Awesome first impression. I got this unit myself out the gate and have 0 regrets, I'll keep this board for years to come

Having played this in G.C. this thing is fucking STUNNING to me! Bc i get my itch with having 3 diff Junos in my hands AND various Roland synth engines as well, plus the new X feature. I mean...no brainer. The possibilities i can do with this, i instantly can cook up like 20 diff melodies with 5 patches. Thats amazing! Roland really out did themselves with this.

I did SO many sessions with the Juno 106. The first person I worked with who owned one was Daddy-O from Stetsasonic. Heroduced Top Billin, the drum sample used in Real Love by Mary as well as the actual Real Love Remix which I played on. The second person was DJ Ron G. Produced tracks for Jennifer Lopez, Michael Jackson and B2K all of which I played on. That synth had the sickest basses, leads, pads and brass. Sure you could use other things for those other parts, but that's a solid synth. I think I'm gonna grab the Jupiter XM because of the form factor. Great video as always, bro. This keyboard is amazing

One thing on the oscillators heating up. I did a session with a actual Model D at Quad (yes, THAT Quad and it was maybe a week before you know what happened) and I had to retune it every 5 or 10 minutes. I was grateful when we used the Studio Electronics SE-1. Stayed in tune for the whole session

    Thanks for the review Dillio.
I agree with you on the sound, I had my studio headphones on and when you turned up the sub on the OSC, dammnn it sounded phat and warm!

IMO The most underrated synth out there right now! I have to say after owning this for a year it is sooo much more than the specs on the page or sounds on a youtube video. Once you actually play this instrument it is amazing, so versatile, so musical to play, and so inspiring (including the amazing vocoder)! For those that think it's a VST in a box, no way, try this synth and you'll release it's a special instrument. I sold my Nord Wave 2 and my Prophet X and kept the Juno X! My only criticism is that you have to use a lot of pressure for the aftertouch to respond.

Too bad Roland are so greedy expecting you to buy the dongle for a hundred quid, after splashing out £1800 for the keyboard, then having to subscribe to them for the dongle add-ons at a hundred quid every year (or else it stops working, until you re-subscribe!!!). I almost bought one of these in January; until I found that out. So I bought a synthe from their main competitor instead..... which has 'FREE PLUGINS'!!!

@glenc3249 if you have a dongle, can that be used on multiple units,i.e. system 8, jupiter x, and juno x. Or , does each synth require its own registration/ its own dongle..

The brilliance of iconic synths like Juno are in the relatively simple voice architecture, the sounds resulting from that architecture and component selection, and the immediacy of the interface. For me personally in my situation the biggest drawback is the availability and cost of soft synths (which is all this really is) which sound as great as this. For $400 you get one of those plus the sound force controller for the interface which is a BIG part of the magic that most VSTs do NOT have. Either way you get these great sounds.

Outstanding video, demo and walk-through, getting closer to getting this keyboard, if Yamaha doesn’t come out with the replacement for the montage

I am lucky to own many Synths like UDO, Sequential, Yamaha, Korg, and I own a Deepmind 12, have to say the Deepmind 12 is an amazing Synthesizer, not even mention the price even more Amazing, great video, Thank you for sharing.

Good vid. I think Roland is finally making people forget about true analog. The digital features were always there but just didn’t have that analog quality.

I’ve had this synth for about a year and once I got used to the interface, it’s really intuitive and nice for performances. The one thing I can’t figure out is how to switch scenes without the arp stopping. The way it’s laid out, a song might need several scenes for changes, but if I want to switch scenes, I have the stop the arp and hit play again on another scene. Trying to get around that, though. Otherwise, I love this thing so much

Great for live use, but it doesn’t have the vibe or sound of a vintage Juno if you’re more interested in production.
Although maybe it could be useful for production if you want that bright, clear modern digital sound, like EDM, trappy hip hop and pop tik tok jams, modern synth wave, etc?

Yea it should have a screen like a Fantom 6,7 and 8. How is the polyphony on this board? If you were to make a choice, which board would you buy, the Juno X or the Fantom?

Funny thing, I will buy a Juno X and sell my Deepmind for the same reason. To much work to get a warm bride lowend. In the studio it works but live my Deepmind is to far behind the sound of my Moog or my Arp Odyssey.

Can you please provide me advise on the following:
How do I setup the arpeggios on a Juno-X, so that they play independent from each other other multiple keyboard splits? I tried to setup keyboard ranges for each parts, but no matter what I do the arp's do not play independent. Play an arp on one split and it affects the arps on other split. It looks like the arps cannot be separated and are triggered by the entire keyboard, despite the key ranges.
    Thank you in advance.

The Deepmind can not not compete against a Juno X. That’s like racing a Dodge Demon against a Mazda Miata. The Miata would never catch up. Completely different Monster. Levels 📈

The tiny screen is a pain along with the convoluted system. Things that you think should be simple aren’t. The manual is awful. If trying to integrate into an asio based system like Cubase it’s a pig.

We all know how hands on The original Juno-60 is. You just turn it on and easily find the sound you want. So much fun!
Do you feel the Juno-X has a steep learning curve? Is it easy to get going even if you don't have much knowledge about synths? I feel that meny diving kills the creativity.
Do you feel the drums on a Juno-X can replace a drum machine?

    • @dilliot2k
      @dilliot2k  Год назад +2

When you approach it like a Juno-60 it will work just like that, however to get that clear pallet to work with does take some steps.
It's easy to get going but really deep .
I don't think the Juno-X can replace a drum machine but I do have a bias to an MPC workflow.

That's a basic car that will cause you problems and cost a lot more long term. 2k is the new price but S/H lets say 1500, its well worth that.
