In terms of reliability M57 (prelci 35d - 2007 - 2010) is much better than N57 (LCI 2010-2013). M57N2 in those X5s are quite the same construction as the old M57 from e.g. E39 (only difference is engine's block is made of aluminum in X5 and injectors are piezoelectric). Timing chains are in front and are quite good. M57 is known for being the best diesel ever made by bmw. In terms of accelerations there is a huge gap due to ZF8HP gearbox mounted in LCI models. Both gearboxes are strong and reliable. Keep in mind that the maintenance costs in each of X5 are quite high not only because of engine :) Also it's good to mention that the rear LCI lamps are cheap (and visually it's hard to tell the differences besides the LED lamps between pre-lci and LCI models). There are companies making LED rings in pre-lci front lamps. So in low cost you can have visually an lifted version with good old engine inside of it.
@@ecumapchiptuning2562 most of it cant do it just with ecu tune, they add 30-40hp but 70hp is very good improvement for ecu tune. Btw what do you think can e70 with this tune beat f10 535d stock?
which year would you recommend buying a used 35d/40d? Which year to absolutely avoid?

@@Nayakazuyo I can tell a little secret here. U can have lci e70 with m57 motor and ZF8HP :). Only in the US market they don't put n57 in e70 at all..
@@gerokostadinov4355no you can’t in US it has 6HP28 unless you do the swap never was M57 with 8HP so you’ll need adaptor for the bell housing.
Is it possible to make remap, with egr off, but DPF on!?
Yes
Where i can do this upgrade?
Pretty much every chiptuning company can do this.

Did you just got that results from ecu tune?
