This reminds me of my grandma's story. She was born on 1927 so dalagita sya nung nameet nya yung isang sundalong Hapon. Being a beauty that she is dahil sa magiging mestiza since she's quarter Spanish, marami sa kanyang nanliligaw pero ang madalas nyang ikwento, yung Hapon na niligawan sya. Sabi nya, palagi syang hinahanap nung sundalo. May time pa nga daw na umakyat sya ng puno kasi talagang natakot sya tapos yung sundalo naman, medyo niyuyugyog yung puno. Lol. Matagal syang sinuyo nung Hapon. Binibigyan sya ng kung anu-ano tapos sinasabihan sya palagi ng "You and I are sweethearts." at di ko makakalimutan yung ngiti ng Lola ko nang kinukwento nya yan. Tho yung love story nila, nauwi sa trahedya. Last time nya daw na nakita yung Hapon, nagpaalam pa sakanya then, wala na. My grandma ended up marrying a guerilla force member.
The true story of Captain Mori is the story of Captain Yamazoe. He was a japanese officer who became friends with people from dulag, leyte. He ordered his men not to abuse the town's citizens. This story is inspired by it. The MMK story here is very touching.
I was thinking if this was based on a true story and if Captain Mori was a real person. Turns out he was based of Capt. Isao Yamazoe. I didn't know about that until you point it out.
There is one comment here claiming that the real Ambo was his Grandfather. Also Capt Yamazoe died in an ambush while capt Mori was deported back. There was also no child nor a mention that Capt Mori was loved by the villagers.
great real life story! I remember my own grandfather in San Pedro Laguna who had a similar experience. the Japanese assigned apparently weren’t really fond of war and would play with the kids in the fields so the war for the town was generally not felt. everyday, he would bring corn and vegetables to the Japanese soldiers and they would “print money” for him or would take him out to play bec they thought that he had Japanese ancestry due to his eyes. at one point, when the american planes were flying in the sky during the liberation, he and the other kids would joke with the Japanese soldiers in the fields that the Americans were coming to arrest them and the Japanese would just laugh at the kids. When they were about to leave, one of the officers decided to stay behind and marry the Filipina he was courting and a relative of my grandfather and well, the rest is history and he was a part of the family and his remains are in our family mausoleum. my grandmother though didnt have a similar good exp with Japanese soldiers since they were harsh in her town and her family joined the guerrillas.
This reminds me of My Grandfather. My Grand Aunt would always tell me that my Grandfather who was 8y/o at the time of the war, was befriended by a japanese soldier, who would then take him in the morning and return him at evening, with food from the japanese.
Banana Orange Peel my grandpa too. He said when he was young, a Japanese soldier would ask him to get pomelo from a tree. Then he would give my grandpa money and then sometimes would split the fruit in half and give it to him. :)
Japanese values their children and is affectionate towards kids talaga. Even to their own kids, gusto lang nila magbond, magusap vinavalue din kasi nila personal space ng iba, kahit nang anak nila, unlike satin na diretso bukas ng door ng room ng anak pag may kailangan, sa Japan (according sa experience ko) they knock on the door first then ask permission to come in, if di papayagan ng anak di sila papasok sa room. May (Ko no Hi - Day of Childrens, holiday) sila. They do cherish kids kasi mababa din birth rate nila.

Sobrang iyak ko dito. Magaling silang lahat especially Jiro. Pero nung nagkaisip ako and was able to browse through unbiased history myself its proven na we were all just victims of war because of colonial mentality and political motives.
According to him, mas ok yung mga officers. That "I have a wife...I have children...I want to go home." Shows that some Japanese soldiers don't like war. They just want to go home and be with their family again.
I have seen this 3 times already. It was the a great episode of MMK. I seldom watched MMK but I like the story. Friendship between two races and age gap.
Kahit ilang years pa paulit ulit manood ng episode nato yung iyak ko gnun pa din ehh..that friendship they build yung sobrang nkaka sarap ng pkiramdam..sayang lang naputol ang communication nila..😢😢best of friends sa gitna ng gyera.. salamat po MMK
I appreciate learning the history of the Philippines during WWII and I am sympathetic to all the innocent people who endure such pain and suffering amidst the Japanese colony.
And Mana brought me here 😊 I have a crush on a Japanese girl, at napaka polite nya, mahal pa nya ang Pinas at ang mga pinoy, sana nga palarin ako na mapa-ibig siya sa pagiging totoo ko at sincere..
Galing nya.... Di ko sinadya makita to kase nag sesearch lng ako ng old episode tapos timing sya pala yung dating sikat na childstar na nag benta sa pawn star... Grabe talaga idol na kita galing mong umiyak nakaka dala
Yung comfort women scene ng Pulang Araw is so similar dito s episode ng mmk n ito….Nasa comfort women chapter n kasi yung Pulang Araw (s Netflix and soon on gma7)

Just like what happened to my mom who was born in 1941, The japenese officer will borrow her from my grandma, and return in the afternoon with lots of candies , He said my mom reminds her of his infant daughter in Japan.
This was my parent's story during WW2. There was a Japanese captain who used to live in our house in the capital city of our province. I told them why they did you allow them to live in our house? My father's answer was, they might kill us if they did not allow him to live with us. He said he was a nice captain and told them that he had children too.My oldest sister and the second oldest was a small baby were the children at that time. He gave my oldest sister candies and chocolates all the time. He was very nice to my oldest sister. He never bothered them. My grandparents were living in the barrio and also had a house there. You have to walk more than a kilometer to reach that house from the street, and a lot of my cousins were hiding there because the Japanese were not able to find out that place. My grandparents house was a meeting place for the guerillas. He was supporting the resistance and gave them food. My grandparents must be good the people because nobody told the Japanese in that barrio, that they were supporting the guerilla movement. If they found out, They will kill my grandparents, my parents, older sisters, and my cousins. Imagine, a Japanese captain was living with my parents in the city, and my grandparents house was a meeting place for the resistance. As a matter of fact, my godfather was a captain of the resistance.
( watching at third time napaiyak parin ako 9-6-2020 Covid -19 Pandemic )

Seen this many times. Not all Japanese are bad during war. My father have a friend Japanese too before. He gave my father a banana and taught him Japanese words.
Yah right..... same with my grandpa too during his childhood, where some of the Japanese soldiers who where destined in our town even played games with them, teach them their basic skills, and even teach them how to count in Nihonggo......
This also happened to my inang back then during ww2 she said she was scared of the Japanese but they were friendly and taught her a little Japanese words
Yes our Lolo met a Japanese during the war and when it ended that japanese went back and gave Lolo a konica camera it was the first ever camera in our town too
@@pecmnhcmaster6883 yahright.....just look at what they have brought back in return after the war........ -innovative technologies -more efficient and modern transportation -more joint projects, specially in economies and science Among those
When my grandfather was still alive, he always told me stories about the Japanese who entered their town in Legazpi City. When he was young, his father was then the “cabesa de barangay”, so the japanese were always frequently visiting their home, at first they were afraid of them; together with his mother and elder siblings, they always hide in their makeshift foxhole underneath their house, but eventually their father made friends with them. Soon they’re not hiding anymore; playing traditional games with them, learning Japanese language, even ways of respects, they also play baseball, the town also celebrated the town fiesta together with the Japanese… So blessed my grandfather told me stories about this, stories to be treasured. Rest in peace lolo.

That "I have a wife...I have children...I want to go home." Shows that some Japanese soldiers don't like war. They just want to go home and be with their family again.
I miss jiro manio's superb acting skill.

I have seen this 3 times already. It was the a great episode of MMK. I seldom watched MMK but I like the story. Friendship between two races and age gap.
they should make movie of this...the story worth telling again on BIG SCREEN..
Yeah. Ganda ng story. Sana gawing movie.
I agree
This is really worth it as an Indie Film.
But wouldn't work out on Mainstream.
agreeeeee
MMK story would be enough. This is a masterpiece already and very nostalgic. They will just make the story worst.

I appreciate learning the history of the Philippines during WWII and I am sympathetic to all the innocent people who endure such pain and suffering amidst the Japanese colony.

Remembered this film because of Fumiya of PBB. Japanese are really passionate when it comes to friendship. 😍
Pauline Peñafiel I found a Japanese freind from a online game he’s a good freind
And Mana brought me here 😊 I have a crush on a Japanese girl, at napaka polite nya, mahal pa nya ang Pinas at ang mga pinoy, sana nga palarin ako na mapa-ibig siya sa pagiging totoo ko at sincere..

First time q napanood ..nov.2020..
A very touching story😇 ang dami qng iyak
this story reminds me of my great great grandparents, si lolo ay japanese while my lola is pure filipina. they fell in love and had children. nagpalit sila ng last name dahil natakot sila sa maaaring gawin ng mga pinoy once malaman nilang japanese si lolo at sinunog birth cert at photos nila. ayon nalaman naming pwede pala kami makapunta ng japan (since we're japanese descendants) kaso nahirapan kaming iprove (sa government? or court?) na we're descendants since sinunog birth cert nila lolo and wala rin photos. great grandfather ko lang na birth cert ang meron kaso hindi ata enough. till now gustong gusto ko tuwing nagkukwento ang lola ko tungkol sa grandparents at parents niya at gustong gustong kong pinapakealaman yung mga papeles ng mga great grandparents namin na may family tree (every generation andun) , and some photos. dream ko makapunta sa Japan sa lugar mismo kung saan nakatira dati great great lolo ko 😊
It is a beautiful story😍
This year's 2019 and I'm still watching 😁

Huhuhu. Very touching.
Your parents must be very lucky to meet a kind japanese during the ww2.
But whos Captain Mori?
My grandpa is a Japanese imperial army soldier

Seen this many times. Not all Japanese are bad during war. My father have a friend Japanese too before. He gave my father a banana and taught him Japanese words.
Yah right..... same with my grandpa too during his childhood, where some of the Japanese soldiers who where destined in our town even played games with them, teach them their basic skills, and even teach them how to count in Nihonggo......
This also happened to my inang back then during ww2 she said she was scared of the Japanese but they were friendly and taught her a little Japanese words

IT REALLY TOUCHES MY HEART.

wahh. Nakita ko rin. Ito ung dko malimutan kahit nung bata pa ako. 💜💜
