Have this tool. Had it forever. Used it daily in a flat rate environment. Was not nice to it. Never let me down. Great tool! Milwaukee has excellent quality!
As an electrician, I just used my recently purchased Fuel screwdriver to trim out a building. Wow, I was impressed on the efficiency I was getting. Never thought I'd be the talk of the job box meeting holding a 12v!!!!
Chris Moreno I know what you mean. I've had them laugh at my puny 12 volt tools but end up fighting over them after they see them perform. Theres plenty of applications where 12 volt is all you need and 18 volt is overkill
This was the first m12 tool that I got. It started a small army of m12 tools. It really has turned into a go to driver for me. Recently I got an m12 Fuel Impact and I am blown away with the performance.
Brien Nice! Same here, first M12 tool. That fuel impact is a tiny beast, 18v power in a 12 volt. Hey Brian you should check out HD's in store and online M12 deals with free baretools and tape measure online
I love mine. Use it for assembling store bought items ( BBQ, metal garage cabinets, etc) and also for assembling furniture I build with pocket hole screw's- perfect for that as it's small for those tight places and not to powerful to destroy the holes especially with the clutch on.
Just got one of these and it is the same model number and it now has their 2.0 batteries, belt clip, and there is a delay on the led now. Awesome little screwdriver.
+Thomas Ewers I also have the new model you're talking about. I like the added belt clip and delay on the light as well. Mine came with 1.5 ah batteries but I got it earlier this year.
I still have mine that I purchased 3 years ago. AWESOME little driver! I'm still using the original batteries too! Nice to see it still comes with the cool zip up case which i also still have yet almost threw out several times over the years lol. This is my go to driver for my hobby related repairs or when working under the dash of a car. A tad heavy by today's standards but unlike like some here, I'm not selling mine ever. When it finally breaks I'll buy a newer version. If the quality and longevity this tool has displayed is any indication of Milwaukee's quality in general, then I'll still be the proud owner of some dated "Fuel" tools 3+ years from now lol.
SlipperySpandex everyone I've known in person that's seen this loves it and they're amazed at its power for its size. The first one I had was used and had the original batteries, I'm talking about the oldschool ones before red lithium and was awesome. I sold it to move up to the m12 hammer drill but I had to get it again
I just sold mine to upgrade to get the M12 Fuel screwdriver. It was sad to see her go as it was the first Milwaukee tool I ever bough, but it was time to change things up. Great review Javier aka Mr. ToolCrazy!!
DarkRaptor99 thanks DR99, Nice! I considered the fuel screwdriver because it's as powerful as the m12 fuel drills and I like the 1/4" hex chuck for easy bit change. How do you like it?
ToolCrazy I like it so far I haven't been able to get a ton of use out of it yet. I just got it at the end of last week. My only complaint about the old version is the length the new fuel and brushed version at a little bit shorter. The other big thing like you mentioned before its nice having a belt clip.
Bought it from Northern Tool just before Christmas with thinking it was the upper model 2 speed they ordered. i am returning to get the updated model as i need more torque. If i was just going to be driving screws all day- i love the feel and size of it. just need something more then for screws. Good driver and would recommend and agree with review if ya just need a screwdriver
I have plenty of drills including the gen 2 M12 fuel hammer drill but when I'm only dealing with installing machine screws like lets say putting together furniture, I always reach for this little guy. Their 2 speed screwdriver models are basically their m12 brushed or fuel drills without a traditional drill chuck.
regopit44 exactly, this was my first m12 tool and I sold it to trade up to the m12 hammer drill and thought I was getting an upgrade and it was but it just couldn't replace this screwdriver so I had to get it again
Nice little driver and I like the concept of the chuck but I just instead love my little dewalt 12v impact even for tiny screws because the variable trigger is a lot like myself- very sensitive yet can torque a lot of power when needed.
I've had mine since 09. 10 years and I love it. My favourite tool. But.... yesterday, I was doing an electrical rough in, dropped it 15feet down to concrete. The gear case broke off. Snapped it right in half. Sad sad day indeed. Idk whether to get a new gear case or new model. But I'm getting one of them. I have to have it!
Nice job Javier. I miss that screwdriver. Like you I sold mine about three years ago to upgrade to their hammer drill. I loved that little driver though.
Mike Z thanks Mike! That's awesome, I don't mean to put any pressure but they have some great deals at hd right now. In store select M12 kits get you a free baretool and even better deals online, you get a free baretool and free 16ft Milwaukee tape measure.
Sounds great but I'm just to broke :( especially with school clothes for my kiddos but I will get them soon or I might just hold out and hope they have some great holiday sales this year. Thanks Javier!
Hi - I have a comment and a question. First off I enjoyed your video and that you did a good job with the presentation. My question is this. What extension bit holder that locks in place do you suggest? The reason why I ask this question is that this feature is important for my line of work. You see I’m a computer tech., where I build, upgrade, and repair computers and often I need the extension bit holder to screw into the slot. Many thanks for your help
I'm an electrician and I recently did a nursing home where there were hundreds of plugs and switches to put on the wall. Oh how I wish I bought this instead of using my impact. I ended up stripping the screw or breaking off the head off every so often. PS: I wasn't torquing them on, they were plastic nutek boxes and if you've worked with lots of them before, you'll know what I'm talking about.
Griffinfit92 not sure what the limit is but I haven't tried a machine screw it couldn't handle. I've used it on many TV wall mount installs and never felt it lacked power. Always set the machine screw's that go in the TV to a low setting on the clutch but usually gave full power on the nuts and screw's that went into the wall mount. This will twist your wrist if you're not careful. Hope that helps
ideal for electricians? - yes. Can it replace a drill or impact? only for light duty fastening. If you need high torque or drilling you'll still need your impact and drill
Does this have the power to pre-drill holes for a TV mount for a decent size tv? And what is the largest drill bit size you think this is capable of drilling in?
This isn't meant for drilling as it's not a "drill". It's a powered screwdriver for installing screws and works best with machine screws. Although it does have plenty of torque and surprised me at drilling, I'd recommend you get a normal drill if you want to drill. I included demo clips using this at drilling to give you an idea of it's drilling performance. But to answer your first question, yes it should be able to handle predrilling normal holes for setting lag screws as you don't need a large hole for predrilling lags for tv wall mounts, however I'd recommend a regular drill instead.
Alright bud. Do you know if the fuel ( latest model ) can handle a 4"" screw? Plus what size machine screw do you think your model can sufficiently tighten up? Weighing up getting the m18 impact.
Griffinfit92 this can handle a 4" screw with 175 in-lbs so yes a more powerful model should be able to, after trying many drills I've come to realize that driving regular screw's don't require much torque
Gracias Tincho
They no longer make this model with the metal casing selector on your tensioning adjustment. They've done away with the rebuildable metal rotating dial and have replaced it with a plastic head rotary dial that does not have access with screws You can't take it apart clean it oil it etc also there's less run out with this older model with the metal selector switch conehead area You know what I'm talking about? They've gone cheap In fact the part numbers are identical but the product itself has changed just FYI If you can get your hands on one of these metal ones by it
Yes, I can confirm they changed this model years ago as I have the new model even if it does have the same model number. One thing I prefer on the newer model is that it has a belt clip. So simple but so handy. They also silently updated their M18 2 gallon way dry vacuum as well also a few years back. I did a comparison video on that if interested.
Thx James, good to know. Just found an old one in the neighborhood alley. Popped a new battery in and it fired right up. Now I don't have wonder about getting the new model everytime I use it.
I thought the 18v drillmaster at 900 rpm was a good balance of speed and power for a single speed, fast enough to run spade bits and slow enough to pump out some decent torque
I love mine. Use it for assembling store bought items ( BBQ, metal garage cabinets, etc) and also for assembling furniture I build with pocket hole screw's- perfect for that as it's small for those tight places and not to powerful to destroy the holes especially with the clutch on.

Thanks Javier for your very clear explanation about this M12 tool!!!
I love mine. Use it for assembling store bought items ( BBQ, metal garage cabinets, etc) and also for assembling furniture I build with pocket hole screw's- perfect for that as it's small for those tight places and not to powerful to destroy the holes especially with the clutch on.
buzzj89 it's prefect for those jobs and is just what you need when a larger still would be overkill
Just got one of these and it is the same model number and it now has their 2.0 batteries, belt clip, and there is a delay on the led now. Awesome little screwdriver.

Dylan Link It's to ground the device such as a switch or plug via the metal strip going from the ground screw to the 6-32 holding the device in place.

I just picked up a slightly used one today for $20 bucks.... I think I scored on this Milwaukee M12 Screwdriver.
Not bad, I paid $50 for the one in this video back in 2012 with 2 batteries and charger.
would this be ideal for an electrician vs a drill or impact?
