Another Stellar shoot Richard, :) Love your work, very educational, still adding some gear to start, unfortunately, some other challenges have put me back another month or so How things change, a friend was escorted out from Bridport not that long ago due to flooding Thank you for your very informative post and must mention the pleasant viewing Regards, .............. Gary ......................AU
Great video, Richard, and another enthralling episode from your Tasmanian adventure. Just waiting for some clear skies here in the UK....we seem to be plagued with cloud and rain at the moment......itching to get the star tracker out again and capture the Milky Way before the end of the season. Thanks as always for the top quality content.
That single shot with the light rays soaring pretty well summed up my emotional high watching your video, Richard. I think this is my favourite video from your road trip so far (although they're all pretty special). You come across natural, honest, and plainly love what you do (and so do I). ATB from Western Australia.
Brilliant as usual Richard. A wee tip for you. I carry some Glad food covers (medium size) they look like shower caps, no weight in your bag, you can slip one over your camera if you think it is going to get wet. They are clear and you can see through them, they have elastic around the edge, if it is a bit windy you may need some additional tying down.
Thanks for sharing your images and stories! Continue to enjoy! I am leaving Tuesday for 5 days to shoot "nightscapes" at and near Mono Lake and Alabama Hills here in California. Will take what I learned from you with me!
Oh Richard, you never cease to amaze me, you are a legend, you don't knowhow inspired i feel by you. You are a master. How i would love to come and shoot in Australia, i love those skies. As alwaysi congratulate you. You are and always be number one for me. bye. From Italy.
Another awesome video of your Tassie adventure Richard. Your ability to capture the essence of every moment is awe-inspiring, and your composition skills are second to none. 🤩
What a beautiful set of images, Richard - thank you for sharing. An amazing trip. Love my Saturday mornings in the company of your videos - especially when clear skies are so absent here! Have a good week.
Spectacular images my friend! You didn’t let me down when you had that cupper, I knew a biscuit would come out! 😉 Such a beautiful adventure. Have a wonderful week my friend!☕️📷🍪
Thanks again Richard, great video. It's amazing how there is always a new way to get a timelapse wrong. Despite having been doing timelapses for years, I managed to stuff one up at Milford Sound with an unlevel track so the horizon moved through about 10 degrees as the camera moved along the track. Simple oversight while being savaged by sand flies but enough to right off the entire sequence. As you mentioned, there is no end to this journey, just always learning more.
Good advice regarding sometimes keeping things simple and learning throughout our journey. Well Richard, I just began my astrophotography journey not too long ago but you have been a constant inspiration to keep moving forward. Thank you! Jerry
Wow, can't believe how much you've managed to squeeze into this trip chasing the clear night skies. Loved your midnight tailgate commentary on there being no right and wrong approach to photographing nightscapes, just what works for you in the moment. It's interesting how nightscape photographers seem to get held more accountable than deep sky photographers when it comes to editing and how much is too much 😁. Maybe it's because we try to compare it to daylight landscape photography, or to what the eye can see versus what the camera can see. Quick question on the timelapse as I can't make the maths work - you mentioned the timelapse will run for 5 hours but 800 images at 15 seconds interval is well short of this time period, what am I missing?
Yes I just did the maths myself . .perhaps I had it set to 20 seconds ..!! I can't remember now. Yes we do tend to get stuck in a rut regarding our photography, and I agree that it's odd how we get judged based on different standards to other forms of photography.
OK sweet time lapse - Did you use the same exposure settings for every shot (ISO, F stop, shutter speed) or are you using shutter ramping as I can`t work out how the first part is exposed correctly and then later the night sky (Milkyway) is exposed correctly, I thought you would of needed longer exposures as the night got darker -
Every time you go into a road trip I know it means amazing wonderful videos!! We absolutely appreciate the high quality of your work not only those amazing photos but also the incredible videos you produce. Thanks and kind regards from Uruguay!
Love the concept of just trying different techniques, I think we all have to avoid getting stuck in the “this is the way we do it*. Another great video Richard. Would love a review of practicalities when traveling one day (charging batteries etc) as I am sure you will have lot of practical solution without too much expense 😁
Yes I see this as a common thread amongst nightscape photographers. . the lack of experimentation. That's how we learn so much. I do have the odd stay in accommodation to refresh and re-charge . .literally ..!!!
Fantastic, engaging and mesmorizing. Well done. You have a creative mind and eye for what the final image would be before the shot(s) are taken. You are a gentleman as well with a great character. Bless you.
Great inspirational video Richard, especially the bit about the different styles and getting out and giving it a go. I mentioned to you during the week that I completely missed or lost focus when fitting a lens warmer during a 2-hour, 12 x 4 row tracked sky and foreground panorama, but I still had a blast just being out under a clear dark winter sky in the silence of outback NSW @ 2am in the morning. Still a lot to learn, especially how to emulate your wonderful foregrounds, but Tassie does help a bit I reckon.
Great video as always! I've noticed that you have mastered one of the most important skills of night photography, having a correct cookie to tea dip ratio. A true master indeed! 😉
Feel like you are getting some serious mileage out of this trip to Tassie. Will just about have to come home for a rest! Fantastic stuff! Good job on pointing out the artistic element of this genre. I must admit I struggle with enjoying composites of a milky way sky taken at a different place and time to the foreground, other than that I think it's all within range. Like you say, none of it is visible to the naked eye so by definition we're dealing with the unseen. So much of it is about the process and journey of producing the image.
I've really enjoyed following you on your Tasmanian road trip Richard, reckon you had a great time! Funnily enough, we have our own Bridport close to where I live here on the south coast of the UK - a quaint market town just a mile or so from the sea.
As always fantastic images and video and don‘t take that the wrong way: I feel much better now if I see, that also a „master of photography“ sometimes forget to check the batteries. The last time I left my charged batteries on the table in the livingroom. I figured it out during the night when I was trying to switch my battery … That’s life my friend
Great video as always. Love the day to night Timelapse. Unfortunately every one I have tried to date has been a failure but I’ll get it right one day. 😊
Amazing as always. do you have a video on the setting up a time-lapse. I'm interested how you can go from daytime to night time without changing the camera setting so the daytime is not blown out if you set the camera to shoot correct night-time exposure
Hi Richard, At the 16.00 minute mark you show your tracked image EXIF. 4 x Tracked Sky Panorama @ f/2.8 60 seconds 1600 ISO. Do you mean you shot 4 panels to cover the sky then stitched them or do you mean 4 tracked and stacked images? Great results in Tassie as it never seems to fail your annual adventure 👌😎👍
Just standard single frame panorama Geoff. I rarely stack tracked shots these days ... Maybe Orion but never galactic core. Just one more video to come from Tassie . .but that may have to wait til I get the Benro Polaris first thoughts video done.
Richard, just more great compositions and results. I try to catch each video you release for my education. Your current sky pictures seem to be on the warmer side that earlier ones. I recall you saying you set your camera to 4000 K in the past. Are you using a warmer setting now? Thanks for all you do!
Thanks for your great support Bradley. Yes that's a decision I made quite a while ago. I often us 4800k these days .. but I always adjust in post processing anyway.
Loved this vid - amazing imagery, so inspiring and informative -thank you! For the day to night Timelapse - how do you manage the focus (and iso) before the stars are showing, given the Nikon focus by wire system? Hats off to you not getting the Heebie Jeebies on the trail at night- I jump if a squirrel breaks wind, let alone worrying about snakes and things you get down under!
Thanks so much for watching. The focus is fixed to infinity for the whole sequence. There weren't too many wild creatures in the bush at that time of year.
Once again just excellent and the locations are fabulous. Just curious what you use as a power bank for the camera? I'm sure you've mentioned it but I seem to have missed it...
Thanks again for watching John. I generally use a little Anker power bank to run the camera. You don't need a big one because it's just adding to the battery which is already full.
Another great video Richard. I love them. Quick question, were you using P mode for the time lapse? Thanks for everything you do. You've got me motivated to head out to the back yard.
Thanks again for looking. I set my Nikon Z6ii to "P" Program Mode with Auto iso. But I probably could have gotten the same result win Aperture Priority mode as it was pretty late when I began the sequence.
Another Stellar shoot Richard, :)
Love your work, very educational, still adding some gear to start, unfortunately, some other challenges have put me back another month or so
How things change, a friend was escorted out from Bridport not that long ago due to flooding

Another outstanding video. The images were breathtaking. I have so much to learn!
We all have much to learn David. . but it's worth the effort to see what's out there.
Great video, Richard, and another enthralling episode from your Tasmanian adventure. Just waiting for some clear skies here in the UK....we seem to be plagued with cloud and rain at the moment......itching to get the star tracker out again and capture the Milky Way before the end of the season. Thanks as always Simon. I hope the weather clears soon for you my friend.
Your Tasmania adventure seems to go on forever! What a fantastic trip you had!
Yes I did squeeze a lot out of that 2 week period ..!!!
That single shot with the light rays soaring pretty well summed up my emotional high watching your video, Richard. I think this is my favourite video from your road trip so far (although they're all pretty special). You come across natural, honest, and plainly love what you do (and so do I). Thanks for your encouraging comments Joan. I really appreciate it.

They are clear and you can see through them, they have elastic around the edge, if it is a bit windy you may need some additional tying down.
Thanks as always for watching Les. Yes I have a few of those shower caps .. but I didn't really think it was going to rain on this night ..!!!!
What a stunning view of Scorpius just above the horizon at ca. 9:45 😍
Thanks for checking it out Colleen.
Thanks for sharing your images and stories! Continue to enjoy! I am leaving Tuesday for 5 days to shoot "nightscapes" at and near Mono Lake and Alabama Hills here in California. Will take what I learned from you with me!
Thanks for watching Kerry. I hope your trip goes well.
You’re a master of your craft Richard. Such amazing images your captured and that time lapse is superb. Thanks for sharing mate 👍🙏
Thanks as always for your encouraging comments Adrian.

You're a very kind person Raffaele. I appreciate you watching.
Great Journey, great adventure, fantastic stories, photos and timelapse.
Thank you Richard for this video, have a good trip Richard 👏💫
As always I appreciate you watching Mario
Another awesome video of your Tassie adventure Richard. Your ability to capture the essence of every moment is awe-inspiring, and your composition skills are second to none. 🤩

Beautiful skies beautiful shots. I like the time lapse.
Thanks again for tuning in Geoff.
Another lovely adventure in Tassie. You are finding hidden gems for sure. Great images and I agree you can’t have too many rocks 😉
Thanks again for watching Laurel. Yes we all love rocks don't we.
Fantastic video Richard, you are right sometimes keeping it simple is the way to go. Looking forward to the next instalment 👍
I always appreciate your comments Dennis, thank you.
Excellent adventure there! Love the time lapse secuence and those photos of course. Thank you for this amazing Tasmania adventure.

You always pull something special out of the bag 😎
Well it was a beautiful clear night which does help. Thanks for watching.
Spectacular images my friend! You didn’t let me down when you had that cupper, I knew a biscuit would come out! 😉 Such a beautiful adventure. Have a wonderful week my friend!☕️📷🍪
Haha, yes I am pretty predictable . .!!!
Very inspiring Richard, the car makes a great home, I reckon you do really well spending a couple of week in that.
Yes I knew all about it after that Rob.
What an amazing trip Richard, coupled with being able to capture so many amazing photos, enjoying your journey and look forward to your next video.
Thanks as always Alan. Only one more from Tassie to come now.
Thanks again Richard, great video. It's amazing how there is always a new way to get a timelapse wrong. Thanks for looking Levin. It looks like your NZ trip is going really well from what I've seen.
Again and again beautiful videos. Thank you Richard. Christine from France
I very much appreciate you watching my friend.

Amazing as always. Love your compositions. Looks like it was and amazing trip.
Thanks for watching. Yes it was an amazing trip.
A new part of the Story. A very great Video. Awesome Time Laps. Clear Skies from Germany. Thomas 😊
Thanks again for watching Thomas
Hi Richard, another great video, clear skies 🖖
Thanks as always for watching Gavin.
Glad you took some single shots for those of us with no trackers! Great shots, time lapse was awesome. 📸😎
Yes it was a pleasant change for me at this location Jason. Thanks for watching.

The 50mm was so much fun. Got some great detail with my Z6iia.
I love shooting at 50mm when I can Ben.
Immagini bellissime, ti seguo con tanto interesse sei bravissimo.😍😍😍
Thank you so much for your kind comments.
Another great video Richard .. love the Timelapse
Thanks heaps Virat, really appreciate that.
Loved that. I’m always having hassles with batteries too!

Great video as always! I've noticed that you have mastered one of the most important skills of night photography, having a correct cookie to tea dip ratio. A true master indeed! 😉
Haha, well it is something I've been working on for quite a while now ..!!! Thanks for watching.
Richard, your videos always inspire me to get the camera gear and try to emulate your work! Thanks!
Thanks so much for your great support Pat, really appreciated.
Loved this video Richard some beautiful photos. Looks like a beautiful spot, I’ll have to check it out next year when I’m in Tassie🙂
Thanks Julie. It's just another of the many beautiful spots in Tassie. You can't take a wrong turn down there.
That was a nice view of Scorpio at about 9:43min.
Thanks Matt. Yes it shines really bright in the sky down here.

Wonderful shots Richard!
Thanks so much for your kind words Steve.

Great video as always.
Love the day to night Timelapse. Unfortunately every one I have tried to date has been a failure but I’ll get it right one day. 😊
I very much appreciate you watching Leslie. There is always a lot of trial and error with these things.
Thanks 🙏
Thanks for watching.
Good mate! No auroras this time! Always love your vids, make me feel free
I was on the lookout for auroras . but nothing forthcoming.
Fantastic mate !
Really appreciate you looking Tim
Great images as usual Richard, I particularly liked the beam that lit up the sky, lighthouse or car? Anyway it was my favourite
Thanks a lot Peter. It was a 4WD with driving lights.

Thanks so much for watching Brian. Yes that timelapse was shot in P mode on the Z6ii
@@nightscapeimages.richard Thank you sir. I really appreciate it.
I've had that happen to me a few times a Battery that you thought was fully charged goes flat during the night without a reason why?
Yes, I think my problem is that I have too many of them . .and this one must have slipped through.
😮
Loving this Tassie adventure Richard 👍🏻
What sort of drone do you use for the aerial shots?
Cheers Si
Thanks for watching Si. I'm currently using the DJI Air2S
@@nightscapeimages.richard Love those shots pulling away and showing the beautiful scenery
@@Si-fp2ij Really appreciate that.
Amazing as usual. On your day to night time lapse which mode was the camera in and auto iso ? Sorry if I've missed the answer in the comments.
