    Hi Makiah!🥺 You’re so gorgeous, thank you for your video!
    I just had some questions, if you don’t mind answering!
    1. How do you feel about the professors?
    2. If you may please do a video on housing!
    3. Besides having some people you knew there, was it easy to make friends?
    Thank you

    • @Makiah
      @Makiah  3 года назад +2

      Hi Priya! Thank you :) Yes, I'll answer.
      1. Each professor is gonna vary, especially depending on your major. What I can say is that I actually enjoyed all of my BECA professors. They were very chill, some of them really funny, and I just felt like they really want to help you as much as they can. If you have your schedule and know your prof. already, feel free to dm me about specific ones.
      2. I never lived in the dorms, so I wouldn't be able to speak on that type of housing. BUT, I can do a video on my experience (and struggle lol) with off-campus housing in the area.
      3. I was surprised at how easy it was to make friends there. I can do a video on this subject, too, but yea, generally the ppl at sfsu are very chill.

    Hi makiah I just got accepted for the beca program and was curious since you are diving into the production aspect of it is there any type of acting scene in the Bay Area? I just got accepted to csulb for comm and was trying to get into the acting/theatre scene. Considering lb is near la there is a lot of connections because of the glitz an glamer in Hollywood. Is sfsu acting scene more commercial based than film based?

    • @Makiah
      @Makiah  Год назад +1

      I'd suggest maybe trying out the theater major instead of BECA if your interest is more in that direction. I've taken some theater/stage art classes and learned a lot from them. But beca is gonna give more of the production side. Look at the class descriptions online of both sfsu and csulb and compare which one seems more suitable.

    I have a question, do they let you try out different positions to see which one you like best? For example, directing, producing, writing, etc.

    • @Makiah
      @Makiah  3 года назад +2

      Yeah, there are different classes where dedicated to directing, writing, editing, etc. Also, within some of the classes there will be projects/ assignments that will allow you to get a chance to be different roles.

    • @Makiah

      I'm not knowledgeable on Fresno state's program so I don't think I'll be much help lol. At the end of the day though, what matters more is gaining experience in the field, so don't trip too much on which one you choose.

    what did u submit in your application? (did u have to submit a portfolio of your work? LORs- letters of recommendation, self assessed essays) i wanna apply as a film major too(cinematography), just wanted to know what to do as an international student, il be applying for 2022 fall.

    • @Makiah
      @Makiah  2 года назад +1

      You just need to submit the regular SFSU application. No supplementary materials needed unless you are interested in minoring in Animation--then you need a portfolio. Check out the Admissions page on the SFSU website for more details, but it's basically 2.0 gpa, decent test scores for ACT or SAT, etc.

    Do they have a good filmmaking BFA or does it only havw a good masters?? I hear so many ppl talk about the MFA and not the bachelor's. Idk if that makes sense

      You'd probably find more info about that by looking into the cinema department. I got a bachelors of arts in BECA

    Hi, I’m applying to SFS soon as a film major and I don’t know how the curriculum is divided. How would you say your workloads have been proportionally divided between filmmaking and other classes? I’m hoping filmmaking is like at least 2/3 of the work.

    • @Makiah
      @Makiah  3 года назад +1

      If you are coming in as a freshman, because it is a CSU your first few semesters will be mainly general education courses with maybe 1 or 2 classes from your major. As you get into upper division, the majority of your classes will be focused on filmmaking.
      But there are so many film clubs that you can get involved with so that you're still involving yourself in your craft while working on completing the GE classes.
      I hope that helps:)

    • @Makiah

      Nope. Nothing supplementary needed, like a reel/ portfolio for a BECA major. I'm not 100% sure for Cinema majors.

    how easy is it to change major, i got in for interior design but film is what I really like but iam unsure if it will be difficult for me to change majors. ( iam still unsure if I will attend sfsu but just want to know)

    • @Makiah
      @Makiah  3 года назад

      I believe it is just a matter of submitting a form and then waiting for the approval of your request. If the major you are planning to switch to is very impacted, it might take a little longer. I'm not sure how impacted BECA or Cinema is.

    What is the tuition cost for international students in a film major?

    • @Makiah

      Here's what I found on the sfsu site:
      "The current Nonresident Tuition Fee for each unit is at least US$372 for both international undergraduate and graduate students."

    Not sure if i should go to chabot first then transfer or just go to sf😖

    • @Makiah
      @Makiah  3 года назад +1

      Going to chabot first would save you money and help you get your general education courses completed. Plus, with everything being online right now, you wouldn't be missing out on much at sfsu. But if money is not an issue, then going straight there is cool, too. I know plenty ppl who transferred from a juco and they are happy with that decision. Do whatever feels right for you though! 😊
