Great video Ruan - thank you. As a 65 year old woman I’m always looking for a dress that is stylish but suits my more mature figure and doesn’t make me look like I’m trying to be a teenager in an old body lol. i recently made the French Poetry Pleiades (lengthened quite a bit) and I like how it is quite shapely in the chest area but skims over the ole mum tum. Next for me is the Rita I think. Lovely dress. Hope you had a good holiday💕🇨🇦

Ruan, your Donny shirt that you are wearing is absolutely gorgeous and I love the fabric. The dresses that you would like to make are all wonderful and there are a few that I will also be making this summer. The Haut Vol Dress and the Claudia Dress are both excellent dresses for women that are a bit bigger around their bottom which include me. I love your channel and enjoy watching you and when you are with your Sewl Sister it is a real treat to see you all together. Thank you for showing us your favorite dress patterns and the ones you would like to make. Take care, have a good holiday and be safe.😀❤

I haven't made any of these dresses, but I definitely fancy trying the Shelby, I think its princess silhouette that skims over the hips would work well for my shape.
You may not have thought about it, but I was very pleasantly surprised at how nice the TATB Lotta came out - I used an enzyme washed cotton in a deep purple colour, and it is actually very elegant. I did use wider elastic at the waist for a more defined look, and lengthened the skirt to a midaxi length. It would be gorgeous in a linen, I feel... Thanks for a very enjoyable video, Ruan 🙏

Ruan, again this was such a fun vlog. Have a lovely holiday. Your talk of the Kielo reminded me that I bought the pattern, but never made it. As you asked for recommendations: I think the Tustin dress by Itch to Stitch might be up your lane: super comfortable as it is made from jersey, the neckline is pretty but not low, a very easy sew and it’s not fabric hungry. I got mine out from 1.5m. All you need to find is some not too slinky jersey (my 2 versions are from viscose French Terry) where the pattern is abstract enough, that it doesn‘t matter, that the front top half is tilted by 45 degrees. And with a lot of stretch for comfort. This is my favourite jersey dress by far.

Ooh. So many lovely dresses! I have only made the Saltwater of the ones you mentioned, but I have a Donny shirt cut out. I agree that the hacks look lovely. Chelsea also made a lovely Saltwater hack where she basically made the top, and cut it about 2 inces under the bustdart and then gathered a skirt onto it so that it became a baby doll dress. Looked amazing! I hope you are enjoying your holiday :)

I think on your last video I mentioned the Shelby. I had dress for my brother's wedding 25 years ago that was very similar to the Shelby and I loved it. I'm a pear (in my case more a butternut squash) and that style suits me very well. Anything that fits my hips is too big in the top and anything that fits the top, well if it fits the top it can only be a top because it won't cover much below! lol

Thanks Ruan. I’m looking to make a summer dress as I’m very much a trouser/shorts kinda gal. There is so much choice out there that it blows my mind a bit, and it’s hard to choose which may suit my body shape (I’m hour glass so am better with a cinched in waist), some of the less shaped dresses would make me look like a box on legs 😂. Anyway it’s always good to see what a dress actually looks like as the line drawings just don’t give you this. I love your makes and vlogs. Have a great holiday.

Hey Ruan, thanks for this list…I’ve taken notes🥰 Your body shape sounds very similar to mine and I think the “Sweet Summertime” dress from ‘Sew to Grow’ would look really lovely on you. I had to lengthened the bodice so that the waist sat at my smallest part and added more length and flare into the A-line skirt. Made it out of cotton that was fairly structured. I get compliments every time I wear it. Hope you have a safe and relaxing holiday. Sending best wishes from Down Under 💖💐🌸🌺🇦🇺😎

Lovely selection! The only two I have made are the Shelby (and like you, I love the version I made) and the Kew Dress (I pattern tested for the expansion pack and have made two of the original as well). I absolutely love the Kew and made my first version with the cold shoulder bits but left them off the next two I made, because whilst they look great and work well to add balance to my narrower shoulders (compared to my hips anyway 😂) they do restrict arm movement a fair bit, so worth bearing that in mind.

Hi, there. I am no pro; but I have a really curvy body. And my experience says; if you have a bit larger hips than waist (of course we have😅😂), the blue dress with straps, will make to much fabric in the back. I am not sure at all on that dress. Maybe if you swing it out as a looser fit, but then again it is not the same dress.
You might need some incision in the back, Ryan. I know for certain, I would😅
