- With the free OS1.4 update you will get the newly sampled old Nashville C3 grand piano, which is a character rich sound, where the grand piano has been left with its imperfections. As a contrast you will also get the highly requested piano sound no2 from CP300, which is a dynamic and quite aggressive sound that really cuts through a mix and sits well with a pad sound.
On top of the new piano sounds you will get a collection of miscellaneous sounds like guitars, pads and accordion. This video highlights a selection of the new additional sounds, featuring keyboard player Jonas Gröning

A ittle tip for jazz pianists: Short the release time of the piano sound (turn advance mod on on Sub section, find a piano there (C7 or CF3 works best) and turn down the realease knob about 30 ), it adds that jazzy flavour to your solos and comping as well ;)
Great, thanks man!
Thanks

Great demo, love Jonas playing! Happy to see Yamaha is keeping up with the updates
That guitar sounded dope
Great new sounds! Loving the new Nashville C3 but also bravo to the brilliant live set choices 😎 Thank youuuuu
That Nashville piano is also on the YC updates. And I love it. Such a fresh new sound!
0:58 Power Grand from the first MOTIF, also used in many Yamaha digital pianos, it is rare that that piano sound is still alive in the middle of 2020
same
Kudos to yamaha for including it! It's a staple in gospel music
@@mlewmisc And Latin Jazz
But it does oversound in my ear😂
New sounds are very great, thank you for this update.
Very good update.
I find the sounds of the new pianos very good and original.
Classical guitar and accordion are also excellent.
Thank you.
Perfeito, incrível, o melhor... Um dia vou ter um CP88!!!
CF3 the legendary sound of lifelong Yamaha keyboards 👍🏻❤️
I wish you would make yamaha CF4 or S6 piano sample. Those pianos sound great especially for r&b or jazz
awesome demo
Yamaha tem que investir mais nesses samples de piano mais rústicos, com leves defeitos de afinação como o U1, lançado na linha CP e agora esse C3 envelhecido.
Eles soam muito mais reais
Nice to see that manufacturers start to add character to their devices again. This is a good sign in times where everything in music production has become extremely sterile and is polished to death. Please consider to add a nice felt piano with character (like the spitfire ones) in CP and also in Montage/MODX if possible.
I second this 100%!
They did the thing!
Brilliant! Still missing a "tap tempo" function for the delay, tho.
:(
0:59 that’s the same sounds as the 2005-2008 Yamaha keyboards
u right, I felt that
@@ifr-ed just improvs!
I hear some Power Grand influence in that Live CF3🧐🤔😁😍 interesting
I was thinking the same thing man!
Second that!
X3
I’m waiting for my CP88 to arrive, this got me even more excited! 🙏🏽
You're going to love it! It's the best piano I've had so far!
How much is it.?
Sandy Garcia I got mine for $2,499, but included a heavy duty case and stand.
Mp11se > CP88 by far.
Ridiculous that they are in the same price bracket, when Kawai has an almost Grand Piano keyfeel built from scratch. CP doesn't have string resonance, nor the escapement and VRM of the cheaper p515 which is objectively a better unit from Yamaha themselves. Crazy really.
@@ErraticFaith But the P515 is far less durable.
Awesome sounds. Thank you for reminding me to update mine from 1.10 :) Great job. Keep up the good work. I really enjoyed. Regards/Rob
Lovely! Can’t wait to update. Seven minutes old!
those new sounds are great! wishing for metronome next time...
the acoustic guitar sound is not a joke!
yes, finally a demo with realistic guitar playing, notes which make sense on a guitar, increased realism, top sound as well !
All we need is a guitar strum/arpeggiator feature.
My wish for next CP- OS update : please put the Pf's Heart sound from YC61 into the CP it's a great layer with piano but the YC only has 5 octaves. Please Yamaha ...make waves 😉
now it has 88 keys yay
Perfeito! Otimo timbres de piano.
Yamaha guitars have always been dope- even back on the Motif XS.
Wow glad we got new guitars!! And a great accordion! I'm all here for the non-piano sounds for my video game music. Saxophones to rival the MX88 ones will finish me haha
Love my cp88 now if I could only go back to work with it 😞
I feel you! 😓
very beautiful
excellent,will upgrade it asap
Please take note Yamaha and CP88 buyer's. I had mine for just over a year and the key contacts began to play up. This means that when you play a note the same note will play again at maximum volume, scares the hell out of you. This is now happened again for the second time and will cost approximately £100 to repair. Apart from that I love this keyboard. Greetings from Bournemouth, UK.
Hi mate, please explain this in a more detailed way becuase i´m worried for QC issues in key action for this expensive board. Which is better between this and CP4?, and which did you prefer between Roland RD2000, Kawai MP7SE and this CP88?. I´m looking for the best key action and finger to sound connection in a portable slab. Thanks!.
@@ferdearmas8732 Hi there dude, as you know digital keyboards have contact strip's under each octave range of keys, and sometimes they will become dirty or wear out, when this happens the note or notes that are faulty will either play back again at a very loud volume, and as I said before it scares the shit out of you, and you become frightened to play thoes note. Then of course it needs to be repaired, now twice in eighteen months. Has cost me almost £200 although the shop has agreed to give me one more years warranty. I tried the Roland and the Nord when I purchased the Yamaha and found the Yamaha keybed to be more realistic to the touch. Apart from the problem it's a fantastic stage piano/keyboard. I hope this has been a little helpful to you. Thanks for your reply. ifalmuse.
@@ifalmuse6593 Thanks a lot my friend, your reply has been very helpful for me. But, please tell me, is reliable this Yamaha key action?, because CP88 is a very expensive keyboard. Are you tried the P515?, which key action did you prefer between both?. What do you think about key actions like: Roland FP10/30, Kawai ES110/8, Korg D1/Kronos, Casio PXS1000/5S?. Is really CP88 key action worth the price difference?. I´m really looking for the best key action and finger to sound connection in a portable slab, but i can´t try for myself.
I have this exact problem and have been trying to explain it to others for months! It's kind of intermittent, although it happens at the absolute worst times. It's only on a few keys around middle C. It started happening after about 9 months. It was still under warranty but because of the pandemic, I couldn't deal with it. Now that I know it's not just me, I will see about getting it repaired. A keyboard at this price point shouldn't have these problems. I bought this piano specifically for the keybed, which I find better than any others I've played (or could afford). On the bright side, at least it sounds like there is a fix for it. Thanks for the post!
@@DigitalManBlues What a shame mate, because these are very expensive keybeds like you said!..., are you tried Kawai MP7 and Roland RD2000?. What about these key actions for you?.
The live CF3 piano doesn't sound like CF3. Anyway other preset sounds good. And the guitar sample from the tyros 5 sounds great! How about adding drum kits?
Wow really good.thank you
Lindos timbres. Gostei muito do som de violão top de mais. Parabéns 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I love my CP73. And the updates so far have been wonderful. Would like to see an EP (RD) with less "bell" character in a future update instead of yet another bright acoustic piano, of which we have enough in my opinion...
This may be the wrong channel, but I feel compelled this viewing to bring it up. Is there any possibility that Yamaha could do what was done with the Rhodes piano line 13 years ago (as of 2020), a relaunch of the original CP line, combining Piezzo amplification with real strings and moving parts? There is a possibility that R&D could create an improved architecture with softer key touch, as well as incorporating the same type of midi implementation that went into the CP 70 M & CP 60.
plus one :-) oh, and lighter...
@@sudanjackson exactly. Carbon fibre?
It would be great if that could be done at the same time as including the same mechanical parts. How much of the weight of the original line had to do with the moving piano parts, and how much of it had to do with the chassis itself?
Un CP peut avoir un combo de 3 mélanges alors qu’un YC seulement 2 + orgue ?
Name of the song @0:59?
Sons maravilhosos
Man those mids are so warm.
Nashville C3 sounds great! Question... Is there a WAV audio player built in with volume control to play backing tracks for the solo/duo gigs?
sadly, no...but then again, most high-end stage pianos don't have this feature. Try the Roland FA08, JUNO DS 88, Roland VR730 (semi-weighted), or the MX88. But all of these are not as quick and easy for live settings (except the VR730 which has a similar workflow to the CP88/73 and the Nords)
I use an ipod (audio in) for my backing tracks.
There is the following input available...
INPUT [L/MONO]/[R] jacks/[GAIN] knob
These jacks allow you to connect an external audio devices and mix the output of that device with that of this instrument. Use the [GAIN] knob to adjust the volume balance with this instrument.
Currently, I use a Yamaha Genos to play WAV files from a USB drive. When doing a solo gig, I can see the files in front of me in groups of 10. I do more shows than just music... so I talk in between songs. It’s better to be looking at the instrument than it is to look over at an iPad/iPhone.
My church is looking for a keyboard so I don’t have to keep bringing my personal one. They don’t have a Genos budget. So audio in would work if I transfer my backing tracks to an iPad could work with the CP. I think the Yamaha P515 would give me USB playback.
Thanks for all the input!
Cool, but we want YC73 or YC76 :)
Ive forgotten how to actually update to the new firmware i dont see anything in the pdf file with this update
Are those sounds available for the YC88?
Super!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you add an electric piano to the ‘pianos’ section using advanced mode, does damper resonance happen when you turn on the damper resonance switch?
roland rd 2000 or Yamaha CP88 ?
Hi friends, P515 vs CP88..., is really worth to pay $1K more for CP88 over P515?... Thanks!...
They only have one video on a new update why
Did this add to the 57 sub sounds? Or replace some that were there already?
They're only adding at this point.
The link to download this update pls ?
Nord got'm all jumpin'
Sounds great but no organs, not even from it's cousin the YC? Seems that Yamaha has something about gig worthy organs. That being said the APs are amazing.
The YC organs are based on modeling technology which doesn’t currently exist on the CP line if I’m not mistaken. Perhaps for a CP2 !
Add a reface YC is a good and cheap option to get good organ sound.
So no additions or changes to the organs, which are in a word, shocking.
yeah, but this board never claimed to even want to be good at organs. Check out the YC61 for that. Maybe Yamaha will make a YC73 soon?
@@sudanjackson Or maybe A Yamaha YCP-88
Combining the CP and YC (and maybe also some synth/sample dsp parts of the montage/modx) in one instrument, like the Nord Stage 3
@@sudanjackson I agree mate, but the fact is that they DID include organs, and they are awful. I actually have a Hammond SK1-73, but there are occasions when it would be nice to have a useable patch when it's not worth setting up a second keyboard. I love my CP73. Unfortunately, the YC61 is a few years too late.
You have the YC88 if it bothers you that much. Cry less and engage the brain more.
@@ErraticFaith "Cry less and engage the brain more." That's an intelligent comment.
If you note, my comment was made late in 2020. YC Series released Jan 15, 2021.
Olá,, muito lindo esse STAGE piano ,, gostaria de saber como funciona a polifonia dele pois estou com planos de adquirir esse instrumento,,mas preciso saber essas especificações,,por gentileza,, obrigado,,!!
C‘mon Yamaha don‘t get lazy on us , the next update is long overdue. Please include the CF-Sound (CP5/CP4) and pleeeaaase the Acoustic Bass from the CP4, the one in the CP88 sucks big time.
Man, still no fix for the weak black keys issue on the CP-73?
C'mon, multiple owners have complained and Yamaha has denied this multiple times.
So, at least admit if it's a hardware issue, I'll pay for a new keybed.
Not cool, Yamaha.
What’s the issue?
No idea. I see this all over the forums and otherwise but strangely nobody expands on the details, aside from some old video which isn't exactly all that revealing either way.
Par contre, pour le "son guitare accoustique", il est plutôt bien fournis, ce clavier...
What is the name of the last song?
Sir if u have any used keyboard I am interested to buy....
Très bien... Mais je suis bassiste fou, pas pianiste sage.
