Maybe this will help you and the audience understand China, Mr. Schell: in terms of “give and take” with the US, what actually happens is the US first takes something with its dominant power in global finance and military, and holds it hostage in order to take something else. So basically it means the US always takes. Other countries always give, and receive something only when the US feels like being charitable.
China won’t play this kind of zero-sum game. If you deal with China, then it can only be a win-win game, or China doesn’t mind for it to end up being lose-lose.

It's very interesting to see that's a huge gap between how some of the experts on China see the country is getting worse, against their wishes (liberal democracy or whatever that might be), comparing with 10 or 20 or 30 years ago on one hand, and I can say 90%+ of the majority of the Chinese is thinking the opposite.
In other words, majority of the Chinese think, and rightfully so, things in China is getting better (much better) now comparing to 10, 20 or 30 years ago.
The evidence is very clear of the high confidence the Chinese have in their own govt.
Why?Because the CCP delivers. CCP can't brainwash people by telling them they are eating candy and meat when they are actually eating mud.
Propaganda doesn't deliver tangible things. Without tangible goods, propaganda can only go so far.
CCP lose face when they fail to deliver to the Chinese and solving all kinds of problems. It happens all the time. But in general CCP delivers.
With 800+ overseas military bases ard the world in over 70 countries and the king of sanctions and endless wars overseas killing hundreds of thousands , it is more than sarcastic when Orville said China throwing their weights around or bullying, it is 10 times more applicable in the case of USA itself.
Orville even went so far as saying China giving a list and order people what they should do. This is exactly what the USA did to other countries including China again again and again.
China is a miracle at the same time it is not. It's more about governance and unity.
China never claim to be the best system but so far it works for China. Nor China exporting their system overseas.
