I'm am have a tough battle trying to lower TA I tried lowering it with pH down and pH went under ideal range and alkalinity is still high. TA 250ppm pH 6.2. I added 2lbs of sodium bisulfate and aerateding to higher pH..5k gallon pool

​​​@@alexrose1485u need to first balance the alkalinity
You can use muriatic acid and sodium bisulfate (also known as dry acid)
I use dry acid.
When your alkalinity is in range (retest in 24hours)
Then you can raise your ph with borax
Borax doesnt affect the alkalinity very much at all .
You can also raise ph
with airation .
So if you have a filter that has one of those outputs that you can turn upwards .. turn it upward. So the water splashes and it breaks the surface of the water up .
Leave it like that for a day or two to raise the ph naturally.
If the ph is just a little low dont use chemicals just use the airation technique
