SCS instructor Joanna Tivig shares what inspires her to teach.

I had one particular learner, he was a refugee from Syria, and he used to walk two hours to come to class. These types of things, they change your life because you realize that there are people who walk two hours to come to the class and they walk back two hours, and there is a wife and kids and family out there waiting for them and they do this because they want to integrate, they want to be better, they want to find a job. That changes your life. You have to put that in perspective and you have to think about ‘how can I help?’” -
