Mmm this is such a comfort dish for me. My mom uses fatty pieces of salmon for mok pa and it’s just heavenly. Sometimes she’ll add mixed mushrooms, which then really kicks up the umami flavors like wow, wow, wow! Great job Saeng!
I eat this all my life and never had I ever got tire of it. It's the type of food that you can't stop eating even when you're full, just like curry and steameolls cover in spicy peanut sauce. It's just so good! Sticky rice is a must for the fish! Eat til full, 1 hour later still crave them. The dill always shine in this dish!
I really agree that the Dill brings out the peculiar great taste of this dish. My first time to use dill. My new discovery in my life. Lol. And I used a kitchen tie instead of the skewer. Then my banana leaves have some slits - so what I did was secured it with aluminum foil( outside part) so the sauce won’t seep out. Thank u really for this dish 😀
Oh my gosh!! I’ve watched your videos before and always wondered who you remind me of. It’s the guy from good eats!! I miss watching good eats but your videos remind me of Laos good eats show 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 keep them up!!
Hi Thank you, for the video it looks so delish and want to try to make it. The link you have to the recipe says the link is broken. I tried searching for the recipe on your site but it doesn't show up. Could you share the recipe please and Thank you!

No,,. It don't give that sticky taste...The soak sticky rice ,dill...and the fermented fish paste that's what bring out the best of this dish and give it a balance favor.and texture..The dill help kill the smells .and give it that special taste... Without those ingredient don't even tried...to much fish smell..
Oh this looks good!😁😁 I will try to make it, looks easy enough. My banana trees are just starting to grow from the winter. So I'll wait for fresh banana leaves to make this dish!! Ty!👍

Looks delicious! Can you use the already grounded up rice powder instead? The kind that they use for laab?

You can use any protein, it's even good with chicken
Don't have any coriander root in the asian stores around my area. Without it, will the flavour be different?
No ,but the dill is , the more the Merrier
👍 thanks 😊
Is there anything I can substitute for Dill?

The link doesn't work

Where can I get that shirt?
This is my favorite. I love eating this with sticky rice.
Can I sub cilantro for dill?
Do you have the restaurant in Los Angeles?
I do not have a restaurant
@@SaengsKitchen ok i just wondering im going to visit LA soon. and watching your RUclips the food that you make look good
Does it have to be catfish?? Can it be a white bass
White bass will work too!
what can i substitute if i cant get banana leaves
Heavy duty tin foil will work. You just won’t get the fragrance of the banana leaves
What brand of padek?
Pan tai
👍
Sap sap! I just want the fish heads and fatty brain please. 😋
Can basil be added?
It can but I’d say it throws off the flavor a bit since dill is supposed to be dominant in this dish
My dang banana leaves always rip before I can get one fold.
DILLicious 😂
😍💓🌈😘😋🤤
