dont know if anyone cares but if you're bored like me during the covid times then you can watch pretty much all the new series on InstaFlixxer. I've been binge watching with my gf recently xD
I just bought my first Kia Optima EX and there is soooo much going on in the car while I'm driving that it boggles the mind. Hence the reason I'm watching RUclips video's to get a handle on all the tech in this car. Thanks for teaching me a few things. I will continue to look for video's on my car model so I can use it to it's fullest.
Hi Kathi, Sometimes we make videos based on questions from the RUclips comments, so if you think there's something that we should make a video on, feel free to let us know!
We are known for going into detail. There are a lot of videos online that go into a brief overview, but we try to go further. We also do LIVE videos every weekday where you could join us and ask any specific questions that you have. We usually spend about 30 minutes on these videos. If there's something you want to see on a vehicle, we'll be here to help.
This is a superb car with great styling and packed with value. Often overlooked is the advantage of an enormous fuel tank. It's 18.5 gallons, much larger than most any other mid-sized sedan. Accordingly, the range between fill-ups is in excess of 500 miles! I've had two Optimas so far, and will buy another in 2019.
I have the SXL Turbo and although it hasn't got 42mpg because I enjoy using the extra horses and torque to pass slower drivers, I got a nice 35.5mpg on my recent trip average that was about 670+ miles to and from combined. Easily over 600 mile range with only one half tank fill up on the way back just so I wouldn't be out of gas the next day.
Often times I see cars driving is rain or bad weather without their headlights on, a good feature would be, to have the headlights automatically come on when the wipers are turned on.
Great review. Wondering how it handles in snow. It appears to be very low to the ground so I'm wondering if it will scrape snow under the under carriage and get stuck i.e. getting out of your driveway waiting for your plow person. Thank you.
The Optima is lower to the ground than something like a Sportage. Keeping the car lower contributes to great fuel economy. The car is competitive with other cars in the segment when it comes to overall ground clearance. We have several customers that run this car with winter tires and love it in all weather. In my experience driving them in the snow, I don't find any issues.
I wanted to know if the headrests are comfortable or not? Because in the pictures, it seems like they are titled a little bit too forward for comfort. I'm planning on buying the EX but just wanted to make sure that the seats (especially the headrests) are comfortable. Has anyone had an issue with them?
Seat comfort, including headrests are highly personal. I haven't heard complaints about the headrests, they do have some adjustability to them, and often times seat comfort just comes down to getting everything at the right angle. I like to sit with the seatback at a fairly upright angle, which may make the headrest look like it's coming forward more than it would with other people. Also remember that the steering column can be adjusted by tilting and by telescoping it, usually a good salesperson can help you get comfortable by understanding how to move things around to find that sweet spot. No seat is perfect for everyone, but I've found that seats in the Kia range are usually quite comfortable for most. I hope that helps!
Thanks a lot for the reply. I did hear that Kia removed the front and back adjustments from the headrests and now they only go up and down. Do you know if I can tilt it to reduce the angle? The car description does mention that the headrests are "Manual w/Tilt". But, I'm not sure what that entirely means.
Some of our cars do have an adjustment that tilts the headrest forwards and back. The lower trim level that I just checked, does not have that adjustment. The best thing to do is to visit a dealer and see if the trim level that you're interested in has a seat that will work.
Love both of my KIA's. I got away from the sedans when I wanted more towing and space with my 2010 Borrego EX V8. Then I got the AWD Sportage in 2015. So my question is when clearing ice and snow from the back of that car, will the trunk open letting the snow into the trunk, or can that feature be turned off?
Great question. If you have the key in your pocket, or on your body when standing at the back of the car, the trunk will open, but the Smart Trunk feature can be turned off at anytime. So there are a few options for clearing snow. One, you can leave the key away from the very back of the car, (Clearing snow while standing beside the car will not activate the smart trunk) Two, leave the key in the driver's are while clearing snow, or three, turn off the feature so that it operates like a normal trunk, and won't open on it's own.
Slm superstar A salesman will always upsell, but when it comes to driving, you are the only person who can make that decision. I test drive cars waaay more than I should, and almost every car dealership is more than happy to help you into a car as quickly as possible.
The best place to get up to date pricing is on the manufacturers website. I don't put pricing on RUclips because these videos stay up for a long time (forever?) and pricing can change. If you're in Canada, check out www.kia.ca
The answer to your question may depend on the country that you're living in. In Canada where we film these, the Optima lineup can be viewed at www.kia.ca
having difficulty figuring out if its worth the additional 5k for this ex tech vs the ex trim. any advice? i hear the tech allows for remote start because of uvo, but i also hear panoramic sun roofs have issues with leaks and breaking.
We haven't had problems with leaking or breaking sunroofs at our dealer. Occasionally we have to lube the mechanism as part of a general maintenance, but I love panoramic roofs, so if you value that, then the EX Tech is the way to go. The UVO system is very impressive, and because it's tied to a cell phone app, it has the capability of adding features over time, so I expect that to get better and better. The Harmon Kardon Stereo system is the other major upgrade in the EX Tech, and it sounds fantastic. I'm also a fan of the ventilated seats on hot days. They keep me from sweating on the leather seats. It's always hard for someone else to tell you what the best car is for you, but if those feature have value for you, than the EX Tech makes the most sense. If you can do without those features, the EX might be the best value.
I bought my 2016 FE/LX (bare bones base trim) on July 4th 2016 and loved it. I loved it so much that I knew I was going to trade it in a get either a loaded EX or the SXL. Because of an accident the car was totaled. Now I have the SXL and love every single minute of it, I do not regret going back to the refreshed optima, friends and family still don't believe it's a "Kia".
Also, if you don't think it's worth the extra 5Gs, consider looking for a certified used one. A brand new SXL would cost around +$35,000 USD however, I found and snagged my fully loaded SXL Turbo for $23,700 w/ only 10,755 mi on the ODO with a clean title. 2 year old lease and the previous owner drove it conservatively. Saved +$11,000!!
The sunroof "issue" has happened to a miniscule number of Kia buyers. Rhe last vid I saw was a repeat from a previous vid he posted, and had 3 ppl claim to also have the problem...worldwide. Honestly, you have a higher chance of winning the lottery. One of the RUclips vids is of the Cadenza from 2014. That was a very early version of Kia's pano roof. My Cadenza is a 2014 with almost 105 000kms. Still good.
Which car model has auto hold for the brakes and electronic park. I cant seem to find what car has the feature where I don't need to keep my feet on the brake
If the Kia has an electronic parking brake, it will have the Auto Hold. Off the top of my head, certain trim lines of the Sportage, Sorento, Stinger, and Forte. The best way to be sure is to check the specs for an electronic parking brake.
I have 2007 Kia spectra and I've been thinking about upgrading since I have my vehicle played off years ago and looking into upgrading to a 2018 Kia, do you think it's worth the upgrade
I'm going to let you in on a little secret... the Spectra wasn't all that good of a car... If you're happy with it, you're going to absolutely LOVE any modern Kia!
@@cicada3312 I stay away from recommending certain trims for certain people. Everyone has different needs and wants, and I know that, at least at our dealership, we have fantastic salespeople who take the time to listen to what you require in a vehicle and they're excellent at making recommendations from there. If the car has UVO Intelligence in Canada, then it comes with a remote starter through that system. Otherwise we can usually equip our cars with remote start before delivery if you're interested in that feature.
