I agree. In sickness and in health. This is only a season of your lives. This may be a good thing. Not that he didn't know before, however he is a man but it looks and sounds like he's able to let you help him then he was in the past. Marriage is team work. Sometimes Sarah may not be 100% and that's cool do then ya'll put that 30% together with his 70% and make it count. The kids look great, healthy clean and happy. So in the grand scheme of things you guys got through or are currently still getting through and just do what you gotta do to put the kids to bed at night. ❤❤❤❤ I hope this makes sense lol in the middle I had to actually help my little guy who was having a crisis because he couldn't find his wemote (remote). Also my apologies if I added the h after Sarah and there's not one.

So refreshing to see a young family like yours on social media that seem to have such good values … It’s so refreshing.
Sidenote, nothing important as far as the hair… Sarah’s gorgeous no matter what color her hair is but I think she looks a little bit better as a blonde. As far as Derek’s hair, he’s cute no matter what also but have to say that the mullet has to go!:)

@5057birth totally agree about the hair. Blonde is best! The red was stunning at first, but the blonde matched your personality. And I miss it, blonde is more stunning and appealing in the long run. And yes the mullet has to go. And be patient about your knee. It really isnt that long a wait when you compare it to being able to walk the rest of your life by being good to yourself now.

@nicolepaigeful As a Great Grandmother it is so refreshing to see such selfless and loving parents in this world that is becoming more and more selfish and entitled. The fact that you two unselfishly chose to love 2 children that you knew from the start would pose physical, mental, and emotional challenges in your every day life is so inspiring. Some days (weeks, months, years) are hard raising children under the best of circumstances without the special love, patience, and attention you and your husband must give. God bless this children's hearts that they have had to endure trauma in their young lives. And God bless you two loving and compassionate souls choosing to take the difficult road not the easy one. You two are truly inspiring and touched my ❤Grandma Heart❤! At 74 I have been raising or helping to raise children (now a Great Grand) since 1972 due to circumstances that befell one parent or another. It has been the most exhausting but most joyful thing I have ever done but I would do it all again (well actually still am). Unlike you and your husband, I have seen the end instead of just the present battles, and you are so right Nicole, sunnier days are ahead!! I don't mean to intrude, but if I could just offer one piece of learned advice (which I'm sure you already know). Take care of yourselves, each other, and the closeness and love in your marriage. Easier said than done, I know! I've really had to get creative on that one ~ believe me! You are so brave (yes, brave) because raising what I like to call "The Short People" is not for the faint of heart! You brightened my day with your inspiring story and I sincerely thank you for sharing it with us. ❤Nicole and Hubby you have earned a place in my heart and in my daily prayers even though I don't know you personally. Love, compassion, and caring know no limitations of space, time, or proximity. You are truly living a "Life With Purchase" and will contribute to a better world for your devotion and "exhausting sacrifice"!! ✨✨May
God richly bless your little family, may Jesus keep you 4 in the palm of His hand, and The Holy Spirit give you peace and comfort in your endeavors!✨✨. I have NEVER written a post this long and I apologize for the length. You just touched my heart in such a way that my admiration for you two came spilling out!🌸🌸
Time and desire permitting, I would be thrilled to hear back from you two with anything you might share. As you said in your response ~ I see you!

I’m so sorry you guys are going through this right now, I can only imagine how frustrating it is!! But before you know it, you’ll have your brace off and slowly getting back to your old lives, and becoming more active and having more fun! Whatever you do, you guys need to remember to take care of your bodies! I was a CNA for most of my life and ruined my body by the time I was in my mid 40s! I have had two neck surgeries now, and my back is next! Trust me when I say that I understand the frustration of not being able to be as active as I’d like to be! Take care of yourselves now, and you won’t be paying for it later on in life! Thank you so much for sharing your life with us all the time, I just can’t believe how beautiful Jack and Sonny are! They are just the most adorable kids! I remember when Jack was born, I can’t believe how many years have gone by and how grown-up he already is! I used to love it when Jack would wake up and you guys would race to see who was going to get Jack out of the crib first! You guys are awesome! Thanks for everything you always cheer me up and brighten my day!😊❤️👍🏼

Oh boy, you are *so* right about a positive attitude! It might not make things go faster but you can enjoy the ride much more.🙂
I've been recovering from a cardiac arrest that I had last October. Apparently because of the heart stopping for a time and the lack of blood (with ever-important oxygen) circulation my legs, feet, hands, and arms were affected. I suffered a lot of weakness. I'm getting my strength back and walking better with the walker. I can sooo relate to being relatively immobile. You feel like this will be 'you' forever. God willing, it won't.
In the meantime, a positive attitude is the key. If anything, laughter is the best medicine. I can laugh at myself - and have been a lot. I also love watching comedy acts. Not sitcoms but the actual acts. There's a lot of different stand-up comedians out there and it's not hard to find someone that makes you laugh. There are G, PG, & R rated acts ~ lots to choose from.
    Take care of yourselves!❤

I just talked to a 90 year old relative who wears a colostomy bag, can’t see well, on all kinds of medicine, had a hard time breathing but what hurts him the most is not being able to do the things that his mind wants to do but what his body won’t let him. He said to me that he’s lived a good life. He is the last of his siblings and is lonely for some companionship. It all puts it into perspective for me to take nothing for granted, be thankful for everything. Great job Derrick for looking at the positive in your situation right now. I understand where Derik is coming from. I used to be so active, kids, work, housework. Then I got ill, very ill, I am permently bedridden, tube fed, need help with everything. Yet my husband helps change my diaper, shower me etc never complains and he gets tired. I do the online shop, organise birthdays & Christmas. I do his feet every 3-4 weeks, & whatever else I can do ease the burden from him. Our kids are older thankfully and have their own lives, it would have been a struggle with children as young as Jack & Sunny. At the end of the day he gets into bed and we snuggle. Its hardwork for him and as a couple to not fall into the patient/carer roles. We are husband & wife first and foremost. 25 years this year. Sarah is coping so well, under the circumstances, how she did it when Sunny was tiny I dont know. Someone commented that the front door was open. Derik is able to close it and should have. Hopefully this chapter will soon come to a close and they can get back to normal. Love the snuggle and show nights, they are the best! ❤ This is one of three family channels I watch. Loving the podcast too ❤

I watch him 2 and 3 days of the week and share the other time with other Mimi.... So, he has needed more stimulation than I alone could give him. Don't think I put him in front of the TV and leave him.... We interact... Just like class.... But sometimes I'm tired of being the teacher so Miss Rachel is helpful. I feel for you guys, it’s not easy when one is totally out of action and can’t really do anything to help the other, we were in a similar situation last year when my husband got what’s called “CharCot” foot due to him having diabetes but he also travels for work and his feet often swell when flying but this time the swelling didn’t go down and it took months before he got a diagnosis and once he did, he had to have his leg in a plaster cast for 15 weeks and immobilised the whole time, we ended getting him a knee scooter because he found it hard to use crutches and he couldn’t even put his foot to the floor, I had to do everything for him and everything around our home, lucky we don’t have little children and I feel for Sarah having to do so much with two little ones, hopefully Derik will be healed soon and it’s good to see him being responsible this time around, Sarah, why don’t you get someone in to clean your home for you, might just take some of the pressure off you, having little ones it’s always going to be harder and your kids still have to be kids and play, don’t worry to much about your home, the mess will still be there tomorrow and the next day, you need to get rest yourself because I know that I was exhausted taking care of my husband at the time but then I’m a lot older than you guys. Hang in There…💙💙🩷🩷🇦🇺

Thank you for showing us reality. Taking care of kids amid life’s challenges-and taking care of kids in general-isn’t always sunshine and roses. Doesn’t mean you love them any less, it’s just life.
Can I say I am STUNNED with Sunny’s problem-solving and independence. When she had the water and the binky, and instead of spitting it out, she sat down, set the water down, put the binky in the water, drank the water. You guys are doing an awesome job raising independent kids while giving them a fantastic support system and safe environment.

I can fully relate to the feelings you're experiencing. I had a 2nd back surgery in 2020 that seems to have backfired. It has left me pretty much bedridden. Had another back surgery in 2022....even worse results so I'm scheduled for yet ANOTHER back surgery in April, 2024. Lord I pray it will help me out and I'll be able to walk again.
I'm really scared for this surgery. It will be even more envasive....they have to cut out and remove ½ of a rib!?! But even more frightening is they will have to lift my intestines, lungs...most all my inards in order to lay them folded away so to get to my spine. I am a Christian and am trying to give my worries to God....still am very concerned tho.
Praying for you and your family. God bless.

Me too, I agree with you 100% ❤❤Thank goodness you Derik made the right decision to go get that knee brace out of the garage before getting your daughter Sunny. I too have had to come back inside the house before leaving anywhere on my bicycle, my only transportation on my own when my husband can't take me.See I broke my wrist in 2 places, when I broke it at work on July 15th,2023. I had to have surgery to get a fork titanium plate attached to the bones with 12 screws on July 19th,2023. The plate is in there permanently now after the doctor agreed with me about my after pains. This will make flight gate check fun for me in explanation, but the thing is I am grateful to have my wrist supporters (9 to be exact ) cause of sweat and my chores around home. Anyways I don't dare attempt riding my bicycle anymore without one wrist supporter in my handbag. Later I will probably have to invest in a metal lining wrist supporter if I ever want to do bowling again, but so far for now let's just do what we can, and sometimes other things have to be just overlooked when we got our painful hard days. Today for April 19th, 2024 is a painful day for me and my wrist, so the wrist support is on 🥰💪💪💪Sincerely American mommy follower in Japan 👨‍👩‍👧‍👧👨‍👩‍👧👫🇺🇸🇯🇵🗾🗻🌏🙏💖
