That short of attitude could justify the officer being kicked off the armed squad. There is a provision for taking the camera IF, and ONLY IF you had recorded something of evidential value for a serious matter. In this case, it is clear he just wanted to exert this authority. What a pity.

What needs to happen when particularly unpleasant officers appear on social media, is for them to be identified and all personal details posted on a "Copwatch Website" which operates outside of UK state influences.
Look, culturally in Liverpool the police are not well regarded. There is kind of a standoff with everybody. There is a lot of history. It makes the police a bit twitchy. I am not excusing his behaviour but this is normal in Merseyside. A few weeks ago a friend of mine had his phone grabbed off him so they could get his IMEI number because he wasn't in a local car. They were mental back in the eighties.

That police officer may have underlying mental health issues, also appears very controlling, we have had a number of those types recently being put before the criminal courts. His background really needs to be looked at very closely

Why would he need to seize your camera for evidence when you’d only just arrived? Surely their own cameras would have recorded more relevant footage. If there’s still evidence that potentially needs to be captured on cam, perhaps they should film it (and witness it with their own eyes/ears) instead of standing together chatting. Of course we all know it’s really all about power.

Two of the biggest bullies at my secondary school are now coppers. One of them in particular is still a complete nightmare. It’s a shame for the good coppers that they too are let down by a few bad eggs on the force.

This is why I'm thankful police constables don't carry firearms in this country.
