No way. The "3 episode rule" is not good. If you had a meal for the first time and it tasted horrible you wouldn't eat it another 2 times just to see if the flavor changed. You just don't like it and that's OK
@@keithmoorejr1992That's odd. I've hated Virtually all shows on my top anime list from just watching the first episode. It was only because I give shows five episodes to win me over that I fell in love with these shows. Fullmetal Alchemist is a good example. I still don't like the first few episodes but I love the series.
Exactly just start the story as the reincarnation why do they have to have all the stuff before just make it a normal thing instead of reincarnation of a shitty person
I agree it could just be a fantasy anime . alot of isekai have dope worlds to be in but, I hate the main character so I can't get I to the world of the story.
It's so you can relate and put yourself in the same situation. Many people hate their life so they want to be put in another world where they can be cool. For me the problem with isekai is that they are so uncreative. In 90% it's " you have been summoned and have to kill the demonlord to save the world"
@@c4ptaintuttle276 that's why I prefer just regular fantasy anime like delicious in dungeon or frieren you can do unique stories in fun new worlds instead of the same story over and over again in new worlds
Heck yeah, I'd say liking the One Piece anime pacing is a hot take all on it's own. In fact, I would have preferred a world where when Toei is like 30 chapters or less behind the start of the current manga arc, they would cease making One Piece for like a year, and then start again. Just so we have a well paced anime.
I've been saying for years if one piece gets remade from the start with better animation and pacing I'd 100% drop toei and watch the new one, I can't wait for this remake
Just remember kids, this is a business at the end of the day, he will do whatever he needs to make his living and live his life. He cares about you, sure. But he will always make his bag first, like any and every company/business ✌️🐺🤙
33:00 yes. people who actually understand and comprehend the story and lesson of Vinland Saga, know this. You could even go as far to say that, Vinland Saga gives us more content, art, and meaningful lessons WAY more effectivley. (In reference to quantity to quality, ratio, possibly even from quality alone)
21:55 "Now im not saying One Piece is a simple story." Literally 30 seconds earlier "One Piece is kind of a simple story." I mean this in the nicest way possible. i just thought it was funny that he immediately contradicted himself
not really. he said its not simple, but its kinda simple. kinda simple means the main theme is simple (be pirate king and be free), but the things going on arent simple so the story overall isnt really simple
To be honest, it has so much time to explain and flush out everything that it automatically becomes simple and easy to digest. If you were to introduce stuff like military doctrine, slavery, genocide etc along eith the two power systems of devil fruit and haki into 25 episodes, it will become complicated
JJK SPOILERS: Itadori being the son of Kenjaku should have played into the story more, and Kenjaku could have used this knowledge to gain Yuji's trust to tempt him into gaining the dark power needed to kill Sukuna... All in a bid to create a sorcerer even more powerful than Sukuna himself (since Kenny just cares about ultimate destruction).
17:07 I don't joke when I say this, I genuinely felt a blood vessel pulse on my head when he lumped Overlord in with the average isekai. But... it is what it is...
The crazier part is that the tropes that Nick mentioned that isekai needs to get rid off only loosely apply to Overlord so he either only watched the first three episodes and just asumed that it's going down the average isekai route or he only read a few things about Overlord and is assuming it's just another average isekai
@@mangahell8177 EXACTLY IF he fully watch it he would know the simplist facts that make Overlord unique And amazing. An example would be AINZ ore Momongas past world And how it was a post Apocalyptic world where one could find dead people on the roads, the air was toxic and the only thing worth living for, for Ainz it was to play with his friends in Yggdriziell so much that he spent a lot of money on it. This made Ainz develop an almost parental love for their creations
It's because it's story about a middle-aged man reincarnated in a magical medieval world with RPG systems (well obviously) and surrounded by abnormally interested strangely proportioned women. Not that it's bad, but has a similar floor-plan to a lot of others, and watching a lot of Isekai like such gets you burnt out quick unfotunately, unable to recognize the Shield Hero from the SAO in just the first episode(s) or so ☹️
19:02 I MEAN its like a known thing... that if it wasnt for the constant breaks... we wouldnt even have a "big 3" we would have a big 4 with HXH. i mean part of me is glad it isnt like that? but at the same time it deserves the title because of how fucking good HXH is
I mean it might have still been the big 3, I was looking at the amount of volumes sold of naruto, one piece, bleach, and hxh and naruto, one piece, and hxh were offer way higher than bleach in manga sales. I'm saying bleach might have just never been in the big three if hxh keep going.
Coming from someone who loves anime but refuses to start One Piece because of the time investment of watching 1200 episodes, I can agree 10,000% with the last take!
I was the same & then i started it. & then I got obsessed & caught up & wish it was longer😂 One Piece makes me feel things no other series has ever done as effectively. Oda is truly writing a modern odyssey & masterpiece
For as long as I can remember One Piece has been too long for me to start. I’m 31 and I remember being in middle school thinking this looks cool I’ll buy the dvds and binge it when it’s over. HA!
My preference with sub over dub is that I don't understand Japanese and thus can have a certain level of separation, and because I generally find the delivery of lines better. If cringey stuff happens, I'd rather hear it in a language I don't understand. I am also not in the mood to gamble if the English VA work for an anime is good or bad. Even if the JP VA work is bad, again at least its in a language I don't understand so I don't have to scrunch myself into ball hearing bad line delivery.
It isn't remotely a gamble with dub though-- the vast vast majority of dubs are fantastic. It is just as likely to find a bad sub as it is to find a bad dub in modern anime, but neither are common. If part of your reason for preferring sub is so you find it less cringy, you probably just don't like the anime as much as you think you do. If the cringe is part of the story, that reflects on the quality of the story-- not the quality of the voice actors for the dub. In regard to cringiness, you are basically just saying that you'd prefer to read it than to actually hear it and understand it outloud😅.
@@noahvanderwyst1232 Good for you. I know I had mostly had negative examples, but I'd like to remind you that I also said I just prefer JP line deliveries more than EN. Cringe or no cringe.
@@Deode-d4h fair enough, I just hate trying to look back and forth between the subtitle and the show. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy sub, but I'm basically just imagining that they are speaking English while reading it anyway. I avoid watching sub unless it is my only option and It probably won't ever come out with a dub.
Im enjoying Mushuko Tensei. Don't like the Harem thing or the pervy stuff but right now Rudy's emotional journey is interesting, the combat is good, and the supporting characters are intriguing. Don't blame anyone for not liking it though cause trying to get through the beginning is hard
The beginning has been my biggest issue with it. ive been meaning to get back into it, but I just didn't enjoy the beginning very much and unintentionally dropped the series
I dunno I can understand why people would be uncomfortable with the pervy stuff, but at the same time I feel like the people who drop the show over it are missing the point… while yeah, it’s a common stupid anime trope, I feel like this show in particular takes it a lot more seriously than others. It’s supposed to be a genuine character flaw that rudius learns from and matures slightly over time.
I tried watching that, but stopped when I found myself rooting for the people the author of the story wants me to hate. I'm not watching a show that tells me just people are bad.
The thing with the dub vs sub debate is that a lot of our introductions to anime was through the medium of 4kids who made some of the worse censors and localizations and those things made people mix up bad dubs with the censorship and localizations
Originally it was supposed to be that way I heard. Like Neji, Choji, and I think Lee we're supposed to die in that arc. But I believe it was the editors who decided against that.
@@Zlittlepenguin Add Tenten, she wasn't even supposed to die at all but Kishimoto never gave her an actual role other than be beaten up by Temari in the Chunin Exam.
@@Deode-d4h I thought she was going to save the day at the end of shippuden when I was watching it the first time lol but then… nah… she got trapped too.
2 hot takes 1. I rather have the pervert character/teacher trope over tsundere punching main character trope any day. 2. Rock Lee and Vegeta fans are the same. One just have way more screen time then the other.
1: YES I am tired of Woman punchin guys because hahaha funny... It realy isnt😒 And well Jiraya existsAnd his the GOAT😎 2:.....HOLY SH*T I... NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT.... DAMMM Although to be honest, Rock Lee and Vegeta have completely different stories because in reality most of the characters in Dragon Ball train like Rock Lee, but what separates their characters and the fans is the redemption of Vegeta And the fact that Vegeta has ben taken away moments that were for him AHEM his fight against Frieza in his resurrection. 👀 Fans of Vegeta have more to admire than just a guy who trains and inspires because at the end of the day Vegeta has a bigger character than rock LEE.
1. Depends on how bad the pervert is. If it’s just making inappropriate comments and the occasional off collar joke then yes, but if they’re groping women and borderline harassing every female character in the show then no 2. 100000% agree
I'm such a fan of you bro, I'm so so surprised you don't enjoy MT, I understand your non starter statement because the story does have some very weird parts. although I read most of the LN and I've had more enjoyment in the story than any other story I've ever read. just gotta let the story do it's thing. I wouldn't say any of the things that happen are too disgusting to overlook.
@DrJareld I understand that. That's why it's my take. It adds value to the story when not retconned/otherwise conflicting. Example, Kaguya backstory in Shippuden.
@@thomasffrench3639 people don't realise how different written and visual mediums are when it comes to storytelling. Togashi is already very text heavy and I can only imagine how frustrating each chapter would be
Honestly, i thought the theme of hunter hunter was the power of desire. Like they hunt after something, or desire something, and its all the journey of each person having a core motivator and their responses to it. Gon's unhealthy mental state and attachment, killua not having one of his own at first and being impressionable at first to becoming extremely solid in it, hisokas... take on desire... and kurapikas all consuming desire for revenge. Its all about individuality and motivating desires more than just, oh look, exploration. Or i could be wrong, i never read the manga
Tbf the term 'desire' can be pretty damn broad as a theme... Since it could essentially be defined as an ambition towards a goal(which most stories tend to have to begin with, especially shonen stories). For example one could say in AOT Eren had the desire to be free and protect those closest to him(and also initially avenge his mom), you could say Naruto's desire was to become the Hokage and be accepted, Sasuke had the desire to 'avenge' his clan for the most part. Most characters in shonen tend to chase after what they desire to begin with.
Nearly 40 minutes of straight cookin! The more i see of you Nick the more I'm convinced you are truly the master of anylitical breakdown. You have never had a bad take even if you had one that i don't agree with.
Fufilling the American stereotype of being ignorant of other cultures, I didn't even know we shared it 😬 I'm Minnesotan so it might as well be all the way in Canada anyway lol
I just started One Piece on April 12th. I caught up with the anime on May 28th. I will say 100% that if someone chooses to watch all of one piece they will be rewarded with a great world full of fun characters, but also as someone who spent at least a decade or more not watching one piece because it was too long despite the praise of many people I hold dear, that show is way too fucking long to either suggest or insist that someone watch. Worth it if you want to, not if you don't.
Honestly, I think it really is a good recommendations as long as you specifically recommend the manga and the person is a manga reader. Yes it is a lot, but the manga doesn’t drag like the anime really does.
It’s funny how Nick is like “I’ve seen isekai before I don’t need to see ___” and it’s some of the widely consdiered better isekais out there that he doesn’t wanna watch lmao
Camp fire cooking Isekai was so good, you'll feel good while watching, Mukoda the MC is so wholesome and kind, and Fel is so maxed out and buffed that you'll have no anxiety of something bad will happen to them, I can watch it every weekend forever tbh.
Also under the dub vs sub debate: People don't actually hate dubs because of hearing a specific actor use their same voice in yet another role. If that were the case, they'd have to hate most subs as well. There are Japanese VAs that have hundreds of characters under their belt, and people never complain, even when every single character is delivered the same way. But have the actor speak English, and now it's an issue? No. This is just a lazy excuse to justify your dislike of the dub, instead of digging deeper to your real issues with it (assuming those issues aren't just as shallow).
in terms of the luffy thorfinn take, they personally motivate me in different ways? like moment to moment day to day i WANT to be like luffy, effortlessly persevering towards my goals and dreams, but thorfinn is more motivational in situations where im struggling to find that motivation, when i was actively grappling with what i wanted to do with my life thorfinn and vinland saga was probably the most motivating piece of fiction imaginable, but on a day to day basis it doesnt motivate me because thorfinns motivation isnt efforless like luffy's, idk if this makes sense to anyone else but i guess tldr; luffy motivates me day to day but thorfinn motivates me in "hard times"
You know what would be a great ending for One Piece? Having the One Piece be something that Luffy would have to sacrifice his crew for or something. Like their memories, their connections, their relationships etc. As Luffy just with the quickest most nonchalant answer being "if that's what it takes to get the One Piece, then who needs it! It's worthless then compared to them." Kind of like how FMA:B ending was, where Ed willingly gave up his alchemy, despite being the STRONGEST alchemist in the world by that point, because he put more value into his loved ones than any status or power.
Roger, his crew (probably), and Whitebeard saw the One Piece and did nothing on it. If the ending really is "the nakama we made along the way" i'd be fuming. Regardless, there will be a divide on the ending.
I don't agree that HxH could be bigger than One Piece. Primarily because of that lack of an overarching theme. One Piece is simple, yes, and its overarching theme is freedom, easy to understand. The thing is Oda's story feels so grand and epic because many of the themes that are tackled will always tie back to freedom in some way. Authoritarian government? The enemy of freedom. Wonderous world exploring sea adventure? The romantic side of freedom. Slavery, racism, extreme class division? Prejudices that affect people's freedom. There's a massive throughline that is present throughout the story and makes it worthwhile seeing how this tale of freedom through Luffy's eyes will end.
I would argue one piece is in fact not simple at all. it seems to follow a simple and uplifting narrative but is highly complex, dont know any other story that discusses so many important questions. most good stories start easy and bc of that are able to catch the attention of many and develop. one piece is a perfect example of it. we still dont even know luffy or garps or rogers or dragons or imus motivation. thats just wild
@@itsmyboardwhotalk Slight disagree, the premise is simple, but Oda does a good job showing how complicated the One Piece world is. If we look at the One Piece world without the Straw Hats as a focal lens, it is complicated; with Luffy and the crew to guide us, it's rather simple.
@@Deode-d4h whats the simple premise? luffy wanna be pirate king? thats not his dream. to achieve your dream? none of the straw hat achieved their dreams and if I could get quite melancholic etc. pp. one piece is easy told. the narrative seems simple. but if one looks closer its so complex. compare it with naruto. naruto, sasuke, pain, madara all have quite simple motivations and are main characters. look at shanks, black beard, roger, imu etc. we have no idea whats their motivation is. itachi is one of the most complex characters of naruto. compare him to garp. itachi is one of my fav characters but its possible that garp is so much deeper, his clan is hunted as well, he saw the evil of the government and endured it in a way itachi couldnt. but nobody notice it bc oda writes optimistic.
@@itsmyboardwhotalk My guy, what is Luffy's signature line? "My name is Monkey D. Luffy and I will become the King of the Pirates." Luffy says it twice in the literal first chapter of One Piece. A premise doesn't get any simpler than that. You are conflating simple with easy. I said the premise is simple and easy to understand, not that the dream is easy to achieve. Just because we learn that Pirate King is a stepping stone to Luffy's real dream, doesn't mean being the Pirate King stopped being the main premise for the hundreds of chapters that preceded it. Learn to read, I never said the One Piece world was simple and easy, I literally said it gets complicated as it goes on.
Hot Take: The Power Of Friendship is the greatest power scaling in anime. Every moment of transformation in all of anime is as the result of power of friendship.
Hot Take: I would’ve rather had Boruto and Kawaki be the reincarnations of Indra and Ashura, instead of Sasuke and Naruto. The reincarnation bit kind of ruins Sasuke and Naruto’s journey, especially Naruto’s. In shippuden, Naruto becomes a chosen one character instead of the underdog, cursed child, that he was in og Naruto. Naruto didn’t need to be a reincarnation of a god to become Hokage and have the village to accept him, he achieved half of that during the Pain Arc. I would’ve rather had Naruto stay a nobody than a prophetic hero like he was in the war. That way all his achievements are his own, instead of being the result of a divine intervention/reincarnation. Same with Sasuke. That also makes it more interesting because then instead of Sasuke and Naruto’s rivalry being partially a product of the influence of tneir reincarnations, it’s truly just about two friends who were alone and then took different paths to get what they wanted. Then after Naruto becomes Hokage and Sasuke comes back to the village, have Naruto’s son, Boruto, become the reincarnation. The son of the hero of the fourth Great Ninja War works better as a chosen one character, especially since Boruto’s already more talented than he ever was. It just fits better in my opinion. [Also before anyone says anything, I’m not saying Naruto and Sasuke didn’t work hard for their achievements, I just think they didn’t need to be godly reincarnations to do some of them]
Hot take: cg is very good for making part of a scene really pop and stick out. Few examples the crystal scorpions from shangri la, or shigarakis giant finger mutation. They stick out in the scene, also giving a big contrast to our 2d characters and surroundings to say ‘look at me’
My biggest hot take. Lost Paradise is in actuality the sequel to HxH. The writer got tired and just made the island themself. Main character looks like Killua too.
The thorfin take is fine, but why were they compared in the first place? Like wouldn't naruto make for a better comparison? Ion really think luffy is the most inspirational ever either, cuz by his own admission, he does things for himself and doesn't want to be this heroic figure or whatnot. But Luffy and throfin feel like a weird comp.
Yeah, it's a little odd. Luffy for me feels something like All Might or Superman, a literal superhero who embodies an ideal and is thus inherently a bit alien. Alien in the sense because they don't feel like people, but this perfect representation of an ideal. Don't get me wrong, not saying Luffy isn't a character, but that he's also an icon. Using Naruto as a comparison to Thorfinn works better, I agree.
@msaag5490 To me luffy feels like a dude who doesn't really want to concern himself with people he doesn't care about. He doesn't really consider the consequences of his actions (like how breaking into impel down to save ace kind of lead to BB being able to invade and able to release some of the most deadly prisoners) and lives life on his own terms not bending to anyone. He's an incredibly charismatic and endearing character and one I want to follow, but not one I'm necessarily inspired by.
I agree they’re not comparable. But there are an enormous number of grown adults who would die in the hill that luffy is more inspirational. If you go to the comments in the original post of my take you’ll see them.
@@1TonyMontanaa Bruh, I love One Piece, but the most inspirational thing the Straw Hats do is whenever they do the signature "walk" and do some crazy action like burning the world government flag. If I want to look for a "traditional" scene of inspiration, Ei Sei or Shin from Kingdom doing one of their speeches would fit. Heck, I say Dr. Hiruluk has a better inspirational final speech than anything Luffy has done. The only "inspirational" thing Luffy provides is being a beacon of freedom, a sort of aura morale buff to hold onto hope and keep fighting for freedom.
@@Deode-d4hyou and I both agree with each other. I was just saying that there are an abnormal amount of grown adults that believe luffy is the next coming of Jesus Christ.
Three things and ironically all One Piece related lol: 1. Ya A LOT of the government is bad but it's not fully corrupted even the revolutionary army doesn't want it all gone 2. I don't think it's a hot take to say the One Piece Anime is too long because most people understand that. ya people with Stockholm might say otherwise but I think that's the minority 3. I like most of the filler in One Piece not because it's amazing but because it adds to the adventure and usually has something of value so I personally think the long run time is fine but not the scenes they drag out to extend the length of an arc for no good reason or the constant flash backs of things we've already seen. Hopefully that makes sense
Hot take: Big O is the most severely underrated anime from the 2000’s that aired on Toonami and was arguably as important as DBZ in getting western audiences intrigued in anime.
Dosu and Zaku have the most powerful jutsu combo ever if they actually had teamwork, unfortunately they were utilized to early and thus plot armor and power-scale limits was why they had an early demise. Sound is vibrations of molecules, so tell me what would happen if Extreme Decapitating Airwaves were blasted over the sound amplification device and directed at a target with Resonating Echo Drill. Bodies torn apart into a bloody mist at the molecular level. It’s a brutal technique that could have redefined their impact if the plot allowed for more strategic usage!
As a One Piece fan who marathoned like 700ish episodes last year to get caught-ish up, The one piece anime's pacing is absolute crap. The 1 chapter per episode model is a BAAAAAD one. If you want to get into one piece: Read the Manga or wait for "The One Piece" because I PROMISE, especially later in the series, the OP anime's pacing WILL murder your soul. The padding in the episodes is unbearable. Still frames from the manga that would be snap-reactions get STREEEREETCHED over ridiculously long periods of background foley. So many pregnant pauses. So much airtime given to "last time on" that stretches ba 5 or six episodes. I LOVE OP's world, story, and characters. I am bordering on hatred for the current anime as it stands.
I am a One Piece fan. 100%. It is my favourit work of fiction/ art, i have been watching it for over 10 now and am reading the manga since 2016. This story kept me alive through some of the worst parts of my live, especially when i was still a child and my world broke down around me. I will never not love this story, it will never leave my number one spot. But... I think there are better stories out there and i think Hunter x Hunter is one of them. Edit: Although Hunter x Hunter being bigger than One Piece is still (sadly) a stretch due to the problems you mentioned in the video
If hunter hunter didn’t have breaks it’d prolly be over by now but it would probably need better illustration to be even close to one piece. My hot take is that 58 years old is relatively young for a profession that barely requires you to draw black and white designs.(I have beef w togashi)Especially considering his chapters aren’t that well drawn girls from my high school put out similar drawings in high school
Yeah, some people are pretty good at drawing single big pictures, but drawing fifty pages of 4-6 tiny detailed illustrations with words and gutters between them every month, hunched over a desk with crippling back problems is a little different, no? If it was really that easy to pump out manga chapters, every good artist would do it, yeah? I wouldn't call it gatekeeping a story so much as I would call it "agonizing spinal injury and dehabilitating motor function issues with the hand you literally use to draw." He seriously can't even sit down; I think it's better for all of us to just let him rest 😔
Gonna be honest for the longest time I though Gogo was the mc for jjk until I looked up the anime cause all I heard was "Did you see what Gogo did this week!?"
Heres a hot take. The pro subtitles crowd do more harm to the anime scene then any MHA fans ever could. If you mention anything negative about Subs, you you won't go without some kind of negative response.
My hot take is that the side characters are almost always better than the main characters/ villains. All of the anime I've seen so far have had way more interesting/ funny side characters who are far more fun to watch than the protaganists or villains. For anyone who's interested, of the current anime I'm watching these are my favorite characters to prove my point. My Hero Academia- My favorite is Kaminari Haikyu- My favorite character would be either Nishinoya or Yamaguchi Fruits basket- Hatsuharu. No idea why, I just love him.
What do you mean by inspirational in thorfinn vs luffy bc there is three ways you could be talking about. First inspirational as in other animes/manga taking inspiration from their stories. Second, you have how much they inspire the reader. And finally, you have how inspirational they are to characters in the story. I'm just curious on which one is being talked abt
Can someone explain something to me about jjk? So it’s pretty well understood that binding vows are the loose screw in the jjk power system but one part of it is explained. A pact with multiple people involved can have very extreme consequences that can vary wildly in how the consequences play out. In the same conversation where that is explained it tells the consequences of breaking a pact put on yourself (I’m getting this all from the English dub so that may be where the problem comes from.) if you break a vow you put on yourself, you lose the benefits you gained from your limitation. Which is very mild considering what it could be. So my question? Useless miwa, she made a vow that she would never touch a sword again in exchange for a massive power increase that did absolutely nothing for her. Her sword broke. Boom done. What is to stop her from getting a new sword and picking up where she left off? The way it’s explained, if she breaks the vow she would lose the power she gained from the vow. But her not being able to use a sword accomplishes the same negative effect and then some. So if she picked up a new sword wouldn’t she be right back to where she was in strength before she made the vow? Is it possible that the powers that be knew she would break the vow eventually so the benefit she gained did nothing? It would explain why that moment fell so flat for her. But then sukuna breaking his own vows wouldn’t explain how he maintained his power and got benefits from vows he would eventually break. Idk the loose screw is rattling my brain rn.
I think the issue is even with a binding vow Miwa just wasn’t strong enough to do anything. For example do you think Mai or Nobara (if they were still alive) would be able to gain enough strength to defeat Sukuna simply by making a binding vow to never use their weapons again or any vow really? In Sukuna’s case breaking the binding vow doesn’t really effect him because he usually only need the power-up temporarily for a single exchange anyway as a get out of jail card. He more Like “oh no I went from being too strong for your Ace-in-the-Hole suicide level attack to even bother me back to just being too strong for you to beat, how will I survive?”
The eminence in shadow is one of my favorite isekai anime. It feels like a parody of the shitty isekai that you tend to think of when you hear the word. A good example is when Shadow is playing the piano underground and it gives off that cheesy cliché, and then it shows people trying to find a missing piano from where he stole it... HE STOLE A PIANO for a dramatic scene. And as you said, it's also true that the MC doesn't care about having a harem at all. They tend to do their own thing while Shadow does his. They basically all love him BUT when they actually try something, you'll often find him on the ceiling hiding from them, so that he can go back to being a chuunibyo. It gets serious sometimes too, and while it might not have much depth, it makes up for it in HYPE.
I feel like the mc potential of a villian that is just the strongest by being the absolute worst makes the catharsis of him finally being put down all that more rewarding especially if they are in on it "is this it? Is this the one who will finally fight past my cheating and bull finally!!!" Dont know if this has been done effectively yet, but im entertained by the idea. I also feel like the mc needing to be that underdog just inherently being the better option be limited in storytelling potential, like anime can continue to branch out, be a lot of different things.
They titled it as "The strongest sorcerer of today vs of history" it'll be underwhelming when someone significantly weaker beats Sukuna. Yeah he's weakened now but look how long it took for it to happen. They had the chance with Madara but Kaguya has to happen 🤷
Idk demon Slayer blows bc it's simple. And by simple I mean there's just no substance to it. Nothing is ever explained, all the cool stuff that should be elaborated on just gets brushed over to skip to the next battle. Simple isn't bad I LOVE mob psycho 100 and it's simple as hell. But demon Slayer is simple in all the wrong ways
I love Eminence for the sole reason that Shadow is me in middle school and how I would have been in that story, its cringe in the best way I fucking love.
gonna put 2 comments in one because I don't feel like making them separate. 1. In terms of Isekai, I honestly just watch them to pass the time, not really enjoy them since they do follow the same path. The only one for me that doesn't as much do that Is Log Horizon and it also is one of my favorite anime, so I'm probably biased there. That being said, I still thought season 3 was kinda garbage and I could be wrong, but I believe the author dropped it a while back. 2. When I first watched Mushoku Tensei, one of my first thoughts were "this feels like 'The beginning after the end' except the main character VASTLY views relationships differently". I don't know if anyone else knows what I'm referencing, but yeah. Thought it was kinda amusing
Bruhh, you don't have to explain yourself to nobody 😂. I've loved Isekai since I came to America and first read .Hack in elementary school! Ever since then, I LOVE isekei, because I'm a HUGE gamer and would LOVE to be in my favorite video games! Log Horizon, SaO (First season) and especially OVERLORD are some of my favorite ANIME let alone Isekei! Enjoy what you enjoy, and be damn proud of it! You don't watch anime to please others right? 🤘🐺🤙
The thorfinn one is the coldest take I’ve ever heard and one piece used to be my #1 anime and is still in my top 3 I read every chapter and hypothesize abt every single one, I don’t care for Vinland saga nearly as much as I do anymore but thorfinn was so much more inspirational than Luffy will ever be

fr idk how people can judge a whole series around 1-5 episodes

The biggest problem with isekai, is that they don't need to be isekai in the first place
Very true. 90% of the time, their past life has nothing to do with anything going on in the story.

As a One Piece fan, I've never heard any other One Piece fan say they like the pacing 😂
Really liked the video though
Heck yeah, I'd say liking the One Piece anime pacing is a hot take all on it's own. In fact, I would have preferred a world where when Toei is like 30 chapters or less behind the start of the current manga arc, they would cease making One Piece for like a year, and then start again. Just so we have a well paced anime.
I've been saying for years if one piece gets remade from the start with better animation and pacing I'd 100% drop toei and watch the new one, I can't wait for this remake
I've seen it many times. It's not common, but it does exist.

33:00 yes. people who actually understand and comprehend the story and lesson of Vinland Saga, know this. 21:55 "Now im not saying One Piece is a simple story." Literally 30 seconds earlier "One Piece is kind of a simple story." I mean this in the nicest way possible. i just thought it was funny that he immediately contradicted himself
not really. he said its not simple, but its kinda simple. kinda simple means the main theme is simple (be pirate king and be free), but the things going on arent simple so the story overall isnt really simple
and it's not even simple it's just more digestible since it's better at explaining its complicated aspects
To be honest, it has so much time to explain and flush out everything that it automatically becomes simple and easy to digest. If you were to introduce stuff like military doctrine, slavery, genocide etc along eith the two power systems of devil fruit and haki into 25 episodes, it will become complicated
Explaining what JJK would be if Sukuna was the MC just sounds like an Isekai haha 😂
JJK SPOILERS:
Itadori being the son of Kenjaku should have played into the story more, and Kenjaku could have used this knowledge to gain Yuji's trust to tempt him into gaining the dark power needed to kill Sukuna...

It feels good to know that someone other than me knows that Overlord is not like those cheap pedophilic isekai😃 like Mushuku Tensai😒
The crazier part is that the tropes that Nick mentioned that isekai needs to get rid off only loosely apply to Overlord so he either only watched the first three episodes and just asumed that it's going down the average isekai route or he only read a few things about Overlord and is assuming it's just another average isekai
@@mangahell8177 EXACTLY
IF he fully watch it he would know the simplist facts that make Overlord unique And amazing. An example would be AINZ ore Momongas past world And how it was a post Apocalyptic world where one could find dead people on the roads, the air was toxic and the only thing worth living for, for Ainz it was to play with his friends in Yggdriziell so much that he spent a lot of money on it.

@noahvanderwyst1232 once you get to the teleportation disaster it gets much better
Opposite for me@@dukeofawesome3718
I dunno I can understand why people would be uncomfortable with the pervy stuff, but at the same time I feel like the people who drop the show over it are missing the point… while yeah, it’s a common stupid anime trope, I feel like this show in particular takes it a lot more seriously than others. It’s supposed to be a genuine character flaw that rudius learns from and matures slightly over time.
@Zlittlepenguin I can see your point, I do enjoy that rudeus had grown alot as a character and is getting away from the overly pervy stuff.
When talking about more fun isekai. I really like a realist hero rebuilds a kingdom.
I tried watching that, but stopped when I found myself rooting for the people the author of the story wants me to hate.
I'm not watching a show that tells me just people are bad.
Keep up the awesome work and videos Nick love the video
The thing with the dub vs sub debate is that a lot of our introductions to anime was through the medium of 4kids who made some of the worse censors and localizations and those things made people mix up bad dubs with the censorship and localizations
My hot take, every genin in the Sasuke retrieval arc would have better served the story if they died.
Originally it was supposed to be that way I heard. Like Neji, Choji, and I think Lee we're supposed to die in that arc. But I believe it was the editors who decided against that.
@@Deode-d4h you can tell, cause those three in particular serve almost no purpose for the rest of the story XD
@@Zlittlepenguin Add Tenten, she wasn't even supposed to die at all but Kishimoto never gave her an actual role other than be beaten up by Temari in the Chunin Exam.

2:.....HOLY SH*T I... NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT.... DAMMM
Although to be honest, Rock Lee and Vegeta have completely different stories because in reality most of the characters in Dragon Ball train like Rock Lee, but what separates their characters and the fans is the redemption of Vegeta
And the fact that Vegeta has ben taken away moments that were for him AHEM his fight against Frieza in his resurrection. 👀
Fans of Vegeta have more to admire than just a guy who trains and inspires because at the end of the day Vegeta has a bigger character than rock LEE.

Hot Take: Filler that isnt retconned (or further conflict with main story) should be considered canon by fans/analysts

Also under the dub vs sub debate:
People don't actually hate dubs because of hearing a specific actor use their same voice in yet another role. If that were the case, they'd have to hate most subs as well. There are Japanese VAs that have hundreds of characters under their belt, and people never complain, even when every single character is delivered the same way. But have the actor speak English, and now it's an issue? No. This is just a lazy excuse to justify your dislike of the dub, instead of digging deeper to your real issues with it (assuming those issues aren't just as shallow).
in terms of the luffy thorfinn take, they personally motivate me in different ways? like moment to moment day to day i WANT to be like luffy, effortlessly persevering towards my goals and dreams, but thorfinn is more motivational in situations where im struggling to find that motivation, when i was actively grappling with what i wanted to do with my life thorfinn and vinland saga was probably the most motivating piece of fiction imaginable, but on a day to day basis it doesnt motivate me because thorfinns motivation isnt efforless like luffy's, idk if this makes sense to anyone else but i guess tldr;
luffy motivates me day to day but thorfinn motivates me in "hard times"

Nick you should definitely give the German goku a try i think that’s the greatest voice actor I’ve ever heard!!!
I agree with the isekai take. Isekai enjoyers are weird and like to watch the same thing but with a different harem
Hxh does have an overarching theme though, its about how humans Are inherently evil creatures and Are the cause of most of the worlds problems.
I had to stop reading HXH after the Chimera Ant arc because of the Harvard essay length explanations every page
Three things and ironically all One Piece related lol:
1. Ya A LOT of the government is bad but it's not fully corrupted even the revolutionary army doesn't want it all gone
2. I don't think it's a hot take to say the One Piece Anime is too long because most people understand that. ya people with Stockholm might say otherwise but I think that's the minority
I liked the eyecatch/intermission it gives that slice of life extra content but it's just adds to the said padding

But...
I think there are better stories out there and i think Hunter x Hunter is one of them.
Edit: Although Hunter x Hunter being bigger than One Piece is still (sadly) a stretch due to the problems you mentioned in the video
Honestly with the KAI version one piece isn’t super long and the pacing is really good, ok it’s not jjk season 2 pacing but it still is very good
Am I the only one that blushed when he kissed the mic
If hunter hunter didn’t have breaks it’d prolly be over by now but it would probably need better illustration to be even close to one piece. My hot take is that 58 years old is relatively young for a profession that barely requires you to draw black and white designs.(I have beef w togashi)Especially considering his chapters aren’t that well drawn girls from my high school put out similar drawings in high school
He’s a fantastic story teller but the fact he’s gatekeeping the story so he can draw is is lame as hell especially when illustration is barely mid
Grimgar and Ash is such a good Isekai bc of how realistic the characters where.
Bro is a konosuba connoisseur
Mitsuri had no focus in the swordsman village and their only role was to keep hantwngu at bay
Crazy that youtube took the video down
Campfire Cooking is such a good anime! Needs more LOVE! BY the Grace of Gods is also a really good one for me. Very wholesome!
You don’t even have to say anything negative about subs for that to happen lol just say you prefer dubs and watch a mob of people flock to roast you.
My Hero Academia- My favorite is Kaminari
Haikyu- My favorite character would be either Nishinoya or Yamaguchi
Fruits basket- Hatsuharu. No idea why, I just love him.
Nick should do jjk Hot takes
All in favor say domain expansion
Domain expansion
He more Like “oh no I went from being too strong for your Ace-in-the-Hole suicide level attack to even bother me back to just being too strong for you to beat, how will I survive?”
show don't tell what about that episode of hxh where there just moving pictures and they tell you everything even a character walking in an elevator
great video man! I have that same shirt W drip
Wit making a remake for OP is great for OG and new comers. I can’t wait
I can agree slime put to much focus on laying out all the plans for things that will only be meaningful until later
Every time I hear Nick talk about Jobless Reincarnation I feel attacked 😭
The thorfinn one is the coldest take I’ve ever heard and one piece used to be my #1 anime and is still in my top 3 I read every chapter and hypothesize abt every single one, I don’t care for Vinland saga nearly as much as I do anymore but thorfinn was so much more inspirational than Luffy will ever be
The truth is always bitter
Why do you state your opinion as a objective fact?
