      I never used any of the gimmicky plastic guns, and sure Killzone 3 isn't a light gun game, but I too enjoyed playing the heck out of single and multiplayer with the Move controller. The Move and the Wii Remote were great for shooters, aiming is better than with analog sticks. It's a shame that the industry has abandoned systems like these and instead throws inaccurate gryo slop that constantly needs recalibration and feels super slow and laggy at us instead.

    So, fun fact about The Shoot. I worked with a dev from that game and Sony was super into it. Then about half way through dev Sony changed the person who was in contact with the dev team and basically told them to stop working on gameplay and make it looks better. At that point Sony turned around to the dev team and asked what the hell they are doing, why are they not focusing on gameplay? That basically put the writing on the wall for the team and they got shutdown not long after releasing the game. Because of one idiot who was trying to make a name for themselves a whole dev team got shutdown.

    • @teneesh3376
      @teneesh3376 Месяц назад +4

      Well even that has its own issues. The white flashing isn't great for epilepsy. And sometimes you can't shoot the very edge of the screen

  • @rotallyPumpered
    @rotallyPumpered Месяц назад +3

    The difference is when you use a traditional CRT setup, you're actively aiming and shooting targets. With something like the Wii or PS Move, it doesn't know how big your TV is or how far you are from it, so it's acting like a mouse pointer on a pivot. You're not aiming, but tilting the cursor into the correct position. I think these games are good alternatives for those who don't have access to a CRT, but they're much less tactile and satisfying.

    • @kamen226
      @kamen226 Месяц назад +2

      you'd be surprised how accurate the Wii can be for games that let you calibrate the pointer. Heck, even the arcades switched to IR based tracking like the Wii for their CRT lightgun games due to how accurate they can be, and how they don't need to rely on the bright white flash that CRT guns need for tracking.
      The move probably is worse than CRT guns though. Like you technically can calibrate it to be accurate enough to aim down the sights just like a CRT gun or Wii remote, but its a PITA to get that to work properly. I swear it feels like the move relies on gyro for its tracking at least 50% of the time with how wildly off the aiming can be

  • @Dark_Jaguar

    Think of it this way. It's kind of hard to eat a duck filled with loose buckshot, unless you've got a spittoon and a dentist handy. The last time I played a game involving trying to get myself in with a group of strange hunters, they kept wanting me to show up to their lodge during a full moon, and then I got bit by a wolf and well... turns out the lodge full of german hunters going on and on about "returning humanity to nature" were actually werewolves.
    I remember playing one of those Mad Dog McCree games back when I was a kid. I remember the display being absolutely gigantic and dominating that floor of the arcade, thanks to it's use of a projection screen.
    I'm with you on the "feel" of PS3 era shooters, because it's just far harder to "aim" down the gun sights when the gun isn't actually looking for anything on screen, just relative position due to light sensors. Namco did the best job compromising on that to make it closer to "iron sights" than any other example, but the arcade machines are really the only way to get true "aim down the sights" accuracy like the old days.

    I love lightgun games and went in on the PS Move as well. I felt it was really poorly designed because ALL of the face buttons were on the top in the front. So using the gun case (which has the better trigger), it was really jarring having to hold the front button to stand and duck in TC4.
    The Sharpshooter while pretty good also has a really tight trigger making rapid firing on games like Time Crisis 4 really tiring. That and as you had mentioned, it's too unwieldly.
    As for the Umbrella Chronicles and the Dead Space Extraction games, i personally enjoyed them on the Wii. The wii zapper, while looking stupid, is really light and just fits well with the controls.
    The wii also has the nerf blaster which has an excellent trigger and is great for Wii shooters (though the grip may be too small for some)

    On fps like Goldeye-notN64Golden Eye, and Killzone 2 and I think 3 with move controls. Aiming is fine in those games, though as noted not suited for this video due to being just FPS. But they've got massive problems in actions. BIOSHOCK Infinite is the only one that I've played where the motions I've needed to be doing isn't insane.
    Remember, the aiming is how you turn in those games, so if you need to twist the remote for a melee or quickkill in those, guess what? You're now looking at the sky or the ground. Great for aiming, bad for everything else.
    I really wish they'd just made the first move controller with a analog stick, aiming with motion, viewing with the stick, movement with the navigational controller's analog stick. That would've been the combo for this tech.

    I'm all about the PS3, Move, and the majority of it's games. I still use it exclusively to this day with certain genres. For instance, I have no interest in sports games on any system or computer other than games on the PS3 with the Move controllers. It's just not enjoyable for me to sit on a couch with a controller and play Golf, Tennis, Bowling, Shooting, etc. It's so much more fun playing them using the Move. Obviously, the Wii is what started this type of experience but, the PS3's games are more realistic and just better, IMHO. The available Shooting games using the Move with a gun accessory are a lot of fun. I wish there were more available or even better, it would have been amazing if you can use the Move with any game. I don't understand why that couldn't be done with some kind of overlay built into the PS3. Anyway, the Move controller died because gamers are lazy people and only want to do their gaming on a couch or in a chair. It's really a shame. I'm a fat guy and I'll take the Move over a gamepad any day. I was really upset (and still am) when new Move games stopped being released. The same thing is happening with VR. Gamers are lazy and don't want to break a sweat in any way... It's lame.

    "Time Crisis 4 Arcade" and "Razing Storm" are nearly impossible to control comfortably with any peripheral. The shooting attachment barely works, as you constantly need to reach for the buttons, and none of the developers thought of allowing a second controller in the other hand to manage cover and the sharpshooter is too heavy and even there the cover button is awkward to reach. Plus, without a crosshair, the Move controller is unfortunately too imprecise-especially if you're aiming for high scores and combos.

      They reversed course on that. You have to add funds to your Playstation account on the web or on a PS4/PS5 first. Then sign into your PS3 and the funds will be there, then you can buy it from the store. A total pain, but it works. I did it earlier this year for House of the Dead 3, 4, and the two Resident Evil shooters. Get them right away. They could be removed or the whole store could go away since they threatened it before.

    4:10 - Dude, you have NO RIGHT calling something obnoxious when YOU always had to put in those God dang sound effects an OBNOXIOUS amount of times for such a long time.

    Sponsored videos. Maybe people should be thanking Factor for the uploads - given the several years there, where uploads on this channel where scarce.
    This channel was not a priority as it was before until accepted sponsorships twisted arms. No greater motivation than money.
    I however find these lack the same spirit of the past content that was generated from excitement and a bucket list of inspired work that must be eventually scratched.
    The fallout of AdSense apocalypse REALLY has sapped the magic from many these channels. Take a chunk of the money away and it suddenly becomes sponsored content and paint by numbers uploads...
    I feel like I'm watching well scripted prisoners coerced into making halfhearted video essays about the 'excitement' of making license plates for Oklahoma State Penitentiary. Same energy, but better subject matter.
    So thank you Factor? Viture? BenQ? RetroTink? 8Bit Mods? Patreon? Live a stream Donations? Or whomever else.

    You should consider making a video on modern lightguns. Specifically, you could focus on Sinden, Gun4IR and Retro Shooter.
