    You can make a tea from the leaves or juice them. They have a lot of health benefits.

    It is a beautiful guava plant. I am growing 2 guava plants from seed and they are starting to flower now (about 2 years old). The way the bark peels off is normal for guavas.

    Good job. Those plants look very happy! I'm surprised to find your channel. I've also got a hydroponic guava tree and hydroponic coffee plant, growing indoors in Alaska. The guava is 2.5 years old and just making it's first flowers. I've also got a hydroponic fig plant, just about one year old and fruiting now. Both the coffee and guava were started from seed. I hope your guava gifts you with flowers soon; it really is a robust looking plant. Good luck!

    That is a very nice tree. You gave it quite a haircut. All your other plants started to appear as you trimmed this one. I love when bark peels like that.

    My grandfather had a guava orchard in Puerto Rico. That smell is burned into my memory. You're giving me hope here, man. I'm thinking I may just attempt the same. Have you considered giving your tree company? Having other guavas growing in proximity may encourage it to flower - that's just a guess. I don't think it could fruit without the cyclic effect of outdoor life in it's own climate, to really stimulate a reproductive cycle.

    The flower’s do smell beautiful, I’m growing them in Melbourne Australia and we get cool winter’s as well. Not as cold as your’s. Mine flowered pretty fast and they fruit in winter. Feed them lots of seaweed as it helps the plant get strong.

    I think if you give it more potassium feed it may start to flower. Here in the UK I know a lady has a seed grown 3 year old Psidium Guava that flowered this year. She used a good fertiliser to encourage flowering its in a pot.

    Heavy pruning will make it have a thicker branches and flower fruits grow on new growth...

  • @danielbetancourt1794
    @danielbetancourt1794 Год назад

    Long branches, you can cut the tips every 4-5 leafs and it will grow branches and every branch tips will flower and give fruit, instead of having one long branch you will only get fruit on the end of the branch. Practice notching also to get new growth where there are bare leaf nodes, you can look that up on RUclips also

    ...wonderful growth...sometimes we like plants just because too...you will always have this tree in your garden...AND ... you started it from seed...really cool...yes a cutting would give exact fruit...but like you said...you just like the plant...this Guava may not yet be old enough to produce fruit...needs heat too...still a very happy plant ...is there an air stone in the barrel ?...next move for the tree may be a 55 gallon drum..still in water..as it likes current growing conditions...imo...

    • @ChristopherBrandsdal
      @ChristopherBrandsdal  4 года назад +2

      For sure! I think I might get flowers in five years or so if it survives here. Yeah, eather that or soil. I might try a larger barrel and see how far I can take it. :-)

  • @KODArunner
    @KODArunner 4 года назад

    Christopher, you might think about re-potting your Guava into a pot that is 3 - 4 times larger in volume, to give its roots more room to expand. Other than that, you have done a fantastic job growing this beautiful plant/tree!

    • @ChristopherBrandsdal
      @ChristopherBrandsdal  4 года назад

      The roots are not a huge issue yet, but they will be soon. I think I might move it back to soil. We will see. Thanks! :-)

      ...wonder if google can show you full grown natural root system for size...usually max root system is equal to mature tree height.. when you Earth plant the tree you will also loose control over tree size too...it might just get too big for the space...

  • @garycard1456
    @garycard1456 4 года назад

    Why is it that root rot can occur in composts, but you are managing to grow an evidently very healthy guava hydroponically? Is it because you are supplying oxygen to the water at all times by means of an aquarium pump, plastic tubing and an aquarium air stone? Oh, and how are doing progressing with the 'Spider Farmer'? Is it any good? Do you operate a humidifier in your grow room to maintain humidity? Since you live in the rather cold Norway, I am sure you use central heating in your grow room. Central heating tends to dry out the air, which is bad for plants, especially tropical ones.

    Hi, Chris - your growing technique is awesome - coming from Zimbabwe, my background is sub-Saharan tropic style plants and now living in The Netherlands, I am so inspired o
    your triumphs!!! You truly rock and give inspiration throughout! Our guava trees in Zim grew quite small - no more than about 10 to 15 feet and their scent was also awesome - my mum gave me a recipe for guava cake - a simple sponge with a guava icing but oh so delicious with coffee! If your babies fruit and you fancy the recipe then let me know - Pleez keep up the magic as it is great! God Bless XxxX
