Growing Papaya Trees from Seeds, Days 103-152

- My papaya seedlings are coming along nicely. I sprayed imidacloprid pesticide and myclobutanil fungicide pre-emptively to protect my young seedlings from future complications. Spraying fungicide really removed the brakes on growth for my pomegranate seedling, so I figured there may be a lot of benefit to be derived from doing the same for my papaya seedlings, due to their high susceptibility to fungal infections, at least in the beginning phase. The stem thickness of this species is a wonder to behold: papaya trees have no problems growing upright and do not flop all over the place like many other fruit-bearing "trees." I started watering the backup pot with distilled water only to avoid salting the sand the clay soil over time. The main pot seedling is more advanced in its development than the backup seedling, but the difference is not yet big due to the slow growing nature of this species.
I love your videos. I know they are probably a lot of work so thank you for all your hard work!
your doing so well with papaya that its actually funny to me lol i cant beleive they still have all there leaves
If has a very big stem
It took a lot more days or months to grow
Ye defo
hi! I'm back after 3 months or so, remember when I used to comment on your avocado videos? also happy 2021!!
I have two plants of papaya. Germinating the seeds is easy, but they seem to dye easily tafter some months.
Germinating isn't that easy either. The seedlings damp off easily in the first few days. At what size have yours been dying?
To me; i think that Papaya died at 5 months
Mine died at Two months
My papaya is a lot bigger than that tiny one it growed flowers
They look great! When will the next mango update be?
Not for a long time. The new leaves grew and turned green, then a lot of the old leaves got burned even in the mild winter morning sun. I'll have to see what lighting works best for it and wait for a new set of leaves to grow before I post another episode.
@@TheMelvinWei *Do you have any trouble with pigeons on your balcony?*
It'd be cool to see you try out one of those tree grow kits like a bristle one pine or giant sequoia. Just picked mine up over Christmas and I'm letting them chill in the fridge
He is literally washing those fruit trees 😅😂🤣
YAYYYYY FINALLY!!! im growing payaya, all my plants have been infected with fungus gnats, any solutions?
Spray with neem oil and a mix of a tiny bit of dish soap and water every few days
You'll have to repot everything in inorganic growing mediums like sand, silt, and clay so their larvae have nothing to feed on. Or you can put imidacloprid pellets in all your pots.
You are a plant whisperer! I'm always wondering what new one you're going to try.
Good stuff
Thanks Pam! Hope you are feeling well.
Me too
@@TheMelvinWei Much better and back at work now, though the hospital is now overwhelmed with COVID patients and short of staff who are also ill. We'll get through it. I'm just glad I wasn't severely affected. Even in our little community, we are now seeing COVID deaths. Scary stuff.
I saw your Honeydew series now im watching this infront of my little Honeydew.
I am waiting anxiously for a pomegranate update
More days than that
Mine got eaten from sciarid gnats, but i now declared war to them and they seem to understand. More papayas are growing.
pls make videos more often
where i live its 2:08
You should try using sugar water as fertilizer for your mango not on the leaves but in the soil I've seen it done before hope you try it
Lemon update?
Wrong soil texture....that reason for small size at 109days
The leaves curl is a reaction to the chemical. Try to use a bit less.
3 meses y en ese tamaño ??? Aquí en Perú en 3 meses , llega a medir 2 metros un papayo
Beware of genetically modified seeds from Hawaiian papayas. You want to make sure you avoid them, and use non-gmo, organic seeds instead.
