The way gege uses Buddhism and the mythology surrounding is probably the best I’ve seen in any manga or anime in jjk. The fact he was using Buddhist imagery like flowers, statues, temples, and hand signs to foreshadow upcoming events makes the story that much more interesting. Yuji will def be the one to teach Sukuna about love in the hardest and most painful way possible where he will want to live and stay in yuji’s body.

I still headcanon that Yuji's Domain can slash the soul and not the body, meaning he could kill Sukuna right there and then. The problem is that from what he has said, this is the first time he has used it and he is probably afraid of hurting Megumi's soul as well, so he tried to Talk no Jutsu Sukuna and when that failed, he tried to form a deal with him.

Domain expansions being stronger when they are non lethal was set up during the culling games when either Sukuna or Kenjaku were explaining why heien era sorcerers were stronger back then and why Sukuna having his shrine is out of the ordinary. Yuji being one of the more capable fighters but manifesting the only non lethal (so far) domain that we’ve seen from any modern sorcerer other than I guess Gojos is really good character writing
It’s quite interesting of some domains have no interaction with the opponent at all. Hakari’s domain for example is just him and the machines. The opponent has nothing to do in that domain.

I presume that without the domain info dumping his opponent with how it functions as the sure hit effect of it, his DE is weaker somehow but as far as we know there's no reason why he couldn't just run it ny himself;
Honestly with everything leading up to here this is my favorite chapter of the whole manga. It even (to me at least) makes the oh so long Sukuna cycle have meaning. After all that yuji still decides to reach out before the final battle. That's some good pay off right there
Fun fact: at the beginning of the first anime opening, Yuji's body flares up with Sukuna's tattoos and he wakes up, then looks to his right and up (awakening / enlightenment, north). Then at the end of the opening, the tattoos recede, and Yuji turns left and down, falling asleep (rejecting enlightenment? / south, symbolizing them both going in opposite directions).
Here's a theory. The train station and all this stuff around it are not Yujis DE at all. Its actually Sukunas version of the airport scene. And we are gunna get a jump cut to his dead body next

I think I just realized what this domain expansion is all about, and it is DESIGNED to end Sukuna specifically. Think about it like this....this domain expansion, is NOT based off this specific area of Japan, as they're freely able to move and change location even across long distances, so it's not the area, that seems to just be a function of Yuji's memories...it's based off YUJI HIMSELF. Sukuna, though not literally, has taken the form of Yuji's body...which would fulfill BOTH of the conditions for Yuji's techniques, it could apply both cleave, as Yuji's body has over-ridden Sukuna and Megumi's body, negating the need to make contact, AND blood manipulation, as it would negate the need for Yuji to use his own blood if this domain replaces the target's blood with his own blood- Meaning no matter WHAT technique he's applied to this domain, he can effectively detonate or self-destruct Sukuna in an instant, because he is LITERALLY in Yuji's body even when he's not in Yuji himself. YUJI'S BODY IS HIS DOMAIN EXPANSION. As he can recall all of these memories and such as set dressing for his domain, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Yuji had complete control over the setting of his domain, and the only consistent part is his body being projected onto the target- This IS the anti-Sukuna domain expansion. Because he's not just trapped in some abstract dimension...he's in Yuji's body again, whether he accepts the offer or not-

Something I havent really seen a lot of talk about is eyes, specifically Yuji's and Sukuna's. From the first chapter, Yuji's eyes have had a single iris around his pupil. Sukuna has always had 3. During the events of the shinjkuku showdown arc, we've seen yuji take on a similar characteristic to sukuna. Yuji has gotten 2 rings around his pupil, 2 different irises. In the chapter where he actually pops his DE, ch. 264, during all the fighting the multiple irises are present. But once he does the handsign and uses his DE, that panel shows that he is back to normal Yuji. His eyes are normal all throughout ch. 265 until he gets serious and tells sukuna to let megumi go and come back to his body. I've argued with friends about how the iris changes possibly symbolize his mindset changing or his "Humanity level" going down as he has to throw away parts of himself to continue to fight sukuna.
Red Spider lilies in Japanese is mentioned to be the flower that grows above someone's grave. The red color represent the color of blood inside a person. Wherever someone dies, red spider lilies will grow there, which is why it signifies deaths.

This chapter reminded me of why I love Yuji so much as a character. He's just a teenager who got thrust into something way over his head and in this chapter we see that kid again. This has been my favorite chapter since Yuta killed Kenjaku. I loved it before I watched this video, but this video only helped me understand it more. Nick, I can't believe how much you called it.
It would be interesting if Yūji's domain has an effect that increases the power of his sure-hit the more kindness and compassion he shows the target while inside it vs. the amount of compassion the target shows back and that's what he' learned through the last 4 Black Flashes, or it works as the more he shares about himself the more he learns about the opponent.
Is anyone else happy with this chapter? I love breaking up the fight for some actual dialogue. I think this is the first dialogue that wasn't explaining a power or plan in over a year! Plus I love seeing Yuji show compassion to even Sukuna, such a great character!!
loved the change of pace. i think we're going through what Todo and Chozo went through with Yuji. the two create some kind of high school, halcyon days, mind-trip where they share memories and try to understand each other with the goal for the conflict between the two to stop. this domain is similar to Takaba's in that it's not punch fighty, but warping reality. sukuna refusing to show anything of himself is the condition that will let yuji win.

We also have to acknowledge just how fast Yuji opened his domain Sukuna had JUST regained his RCT, meaning he'd now have regained access to his anti domain techniques, right? Sure his CT was probably still burned out, but not CE, so he should be able to do it just like how Gojo did during the first few domain clashes. And yet, despite this, he still got caught within Yuji's domain.
Despite Gege's writing flaws, this chapter stirred emotions that I was grateful for. I can't wait until he's older and to see what new projects he starts.
Thanks for your previous video. Watched it before reading the chapter and I got most of the symbolic message built into it. It was indeed a beautiful one, and I really appreciated the fact that the non-stop fighting that's been going on for over a year got interrupted like this.
Theory for fun: Yuji domain is more deep (it's a one-shot domain like his sensei Gojo but more lethal), the other face from the coin is link somehow to greek Mythology, where Yuji inside his domain will be the eyes that see, mouth that judge and the hand that cut the thread 🧵 of Sukuna life (the slash that cut your life itself)... The reason he said this to Sukuna it's because he can literally kill his soul immediately but to avoid some damage from megumi side, he propose to Sukuna the exchange...Gege really did a great job, not everyday you see how mindset can evolve a same technique (the shrine) to the point where it more or less, perhaps be godly power. (Yuji slash won't try to kill you physically only, the slashes ✂️ will just kill your body and your soul easily and perhaps stop your reincarnation cycle in the grand line)...(This theory come from the page where they show the ✂️ and the threads 🧵, just before the end of pitying part from Yuji).
It all makes sense looking back at it. Twins share cursed energy. Sukana's domain expansion is "malevolent" shrine. Yugi is the reincarnation of sukana's twin (kinda) and his domain takes you to a "shrine of compassion" if you will.
This conversation alone put every character’s role into context. Even the abrupt deaths to characters we thought would have a bigger impact are significant in the grand scheme of - significance isn’t always measured by large moments as Yuji explains - significance is about perspective and subjective value

Alternate theory: The train station is not the domain expansion, it's the same as Gojo's conversation when he got off-screened. Northbound routes to enter the next cycle, Southbound routes to become a cursed spirit. Yuji is Sakuna's spirit/soul convincing Sakuna (the body) to enter the cycle again. Cursed paintings/cursed objects are made from humans, as we saw when Mai gets turned into a sword, and draws out the rest of Maki's cursed energy. Maki then becomes like Toji, a Human with no cursed energy. Both Maki and Toji wield a "Split Soul Katana" that cuts directly at the soul. If we think about the relationship between Maki and Mai being twins we can picture them as a Yin and Yang. Maki would be mostly positive energy with a small dot of cursed energy, while Mai would be mostly cursed energy with a small dot of positive energy. So a substance in the physical realm without positive energy (the soul) is an object, and pure positive energy would be akin to the embodiment of the pure soul (with no cursed energy). Maki, Toji, and Yuji (before he ate Sakuna's finger) were all people with no cursed energy and blessed with superhuman strength because they were the embodiment of the pure soul. Heian Era Sakuna cleaved out his soul (which is Yuji) with his cursed technique, which caused him to become a cursed object (his fingers). I think he considered the soul weak and unnecessary because curse techniques are written on the body. This is why Sakuna compliments strong sorcerers except Yuji because Sakuna believes that the Body (himself) is the source of his strength while the Soul (Yuji ) is just a weakness that restricts the use of cursed energy. Yuji could not move on to the next cycle without Sakuna, so he was reborn in the present era to bring his negative with him into the next cycle. Yuji had no inherent cursed technique because cursed techniques are written on the body. When Yuji ate part of Sakuna, he recombined some of his negative and positive energy again, so he was able to use cursed energy and techniques because he had regained part of his original body. When Yuji is fed more cursed paintings, he gains those techniques because he is gaining more parts of different bodies with different techniques. I would say that maybe the difference between a cursed object and a cursed spirit is that a cursed spirit has the consciousness of fears of humans (the embodiment of fears) with a lot of cursed energy which is why sorcerers have the chance of becoming a cursed spirit when they die because they have a large amount of cursed energy that the consciousness of their fears takes over when they die alone and afraid. To go south would be to go the opposite direction of the world which its translating while also rotating. Imagine the cycle of death and rebirth as a screw rather than a clock. To go north is to advance the screw as it rotates, to go south is to try to go against the advancement of the screw as it turns. (A quick aside, Mahoraga is the embodiment of the center of the screw about which everything rotates, Sakuna destroyed that core). So I think Yuji will sew Sakuna back into himself (i.e. incorporate his cursed energy back into his being) and return to the cycle of death and rebirth. He is trying to convince Sakuna to move onto the next cycle with him in the train station because Sakuna was off-screened already. I think Yuji pictures the souls as a piece of cloth. His domain expansion will be him cutting along the sewing pattern with cleave to separate Megumi's soul+body from Sakuna, then Yuji will sew up the damage along Megumi's soul and body using Piercing Blood. The way Yuji pictures his blood and brings wis body back together when injured, and then uses RCT to heal those parts sort of looks like someone sewing him together. So bringing that image of how the body is attached to the soul will be sewing related imo, but whether that looks like surgery or mending a shirt for Megumi, I don't know. After that, Yuji will take Sakuna and sew him back into himself, showing the incorporation of darkness into his being. Toji using his Split Soul Katana is a parallel representation of positive energy (the soul) wielding the negative energy (the body) to become a dangerous being. He literally stores the cursed object in a cursed spirit ball/dot within himself, representing the light side of a Yin/Yang containing the dot of darkness within. Black flash is positive and negative energy working in perfect harmony. Soul->positive energy->light->Flash Body->Negative energy->Darkness->Black Yuji is good at black flash because he is pure positive/soul energy, so once he figured out how to manipulate cursed energy, it was easy for him to balance. I bbelieve most sorcerers think only in cursed energy, so they only hit black flash by accident when they perfectly balance their spirit without intending to. When they feel the resonation, they get a power boost because they can feel the edges of their soul working w/ cursed energy. I like to think that when Gojo 'died' against Toji, it was he was able to see the separation between his soul and body, how they were two halves of the same whole, and resonate them together, which is RCT (or positive energy manipulation). Maybe the body is just the physical outgrowth of the soul, so once you understand your soul and the shape of it, you are able to re-grow your body, but most people can't see either the soul or cursed energy (curses), and few sorcerers see the soul to understand this. Mahito was a Curse that could see and manipulate Positive energy (souls), the Mirror Image of Yuji who was virtually a pure soul able to see the edges of souls as well. P.S: Maybe 6 eyes gets it's name from the idea of having a third eye that can see the world, however you'd have a mirror of that on your soul (an additional 3 eyes) that can see the flow of cursed energy. 3 Physical world eyes, 3 cursed energy eyes Also, Gojo is the embodiment of the question what makes a person strong or weak. There have been other six eyes+limitless users, but were they as strong as Gojo? Is the strength of a person dependent on the weapon (body) they wield, or is the way the soul wields the body what makes it strong? The whole series is a fight to determine where the true strength of a human lies, and that strength is a balance between light and dark is what I think the final point is.

This chapter made Yuuji into one of the greats. Up there with Miyamoto Musashi in terms of displaying strength as kindness. He despises Sukuna and yet he found composure and offered to SHARE HIS OWN BODY before he sent him packing. And it's not about Megumi in this. He is willing to understand Sukuna by letting Sukuna see him as a real person, and he wouldn't be doing all this if he didn't have the confidence that he can take him out. I think this is gonna play out the same way it started, Yuuji's already offered a pact, and I think it's gonna play into the way the domain works. That's probably why he's in that form, to level the playing field and equate to that first fight. Yuuji is probably not gonna let Sukuna land a single punch, and when Yuuji will hit Sukuna it'll be a one-hit dismantle right between Sukuna and Megumi. Though I think Megumi will start the merger and Yuuji will have to dismantle Tengen down piece by piece, soul by soul.

The entire battle against Sukuna is full of moments like this, where the good guys come up with a sure plan against Sukuna that looks like a real threat, and he just bullshits his way out, i.e., The sukuna cycle. We've been doing it for so long that I find it hard to be excited for anything anymore. Also my favourite character wasn't killed by sukuna.

I don’t think the Gojo page placement is that important because it’s Gojo. And finally I hope the final battle is just these two throwing hands like crazy all over the town.
Witb everything given, with the swordsman statue, the flowers, the archer competition and shrine. Yuji's domain most likely going to look like a calmer Sukuna just less visceral. Maybe a field of flowers and foliage instead of a dark lake with a shrine in the middle but slashes work the same.
The town that this chapter takes place in most simply represents the place that North and South meet at Compassion. That's also why it starts in the train station. This chapter is rife with symbolism, and that makes it JJK's best chapter so far. And this is Gege continuing to inspire me to write manga.

Fun fact: at the beginning of the first anime opening, Yuji's body flares up with Sukuna's tattoos and he wakes up, then looks to his right and up (awakening / enlightenment, north). Then at the end of the opening, the tattoos recede, and Yuji turns left and down, falling asleep (rejecting enlightenment? / south, symbolizing them both going in opposite directions).

I think I just realized what this domain expansion is all about, and it is DESIGNED to end Sukuna specifically.
Think about it like this....this domain expansion, is NOT based off this specific area of Japan, as they're freely able to move and change location even across long distances, so it's not the area, that seems to just be a function of Yuji's memories...it's based off YUJI HIMSELF. Sukuna, though not literally, has taken the form of Yuji's body...which would fulfill BOTH of the conditions for Yuji's techniques, it could apply both cleave, as Yuji's body has over-ridden Sukuna and Megumi's body, negating the need to make contact, AND blood manipulation, as it would negate the need for Yuji to use his own blood if this domain replaces the target's blood with his own blood-
Meaning no matter WHAT technique he's applied to this domain, he can effectively detonate or self-destruct Sukuna in an instant, because he is LITERALLY in Yuji's body even when he's not in Yuji himself.
YUJI'S BODY IS HIS DOMAIN EXPANSION. As he can recall all of these memories and such as set dressing for his domain, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Yuji had complete control over the setting of his domain, and the only consistent part is his body being projected onto the target-

Something I havent really seen a lot of talk about is eyes, specifically Yuji's and Sukuna's. From the first chapter, Yuji's eyes have had a single iris around his pupil. Sukuna has always had 3. During the events of the shinjkuku showdown arc, we've seen yuji take on a similar characteristic to sukuna. Yuji has gotten 2 rings around his pupil, 2 different irises. In the chapter where he actually pops his DE, ch. 264, during all the fighting the multiple irises are present. But once he does the handsign and uses his DE, that panel shows that he is back to normal Yuji. His eyes are normal all throughout ch. 265 until he gets serious and tells sukuna to let megumi go and come back to his body. I've argued with friends about how the iris changes possibly symbolize his mindset changing or his "Humanity level" going down as he has to throw away parts of himself to continue to fight sukuna.
I think what surprised me most is that a 2km walk is "massive" for nick 😂

Red Spider lilies in Japanese is mentioned to be the flower that grows above someone's grave. The red color represent the color of blood inside a person. Wherever someone dies, red spider lilies will grow there, which is why it signifies deaths.

This chapter reminded me of why I love Yuji so much as a character. He's just a teenager who got thrust into something way over his head and in this chapter we see that kid again. This has been my favorite chapter since Yuta killed Kenjaku. I loved it before I watched this video, but this video only helped me understand it more. Nick, I can't believe how much you called it.

It would be interesting if Yūji's domain has an effect that increases the power of his sure-hit the more kindness and compassion he shows the target while inside it vs. the amount of compassion the target shows back and that's what he' learned through the last 4 Black Flashes, or it works as the more he shares about himself the more he learns about the opponent.

loved the change of pace. i think we're going through what Todo and Chozo went through with Yuji. the two create some kind of high school, halcyon days, mind-trip where they share memories and try to understand each other with the goal for the conflict between the two to stop. this domain is similar to Takaba's in that it's not punch fighty, but warping reality. sukuna refusing to show anything of himself is the condition that will let yuji win.

Sukuna had JUST regained his RCT, meaning he'd now have regained access to his anti domain techniques, right? Sure his CT was probably still burned out, but not CE, so he should be able to do it just like how Gojo did during the first few domain clashes.
And yet, despite this, he still got caught within Yuji's domain.
Despite Gege's writing flaws, this chapter stirred emotions that I was grateful for. I can't wait until he's older and to see what new projects he starts.

The reason he said this to Sukuna it's because he can literally kill his soul immediately but to avoid some damage from megumi side, he propose to Sukuna the exchange...Gege really did a great job, not everyday you see how mindset can evolve a same technique (the shrine) to the point where it more or less, perhaps be godly power. (Yuji slash won't try to kill you physically only, the slashes ✂️ will just kill your body and your soul easily and perhaps stop your reincarnation cycle in the grand line)...(This theory come from the page where they show the ✂️ and the threads 🧵, just before the end of pitying part from Yuji).

It all makes sense looking back at it. Twins share cursed energy. Sukana's domain expansion is "malevolent" shrine. Yugi is the reincarnation of sukana's twin (kinda) and his domain takes you to a "shrine of compassion" if you will.

Alternate theory:
The train station is not the domain expansion, it's the same as Gojo's conversation when he got off-screened. Northbound routes to enter the next cycle, Southbound routes to become a cursed spirit. Yuji is Sakuna's spirit/soul convincing Sakuna (the body) to enter the cycle again.
Cursed paintings/cursed objects are made from humans, as we saw when Mai gets turned into a sword, and draws out the rest of Maki's cursed energy. Maki then becomes like Toji, a Human with no cursed energy. Both Maki and Toji wield a "Split Soul Katana" that cuts directly at the soul. If we think about the relationship between Maki and Mai being twins we can picture them as a Yin and Yang. Maki would be mostly positive energy with a small dot of cursed energy, while Mai would be mostly cursed energy with a small dot of positive energy. So a substance in the physical realm without positive energy (the soul) is an object, and pure positive energy would be akin to the embodiment of the pure soul (with no cursed energy). Maki, Toji, and Yuji (before he ate Sakuna's finger) were all people with no cursed energy and blessed with superhuman strength because they were the embodiment of the pure soul.
Heian Era Sakuna cleaved out his soul (which is Yuji) with his cursed technique, which caused him to become a cursed object (his fingers). I think he considered the soul weak and unnecessary because curse techniques are written on the body. This is why Sakuna compliments strong sorcerers except Yuji because Sakuna believes that the Body (himself) is the source of his strength while the Soul (Yuji ) is just a weakness that restricts the use of cursed energy. Yuji could not move on to the next cycle without Sakuna, so he was reborn in the present era to bring his negative with him into the next cycle. Yuji had no inherent cursed technique because cursed techniques are written on the body. When Yuji ate part of Sakuna, he recombined some of his negative and positive energy again, so he was able to use cursed energy and techniques because he had regained part of his original body. When Yuji is fed more cursed paintings, he gains those techniques because he is gaining more parts of different bodies with different techniques. I would say that maybe the difference between a cursed object and a cursed spirit is that a cursed spirit has the consciousness of fears of humans (the embodiment of fears) with a lot of cursed energy which is why sorcerers have the chance of becoming a cursed spirit when they die because they have a large amount of cursed energy that the consciousness of their fears takes over when they die alone and afraid. To go south would be to go the opposite direction of the world which its translating while also rotating. Imagine the cycle of death and rebirth as a screw rather than a clock. To go north is to advance the screw as it rotates, to go south is to try to go against the advancement of the screw as it turns. (A quick aside, Mahoraga is the embodiment of the center of the screw about which everything rotates, Sakuna destroyed that core).
So I think Yuji will sew Sakuna back into himself (i.e. incorporate his cursed energy back into his being) and return to the cycle of death and rebirth. He is trying to convince Sakuna to move onto the next cycle with him in the train station because Sakuna was off-screened already. I think Yuji pictures the souls as a piece of cloth. His domain expansion will be him cutting along the sewing pattern with cleave to separate Megumi's soul+body from Sakuna, then Yuji will sew up the damage along Megumi's soul and body using Piercing Blood. The way Yuji pictures his blood and brings wis body back together when injured, and then uses RCT to heal those parts sort of looks like someone sewing him together. So bringing that image of how the body is attached to the soul will be sewing related imo, but whether that looks like surgery or mending a shirt for Megumi, I don't know.
After that, Yuji will take Sakuna and sew him back into himself, showing the incorporation of darkness into his being.
Toji using his Split Soul Katana is a parallel representation of positive energy (the soul) wielding the negative energy (the body) to become a dangerous being. He literally stores the cursed object in a cursed spirit ball/dot within himself, representing the light side of a Yin/Yang containing the dot of darkness within.
Black flash is positive and negative energy working in perfect harmony.
Soul->positive energy->light->Flash
Body->Negative energy->Darkness->Black
Yuji is good at black flash because he is pure positive/soul energy, so once he figured out how to manipulate cursed energy, it was easy for him to balance. I bbelieve most sorcerers think only in cursed energy, so they only hit black flash by accident when they perfectly balance their spirit without intending to. When they feel the resonation, they get a power boost because they can feel the edges of their soul working w/ cursed energy. I like to think that when Gojo 'died' against Toji, it was he was able to see the separation between his soul and body, how they were two halves of the same whole, and resonate them together, which is RCT (or positive energy manipulation). Maybe the body is just the physical outgrowth of the soul, so once you understand your soul and the shape of it, you are able to re-grow your body, but most people can't see either the soul or cursed energy (curses), and few sorcerers see the soul to understand this. Mahito was a Curse that could see and manipulate Positive energy (souls), the Mirror Image of Yuji who was virtually a pure soul able to see the edges of souls as well.
P.S: Maybe 6 eyes gets it's name from the idea of having a third eye that can see the world, however you'd have a mirror of that on your soul (an additional 3 eyes) that can see the flow of cursed energy. 3 Physical world eyes, 3 cursed energy eyes
Also, Gojo is the embodiment of the question what makes a person strong or weak. There have been other six eyes+limitless users, but were they as strong as Gojo? Is the strength of a person dependent on the weapon (body) they wield, or is the way the soul wields the body what makes it strong? The whole series is a fight to determine where the true strength of a human lies, and that strength is a balance between light and dark is what I think the final point is.

This chapter made Yuuji into one of the greats. Up there with Miyamoto Musashi in terms of displaying strength as kindness. He despises Sukuna and yet he found composure and offered to SHARE HIS OWN BODY before he sent him packing. And it's not about Megumi in this. He is willing to understand Sukuna by letting Sukuna see him as a real person, and he wouldn't be doing all this if he didn't have the confidence that he can take him out. I think this is gonna play out the same way it started, Yuuji's already offered a pact, and I think it's gonna play into the way the domain works. That's probably why he's in that form, to level the playing field and equate to that first fight. Yuuji is probably not gonna let Sukuna land a single punch, and when Yuuji will hit Sukuna it'll be a one-hit dismantle right between Sukuna and Megumi. Though I think Megumi will start the merger and Yuuji will have to dismantle Tengen down piece by piece, soul by soul.

Witb everything given, with the swordsman statue, the flowers, the archer competition and shrine. Yuji's domain most likely going to look like a calmer Sukuna just less visceral. Maybe a field of flowers and foliage instead of a dark lake with a shrine in the middle but slashes work the same.

The town that this chapter takes place in most simply represents the place that North and South meet at Compassion. That's also why it starts in the train station. This chapter is rife with symbolism, and that makes it JJK's best chapter so far. And this is Gege continuing to inspire me to write manga.
