and businesses going on there. That might make the US uneasy, since Latin America is the "backyard" of the US and China is actively doing things there. Anyways, Buenos Aires alone has about ten thousand chinese-own sundry shops.

vertical farming only saves places, which the world does not lack except for large cities and cannabis industry. The rest of vertical farming, like economy and power consumption are no good.
Climate change is disrupting crops all over the world and reducing harvests. Vertical farming allows for _planned production, faster growing, automation and labour saving, zero pesticide use, space optimization_ as well as _less climate effects._ Not to mention that by through vertical farming, you are also relieving the horizontal farmland and giving time for the soil to recover. Deforestation is also not needed in vertical farming.

After multiple harvests, the soil eventually becomes infertile and needs to time to recover. Building a 10 storey building is initially expensive yes, but upon completion, it has the same building lifespan as any other constructed building. The crops inside the vertical farms are shielded from the elements and pests. Temperature, UV light and watering times can controlled and adjusted as desired. Eventually, the revenue and income from harvests will pay off the initial costs of building the 10-storey vertical farm.
Many businessmen in China invest quite a lot in Malaysia to grow Musang King durian, an extremely lucrative fruit with very high demand that can fetch a high price.
Exporting frozen durians to China doesn't really give it justice. The taste degrade after being frozen. Chinese should come to Malaysia to eat fresh durians instead once this pandemic is under control.

Very well done. My grandfather who owned AG land in China before the cultural revolution and lost every land he owned after the cultural revolution when he was in Malaysia. But he never blamed the CPC and just moved on. Later in his life, the CPC returned some of his land which he gave them to his relatives in China. So good to see CPC has a plan to improve the AG in China. My grandfather's dream live forever.
I think the Chinese ppl work like engineers. They see a problem then they try to solve that problem with practical and scientific solutions. No blame shifting, no kicking the can down the road. Which in the long term will only generate positive results for the ppl. It would be interesting to see the progress that mentality enables in a few decades.

6 months? No, they are getting 2400 square kilometer a year, which is amazing and insane. China needs 10-15 years for agri business to come to par with the west. However, I disagree on “Chinese farmers don’t have smart phones” Most of them do have smart phones, because there are cheaper domestic brands making super affordable phones for low end market. The real problem is that many elders and farmers don’t know much about how to utilize their smart phones.
As there are few Chinese with no smartphones anymore, it is indeed just a matter of time. I could have indeed said better that many farmers still need to learn how to become more digital savvy.

China's per capita consumption of meat is much less than most western nations. In 2020, it was 55.7kg per annum, which is around half of the USA. The average Chinese has to eat a lot more meat to catch up with the average American. Many ethnic minorities like to eat large chunks of beef or lamb. If China were to start discouraging them, won't that really look bad and be construed as an attempt at cultural genocide? You bet it will!

No, bringing water from south to north have been accomplished many years ago, now diverting water from the roof of the world (Tibet) to Xinjiang desert in on the agenda. I think tropical plants are grown in Hainan island, too bad the land there is limited. You can see the farmers in Hainan island are living in big and shiny houses, with green tint windows and shiny steel grills.

This is a question that also applies to the US and other nations with an exponentially growing population, in that so many of the resources and farming goes into the meat industry. Cows and pigs take up a significant portion of the fresh water supply and the majority of crops are grown specifically to feed them and not people. Hence, I think it is inevitable that we will be moving away from animal farming in future generations despite that both China and the US have a rising demand for meat production since the 1970s. I think President Xi Jinping could make a significant impact on China’s cultural dependence on meat, and instead promote the wonderful vegan meat products that originated from ancient Chinese Buddhist temples to steer China away from the toxic environmental consequences of a rising demand for animal products. Also organic farmers should be given govt subsidies and more support- or a mandate that organic farming practices should be the norm, as you mention, the dumping of toxic fertilizers is a problem that that affects the entire population and can no longer be isolated. I’ll be quite impressed if China leads in the organic food revolution. Certainly Russia can learn from China’s early mistakes in agriculture and adopt vertical farming, organic farming practices and less dependence on meat as they seem to be a nation in which agricultural exports is rapidly ascending and due to their large land mass, could quite easily become the food exporter for all of Europe and China.

Actually, many farmers are using smartphone to do e-commerce in China now, especially, the outbreak pushed more farmers to use smartphone and tech to manage their businesses. They have to thank the younger generation assigned to each provinces are teaching these farmers to use tech. Several countries also implemented this e-commerce idea too. Such as, Mexico students studied in China helped alot of Mexican farmers during the outbreak to implement e-commerce. You should have mentioned that China enforced 1 child policy was due to food security years ago, where the western countries failed to mention and instead they spin the news that China is not practicing human rights, freedom, etc. China is experimenting rice growing in space and they brought back seeds to grow in China too. China is also farming using sea water that many countries do not know about. There is a huge facility that supplies sea water for drinking too. Last time you talked about reforestation. Many of these desert lands turning green are using for farming as well. I believe it was in Qinghai, where farmers grow watermelons in the desert, while planting trees too.
I think China is crazy with water supply and irrigation. They seem to build a super long water channel between north and south to solve the water crisis.

Food grown today have only a small fraction of nutrients compared to food 30 years ago. Because recent farming techniques are degrading the soil, lowering its organic content, become less fertile. I hope chinese farmers figure out more sustainable ways to farm. Also very excited to see how technology is utilised in such amazing ways, cutting middle man. Hopefully farmers get a better deal because its not fair that they are doing back breakimg work and get only a small margin of profit. Thats why farmers are commiting suicide in many places and no one wanna be farmers

Your info about Yuan Long Ping is incomplete. Hybrid rice not only increase output by 20%, most importantly this variant is salt water tolerant (imagine the amount of barren land due to global warming now can be used again) and tastes good.
I am from Bangladesh and I have around 35 acre of farming land generating rice regularly. We have a similar history regarding agriculture like china. Is there any companies which are providing technical support outside of china , as I have already guessed the west technology is not gonna be viable for us but Chinese companies can offer some technical support. People still don't understand that we can live without alot of things. The things we need to live is food and water. I am glad that China is improving its agriculture and incorporating technology into it. Identify the problems and introduce safeguards and checks and reduce possible risks.

Vertical farming has a lot of benefits, I hope they improve this system and make it huge
vertical farming only saves places, which the world does not lack except for large cities and cannabis industry. The rest of vertical farming, like economy and power consumption are no good.
Climate change is disrupting crops all over the world and reducing harvests. Vertical farming allows for _planned production, faster growing, automation and labour saving, zero pesticide use, space optimization_ as well as _less climate effects._
Not to mention that by through vertical farming, you are also relieving the horizontal farmland and giving time for the soil to recover. Deforestation is also not needed in vertical farming.

Vertical farming is a fad. It is too expensive. A 10 story building is more expensive than 10 acres of farm land.

It depends on how you *quantify* the "expense." 10 acres of farmland first requires deforestation at the expense of animal habitats. The farmland is susceptible to the bad weather like flood and drought, pesticides are required to keep the pests away, and fertilizer seepage wreaks havoc at nature's expense again. After multiple harvests, the soil eventually becomes infertile and needs to time to recover.
Building a 10 storey building is initially expensive yes, but upon completion, it has the same building lifespan as any other constructed building. The crops inside the vertical farms are shielded from the elements and pests. Temperature, UV light and watering times can controlled and adjusted as desired. Eventually, the revenue and income from harvests will pay off the initial costs of building the 10-storey vertical farm.
Many businessmen in China invest quite a lot in Malaysia to grow Musang King durian, an extremely lucrative fruit with very high demand that can fetch a high price.
Exporting frozen durians to China doesn't really give it justice. The taste degrade after being frozen. Chinese should come to Malaysia to eat fresh durians instead once this pandemic is under control.

Very well done. My grandfather who owned AG land in China before the cultural revolution and lost every land he owned after the cultural revolution when he was in Malaysia. But he never blamed the CPC and just moved on. Later in his life, the CPC returned some of his land which he gave them to his relatives in China. So good to see CPC has a plan to improve the AG in China. My grandfather's dream live forever.

Most of them do have smart phones, because there are cheaper domestic brands making super affordable phones for low end market.
The real problem is that many elders and farmers don’t know much about how to utilize their smart phones.
As there are few Chinese with no smartphones anymore, it is indeed just a matter of time. I could have indeed said better that many farmers still need to learn how to become more digital savvy.

China's per capita consumption of meat is much less than most western nations. In 2020, it was 55.7kg per annum, which is around half of the USA. The average Chinese has to eat a lot more meat to catch up with the average American. Many ethnic minorities like to eat large chunks of beef or lamb. If China were to start discouraging them, won't that really look bad and be construed as an attempt at cultural genocide? You bet it will!

This is a question that also applies to the US and other nations with an exponentially growing population, in that so many of the resources and farming goes into the meat industry. Cows and pigs take up a significant portion of the fresh water supply and the majority of crops are grown specifically to feed them and not people. Hence, I think it is inevitable that we will be moving away from animal farming in future generations despite that both China and the US have a rising demand for meat production since the 1970s.
I think President Xi Jinping could make a significant impact on China’s cultural dependence on meat, and instead promote the wonderful vegan meat products that originated from ancient Chinese Buddhist temples to steer China away from the toxic environmental consequences of a rising demand for animal products. Also organic farmers should be given govt subsidies and more support- or a mandate that organic farming practices should be the norm, as you mention, the dumping of toxic fertilizers is a problem that that affects the entire population and can no longer be isolated.
I’ll be quite impressed if China leads in the organic food revolution. Certainly Russia can learn from China’s early mistakes in agriculture and adopt vertical farming, organic farming practices and less dependence on meat as they seem to be a nation in which agricultural exports is rapidly ascending and due to their large land mass, could quite easily become the food exporter for all of Europe and China.

Actually, many farmers are using smartphone to do e-commerce in China now, especially, the outbreak pushed more farmers to use smartphone and tech to manage their businesses. They have to thank the younger generation assigned to each provinces are teaching these farmers to use tech. Several countries also implemented this e-commerce idea too. Such as, Mexico students studied in China helped alot of Mexican farmers during the outbreak to implement e-commerce.
You should have mentioned that China enforced 1 child policy was due to food security years ago, where the western countries failed to mention and instead they spin the news that China is not practicing human rights, freedom, etc.
China is experimenting rice growing in space and they brought back seeds to grow in China too.
China is also farming using sea water that many countries do not know about. There is a huge facility that supplies sea water for drinking too.
Last time you talked about reforestation. Many of these desert lands turning green are using for farming as well. I believe it was in Qinghai, where farmers grow watermelons in the desert, while planting trees too.
I think China is crazy with water supply and irrigation. They seem to build a super long water channel between north and south to solve the water crisis.

Everyone needs to start planting food plants everywhere. Start your own garden. Supply shortages are going to hit the grocery store too. Who knows how to get food is the grocery stores are empty?
Food grown today have only a small fraction of nutrients compared to food 30 years ago. Because recent farming techniques are degrading the soil, lowering its organic content, become less fertile. I hope chinese farmers figure out more sustainable ways to farm.
Also very excited to see how technology is utilised in such amazing ways, cutting middle man. Hopefully farmers get a better deal because its not fair that they are doing back breakimg work and get only a small margin of profit. Totally agree that farmers need a better life. China will be investing billions in rural areas in next 5 years. This is going to be the biggest disruption for China in next years and farmers should benefit if the plan gets executed correctly.
Your info about Yuan Long Ping is incomplete. Hybrid rice not only increase output by 20%, most importantly this variant is salt water tolerant (imagine the amount of barren land due to global warming now can be used again) and tastes good.

I am from Bangladesh and I have around 35 acre of farming land generating rice regularly. We have a similar history regarding agriculture like china. Is there any companies which are providing technical support outside of china , as I have already guessed the west technology is not gonna be viable for us but Chinese companies can offer some technical support.
