When I was 14 years old and a Freshman in HS, I had a project for my history class, and was at the library. I went to checkout a book about John Kennedy, and in that book was a burnt CD labeled simply "Bad Astronaut" and I took that CD home and popped into my stereo. This song was on it, and I loved NOFX, and I loved this version. That was one of my favorite CD's I had for the duration of my HS career. My senior year, I took that same CD and went to the library, and I inserted it into a book about Nikola Tesla. I did the same with a handful of other CD's for artists I listened to at the time. Music is meant to be shared, and I loved discovering this band the way I did and I want to pass on that experience.
One day, when you're not 14 years old anymore, you'll rediscover this and think it is amazing. I promise. We've all been there. Also, bit your tongue. Joey Cap can do NO wrong. Now go listen to some Lagwagon and learn.
bro nobody whos 14 has heard of fat wreck or any of this shit. the caper wuld be the first person to tell you he fucks up constantly, just like the rest of us humans...in fact thats what hsalf of his songs are about! so maybe instead of this sad pretentious douchebaggery, youre the one who may want to listen and learn. failing that you could try to be just a little lless odiously condescending to imaginary teenagers. good cover though
His cover of violins is awesome ......... these punk song really bring me bact to the late 80 early 90s... Its 2018 and sometimes i catch a glimps of that16 year old with a red fishtailed mohawk his best go to hell grin...... and tickets for the show in his pocket..... I really miss that kid ...................
It's more of an ode than a cover. I was about 13 when I listened to Punk in Drublic. Left them after The Decline but always kept an eye on the caper and his projects...If you come from there like so many do, shattered around the world, you would apreciate this wether you liked it or not.
it's been said. but Cape is very talented. i'm just glad he's still makin music. the covers are good as well as the Lagwagon accoustic re-releases. keep it up brashua
Possesions never meant anything to me I'm not crazy Well that's not true I've got a bed And A guitar And a dog named Bob who pisses on my floor That's right I've got a floor So what? So What? So What? I've got pockets full of lint and holes Where everything important to me Just seems to fall right down my leg And onto the floor
Wow! This is quality!!!!! I also like the other vershion with the cover! Lol, slowed or speed up and odd variation here seems to be a wonderful experience! Personaly I like this vershion because its relaxing
i am a HUGE streetlight fan (been listening to kalnoky since he was in catch 22), but i have to say that i like this cover of Linoleum more than streetlight's, just because this band approached the song in a more creative way, making it sound like their own. nothing will ever beat NOFX's original version
My closest friend, linoleum...linoleum Supports my head, gives me something to believe That's me on the beachside combing the sand Metal meter in my hand Sportin' a pocket full of change That's me in the street with a violin under my chin Playing with a grin Singin' jibberish Thats me on the back of the bus Thats me in the cell Thats me inside your head Thats me inside your head
@shoydis What does that even mean? Yes, Bad Astronaut and SLM are different kinds of bands. That doesn't mean I can't enjoy one version of this song more than the other.
"Sporting a pocket full of shit" and "Playing with a grin, singing G.B.H." are the lyrics Fat Mike himself uses when performing this song live most times, to all of you people bitching that Joey Cape fucked the lyrics up. Reference "I Heard They Suck Live" if you need further evidence. Thank you.
i like it iv seen all lagwagone and nofx when thay come you austrialia i love them its fucking brow hem to all the haters and love for music and bringing joy to others lifes when thay are down in life dont for get thay are people just like us and haft do deal with there life and all us crazy punck rock fans be safe my brothers you do so good
I can't believe what a fucking genius Joey Cape is. For all you fuckers who think he ruined this song or makes it "too slow" Grow up. You'll mature to love this stuff one day. Believe me. I've been on both sides of this argument until I grew pubes and matured. Love NOFX, but this song certainly does it justice.
Streetlight manifesto's cover = apples bad astronaut's cover = oranges They may be different, and some may like one over the other more, but both are fucking delicious

No idea what triggered this comment, but I agree with every friggin' part of it. Capester for President, 100%
everything important to me...
He didn't try to make it a NOFX cover, but rather a Bad Astronaut interpretation. And in that, they were successful.
PS3Juggalo +100000000000000000000000 !
The beauty of music, at its finest
Joey is amazing!!! My inspiration for 20yrs and still counting! ! !

Feel the same here in Lyon ...
What do you mean his cover of Violins?
best cover of Linoleum ever!
I appreciate that Joey went with the lyrics from NOFX live shows
It’s what he wanted to write but he changed the lyrics in studio on the spot, the dog was to be named dog but changed to bob in the last minute
uno de los mejores temas cantado por una de las mejores voces.
I never imagined this song played like that. it's AWESOME!
Lagwagon is my jam. Friend just turned me onto these dudes. Love this version! Bought a couple of their albums immediately:-)
Shit, this is the sound of my teen years getting farther and farther away
We are still punks at heart!
I'm just happy I can hear different versions of Linoleum
Between Streetlight Manifesto's cover, the original and this cover, all very different, all very well done.
A great cover Cape's voice is awesome
I like listening to the shai hulud version, immediately followed by this.

holy crap. i never expected this to sound like that. nice!!!!
I don't know that one is necessarily better than the other...I like them both: they're different. Depends on my mood which one I listen to.
I love Joey Cape. I must say, it was awesome being able to finally see Bad Astronaut last year.
Possesions never meant anything to me
I'm not crazy
Well that's not true I've got a bed
And A guitar
And a dog named Bob who pisses on my floor
That's right I've got a floor
So what? So What? So What?
I've got pockets full of lint and holes
Where everything important to me
Just seems to fall right down my leg
And onto the floor
... It's "..a dog named dog", not Bob
awasome... this is the best music ever.. bad astronaut just made this more awesome!
thats me inside your head
I like this. I like hearing what certain songs would sound like if another band wrote them.
There are a lot of versions of this song, but hands down this is one is the best one after the original.

i am a HUGE streetlight fan (been listening to kalnoky since he was in catch 22), but i have to say that i like this cover of Linoleum more than streetlight's, just because this band approached the song in a more creative way, making it sound like their own.

I was listening to all those crappy metal covers of this song, but this is the first cover i hear that is quite good.
GREAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT
Playback speed 1.5 saves this arrangement.
It's a reference to GBH, the band. NOFX also use this line live.
so cool

No, Derrick Plourde the drummer. Joey Cape said without derrick there could be no Bad Astronaut
You, my good sir, are correct.
