Sour Cream for at least 30 days Subscribe for the next cooking tip!
Does this work for regular cream too? 🤔
After you dip into the sour cream, make the remaining part flat and smooth (I use a spoon or spatula) and the next time you go to use it, there won't be that liquid sitting on top.
FYI I'M VISUALLY IMPAIRED EXCUSE THE CAPS BUT I LOVE HER AND I JUST WANTED TO SAY THE WAY YOU TALK TO EVERYONE I'M 73 YEARS OLD AND I CAN MAKE JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING BUT I JUST ENJOY WATCHING YOU AND YOU'RE SO THOROUGH AND YOU GIVE A LOT OF TIPS AND I LOVE YOU FOR HELPING W❤❤❤😂
i still can’t afford it at my Ruler store in Princeton in 😢❤
Yes, air is the enemy here. ❤
Pam, After opening, I have always tipped the sour cream upside down in the fridge. It removes all the air in the container. I also do it to yogurt and cottage cheese. It lasts at least 30 days after the expiration date.
@alemack689 - You beat me to it.
@@priscillamoore5736 🤩
@@priscillamoore5736 I was gonna say the same thing, cottage cheese, sour cream, guacamole it works great😊
Great tip, thank you so much 🙏🏼
Awesome
Great tip 👍🎉🎉 i don't use sour cream often, but I hate to waste too.
All you have to do is store open and closed dairy cartons of sour cream, yogurt, cottage cream is upside down. The same way you store open paint to cut off the air.
Ps. I store the opened ones on a saucer or container with sides so if whey separates, it doesn't spill onto the refrig shelf.
Ty Ms. Pam! I ❤ all ur tips! I will use this one Alot! One of my fave tips was wrapping my lettuce & celery in foil - lasts 2x longer. I told my Mom & she does it now 😊 Cost of groceries today 😮 ur tips are a blessing!
Yesssss that was s great tip
The foil trick didn't work for me celery wise.I do wrap my lettuce in paper towel sheets and put it in big zip lock bag.
Great tip 👍🏾
Thanks Pam ♥️
Thank you Pam❤. I have that problem, and you just solved yet another one of my dilemas💋💋❤️. God bless you precious lady 🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️
You are slick with the plastic wrap 👍🏾👍🏾
Thanks for the great tip Chef
Great
Good to know❤
I have done it with ice cream and pudding to prevent drying. Not much of that stuff in my house these days Or sour cream. Use greek yogurt as sour cream substitute.
Thank you for showing me what to do!
Hey that's how I save acrylic paint when I don't want to remix my colors!
Another winner from Pam!
Thank you good idea love pam you give us good tips❤.
Perfect! Got a big container in the fridge now and just did this!! Thanks Pam you are a wonder in the kitchen and the quick tips and tricks are great, keep them coming and Im now subbed 👍
I could use that handy helper. Thanks
I love your channel & your tips. They’ve been so instrumental in my daily life. Thank you so much!
Never thought of that. It’s an excellent idea, and makes a lot of sense. I always have sour cream left over, and it goes bad before we can use it all. If I buy a smaller amount, then we don’t have enough, so I always buy the largest size available, but end up throwing some of it out. I’ll give this a try. Thanks!
That’s crazy simple… You don’t even know how much sour cream I have tossed.
Thank you Pam ❤❤❤
Great tip Pam. We really appreciate these valuable tips you give us.
Thanks Honey
Wallah, genius 🎉❤
Thanks for the tip Pam. I buy the squeezable container most of the time. It last a long time. 😊🙏💘
I know this has nothing to do with making sour cream last longer BUT: my in-laws _love_ sour cream (who doesn't??) This wouldn't be a problem except they are both obese and they don't need all that added fat and calories. I cook for them, often, and while I can't gold ~wild~ as far as making them something super healthy (because they won't eat it) I have started using full-fat plain greek yogurt. I use it in a 1:3 ratio & they can't tell! There's the added benefit of extra protein _and_ probiotics 🙂 I realize this isn't ~new~ but many people dislike the swap because they've gone their whole lives using plain, non-fat, _regular_ yogurt, but you get the best results with Greek Yogurt or Skyr.
If the recipe isn't super sour cream-forward, I up the amount of yogurt. If it's in cakes or cookies? Swap it entirely. I've done it myself for years, but they're a great example of how you really can't tell a difference 😉
Though any Greek yogurt is and well can be a bit pricey why I been using the GV brand from Walmart yeah taste the same and I sure that would work just as well in place of sour cream but I do like the sour cream but I don't eat it fast so yes putting the plastic wrap would be the best way to go but well
@@marnettadavidsonwest6757 Yes, Greek yogurt may be cost prohibitive to some. You just gotta ask yourself what well-being is worth, ya know? I'm thrifty as all get out, but Greek yogurt lasts quite a bit of time & can be used for so many things. You did make a good point though :)
I have started buying the squeezable one at Walmart and they do last a long time. Pam you are always full of wonderful tips!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Me too Mattie. They last a long time. 😊🙏💘
Wonder if this method will work on cottage cheese as well
In the comments above, several people have mentioned that this works for cottage cheese, yogurt etc & even guacamole.
Thanks Pam for your tip about storing sour cream; because when I store it upside down some liquid leaks out. Keep the tips coming please.
Thanks BELOVED FOR SHARING ❣️
Thanks for sharing, I love your videos. I try many of your recipes. Can't wait to try the spaghetti in the oven.
Great tip. Thank you Pam.
You are so lovely! Thanks for another great tip! Another culprit is double dipping with a licked spoon. 😅 It quickly becomes a petri dish and a great science homeschool lesson the kids won't forget.
Thanks for sharing!!
This. Clean spoon only, on every scoop.
Sorry not when it’s just mine and only mine. No one else eats it but me.
@@CookingAtPamsPlace It's not about the number of people. One cook can introduce bacteria into the container: licking and reusing the spoon, spooning other items and then the sour cream. Sour cream is just a wonderful growing medium for anything that gets into it, no matter how it gets into it.
I love you, Ms. Pam! You teach me so much every time I watch your videos. ❤
your tips and information is very helpful
Pam ❤God bless you precious Lady!!!!
Thank you, Pam!
Welcome!
Thanks, Pam! That's another great tip!!!
I like the squeeze containers. They last a long time. No air exposure
You always have awesome tips! Thank you!!
Storing it upside down also works
Thank you for your great advice about the sour cream. I was planning to same this weekend for corn muffin. God bless you. Love you in Christ
Great idea Pam!!
Thank you for all you do.
😊Thanks for another Great Tip Miss Pam ❤.
Love your tips girl!!
Wow I didn't know that you are awesome❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I'm so glad you're back was that
Thanks Pam!
If you flatten it out after using it, it will prevent the moisture from creating liquid which will go bad. Works like a charm.
I love that you smile he whole video. Thank you! I don't eat sour cream or yogurt fast enough so I just don't buy it but THIS will solve my problem.
I just love all your ideas .and you sure have made me a better cook. Thank you. 😊😊😊
You are so welcome!
Thank you Ms. Pam❤
Welcome!
❤
Is it the same w/cottage cheese?
Thank you for this tip. ❤
Thank you for this tip.
Thank you Pam. I'm going to try that. I have a sister named Pam.
Oh wonderful name lol. Thanks
Thank you Pam🎉
Thanks Pam,❤❤❤
Everyone saying to store upside down, not saying you're wrong, but if this plastic wrap trick works too then you can store the container upright and eliminate that leakage hazard.
And I'm grateful to all of you and Pam, never heard of this before. I hardly use sour cream, but when I do it's always been pretty much a given that I'd end up dumping the leftover. Will try this next time.
👍👍
Good one Pam!

Greetings! Thank you ❤
Dont need plastic wrap. Store your sour cream, cottage cheese & yogurt. UPSIDE DOWN in the fridge! No condensation & last longer! True story!
Thankyou❤
Works for that xtra large leftover salad too
Thank you blessings❤
Sour cream don’t even last a week in my house we use it for everything from tacos to franks chicken. And even mashed potatoes potato’s make sauce with it for dipping also
❤thanks Pam! I like sour cream and always wondered why it wouldn't last long.
Cool!! Thank You!!
❤Thank You...... Great tip!!!
Wow, I didn't know that. Thanks.
Ok then Pam. Thanks.
Plastic wrap is going to have a special spot in my kitchen going forward after this tip and your previous tip
Thank you ms pam!
Pam, would this apply to Greek yogurt as well?
Thank you!
Easy peasy ! Just the way I like it. Lol!!!
You are the best!
You won't believe that I had until just today. Sour cream in my refrigerator with the next paration date sometime in
December and I only threw it away because it's been so long, but I swear that sour cream was still good! NO KIDDING!
Thanks for the info Pam. If I can get to save some sour cream for 30days I know what to do now. My problem for me is sour cream only last less then 24hrs😊
You can do the same with guacamole and it will keep it from turning brown as fast..
I do that with my cottage cheese, also
Thanks pam
Nice! I do something similar with guacamole.
Thank you ❤
You need to write a book..
I just buy it in the squeeze bottle since my kids would cross-contaminate the tub ones.
Thank You
I do the same with ice cream. No ice crystals or off taste, and it will keep for a long time.
Thank you
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
Didn’t know that.❤
Can you do this for regular yogurt, too?
This works on guacamole 🥑 too❤
I use a paper towel. Works well also
❤thanks
My sour cream always lasts longer than 30 days without even doing anything other than the lid or much longer if you buy the Daisy squeezable tube type vs the tub type.....rule of thumb if you need a lot of sour cream and plan to use the whole or most of a tub then buy a tub, but if your usage is a squirt here and there get the tube.
I love me some sour cream. It's never a sweet as you are Pam! 😍
