Probably one of the best videos I've ever seen for auto repair. Sue calls out socket sizes and torque specs like a pro that she is. Huge one stop video. Thank you very much!!
I would like to thank the mechanic for the great step by step video. I purchased the axle from A1 auto and just swapped it out this morning and it only took me about a hour and a half, no time wasted looking for tools because we have been told everything we need. The parts are good so far I only drove about 60 miles on the new part so anything happens Ill update but everything went flawless and I didnt have to remove the caliper but I followed all the other instructions to the T. THANK YOU
You can see I commented 3 years ago because this video helped me replace the passenger side CV axle on my 2005 Mazda 6, which is still in the family. Well, I came back to this video once more because I had to replace the CV axle on my 2008 Mazda 6. Yes, I have 2 Mazda 6 cars from this time frame. Actually, I also have a 2014 Mazda 6 and a 2010 Mazda 3. What can I say? I love Mazdas. This is a pretty great video. It pretty much covers it. A word of advice: Go to harbor Freight if you need to and get one of their 25" 1/2 drive breaker bars. You are gonna need it to bust that 32mm Center axle nut loose. I had to hammer pretty hard on the new cv shaft to get it to get on there past that clip ring thingy. I had to use a grinder wheel to clean up the axle afterward in order to get the new 32 mm center nut on there. hammering on the shaft at the end cause it to mush and flare out a little bit and the nut wouldnt go on clean. No big deal. Other than that it goes exactly as her video says. I had to remove the caliper, and I had to remove the fork bolt, just as she did.
Great video, Sue! Keep up the good work. I'm getting old and can't see as good as I used to. Your videos help me know what to look for rather than search around endlessly with reading glasses and a flashlight.
This was by far the best video I've ever seen on the subject of CV axle r and r or any other auto repair. Thanks AA AUTO FOR THE TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS. Informative and well done.
Wow. Thanks for the video. I've never attempted anything like this before and got the job done in a couple of hours. Thanks for making this available and keep up the awesome work!

Hey Rob, did the cv assembly swap help get rid of a high pitched whinney noise from under the car as well ?? I have the same year and make 2005 mazda 6
But what if you can't get the axle out of the knuckle. And have to take off the whole thing? And the axle won't fit into the extension shaft because the ring doesn't fit back flush in the spline its connecting too on the car. Is there a tool to get the retention ring back on the shaft?
I will say just one thing. The bolt that connects the lower control arm to the strut fork be prepared to replace it. I know this video is a few years old 11/6/2021 I’ve been doing both sides and both the little stops just bent over while loosing the 15mm bolt.
Hello, Does your CV-Axles fit European models aswell? I need new front axles, but can't find any retailers for it. I have a Mazda 6 GG, Sedan - 2003 model.
Although same "generation", are axels same for both 2005 & 2006 models? I know the front brake rotors, calipers & pads are different because the 05 front rotors are 3/4" smaller in diameter than the 06....
Excellent video thank you, Really appreciate the heads up about the pressed in lower. I was definitely put myself in a bind, Thank you for saving the day.
Nice job explaining the process. I'm wondering why i see a bunch of shiney new parts with no explanation as to why they were replaced. I. E Upper and lower control arms and wishbone.
Can the 2006 Mazda 6 CV Axle fit onto the 2006 Mazdaspeed 6? How much HP is too much for the mazda 6 CV axle? My boot ruptured on the passenger side and now I have to find a replacement. Mazda 6 is 140$ for a pair, Mazdaspeed 6 is 750$ for a pair, what a big difference!
Great video! And awesome job! I just have one question I saw that the new axle doesn't have that piece in the he middle of the axle for the wishbone? Does that matter? Thank you for your help and knowledge!👍
@13:07, how far does the CV go onto the cross shaft, until the shield hits the bearing? Mine doesnt go that far and seems to slide 1-4mm back and forth?
I’m doing this job on my 05 Mazda 6 S hatchback. When I go to put the new one on I notice the splines on the end going into the transmission don’t line up with the splines on the other side of that little retainer clip, so I can’t get the new one to go in. What do I do?
Very nice video. Easy to follow. I'm trying to figure out what part my 08 mazda6 needs. I can only see it though. Just don't know what to call it to search for. If you guys have a video on it though. I'll probably by it from you guys even if it cost less elsewhere. The video makes it worth it
so you can fit a hammer up in there to knock out the inner CV case but I have exhaust all in my way. and there's a cover that's also in my way. either you didn't show a whole exhaust removal or you have the exact model with diferent exhaust setup than me cuz idk how I'm gonna manage to get that off the inner splines
I love her she is really good, very Professional,Way Of Explaining is so clear, helpful Very Good I'm Always Checking with you Guys,Awesome Videos Best Ones. subscribed
I looked In other videos you should never tighten with the torque wrench while the car is up, it should be when it is already on the ground. Because the arm control is damaged again. I want to know if it's true
Sue you do a fabulous job on these videos!!! My 2007 Mazda 6 has a drumming/rotational noise coming from the right front. At first I thought it was coming from the outer bearing, but now I'm thinking it might be coming from the centre bearing, on the axle extension. Will you be making a video on how to RR the extension portion? Do you have any tips on how determine which bearing might be causing the noise? It does not appear that you list the extension portion for sale, are they available? Thank you very much!
+Yuk Tuk Thank you for watching! We currently do not have an auto repair video that covers this particular repair. Omg I separated to 2 lower ball joints I don’t know y I’m removing the cv shaft to get to the alternator what do I need to press it back in is ther a tool from Napa that I can buy wish I seen this video earlier
Im currently doing this right now. Driverside was cake but for some reason I CAN NOT get the upper control arm to bolt back on it's like the axle is stopping me. There's a whole 3 inch gap or more and it's not budging
+James Goodman Thanks for watching! It can depend on the manufacturer, but they will all use an acceptable CV grease to insure they work properly! 1aauto.com
+Jorge Monsalve It may be a different procedure on your application. We currently do not have an auto repair video for this particular year, make and model. Thank you for asking. 1aauto.com

Still love your video's and they are very usefull..But ive got 2 questions. 1:Why does the old axle have some kind of rubber ring mounted in the middle? And 2: Can you guys please make a video of how to replace a parking brake cable? Didnt find much about it on the internet. Keep up the good work and many thanks from the Netherlands. 2 thumbs up!!!
+Miguel Rios Thank you! We love empowering our customers and showing how to perform DIY auto repairs with our high-quality auto parts. 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
Yeah it's easy with the car up in the air, try that job with a jack on the floor with snow melting all around you and pants and all getting wet and smelling like grease all uncomfortable and wet because of the snow and what not. And then on top of that the auto part store give you an after market part that won't go all the way in the transmission and its leaking fluid.
Great Video. The recording and lighting and zooming is very good. But i wish the mechanic would use some power tools to speed up the video . Using that long breaker bar to loosen the axle nut was quite dangerous b/c it was too close to the body and may scratch the paint. An air impact is better.
this wouldve been a good video if you didnt loosen everything first n then tell us to take the caliper off now im stuck with everything lose and no leverage to take off the caliper

yes? she does not say is AUTOMATIC or MANUAL? This is the FIRST thing she should have said because is not the same CV axle!

Do you guys have the intermediate shaft part number that the cv axle connects too?

+James Goodman Thanks for watching! It can depend on the manufacturer, but they will all use an acceptable CV grease to insure they work properly! 1aauto.com
Why was no grease added to the cv axle?
scott devlin is it recommended to put some grease on the splines?

+Jorge Monsalve It may be a different procedure on your application. We currently do not have an auto repair video for this particular year, make and model. Thank you for asking. 1aauto.com
Is that center shaft supposed to move a lot?!?!?!
Wait so its 220 ft of torque to take the part out? I have the air gun and its max is 68 ft of torque.
Mine is stuck in the diff. and I've been unable to pull it out no matter how much pressure I put on the prybar that I'm using.
You are the best Sue
How do I know if I have the model that's has to be pressed on and off mines a 2003

Great video! Is the car a 2.3L or 3.0L. I noticed that there is no exhaust pipe under the CV like on my 3.0L
Tom Roche 2.3L because the 3.0L comes with a spoiler
this is definitely the 4 cyl model. Single exhaust pipe right around the 7:15 mark
Same fit for a 1995 mazda protege! Good job on the videi!
