Far Cry 3 is viewed through the eyes of Jason Brody on vacation with a group of friends in Bangkok during which they decide to take a skydiving trip. They land on a pirate-infested island, and are taken prisoner by an evil human being named Vaas. The pirates take Jason and his friends hostage with the intentions of selling them on the black market as slaves. Jason breaks free from the pirate camp leaving his friends behind. Jason is rescued by a man named Dennis, who is part of the Rakyat tribe who suffers at the hands of the pirates. Jason and Dennis build a bond and try to work together to overcome many hardships and attempt to help free Jason's friends.

I love this game. Fun fact: At school when you were supposed to write a short story about a plane crashing on an island and you were the only survivor. I took some inspiration of Far Cry 3's story.

I wrote a story in class almost exactly like Far Cry 3. It featured Vaas but instead I called him Maas Vontenegro.
This reminds of when I had to do a map for a similar project I used the name of the far cry 3 islands but the terrain and names on the main island are based off of far cry primal

The one thing i hate is that grant dies at the start.
Obviously he had to die to progress the story of jasons path to insanity but they couldve made a version where grant survives, accompanies jason but a rift slowly develops between them due to jason becoming insane. That wouldve been cool too

The thing you don't realize right off the bat is that Vaas and Dennis were both manipulated by Citra at some point. Vaas was born on the island and grew up knowing their culture. Well maybe he didn't know every detail. Since it becomes apparent that he turned away from his family and home to instead side with Hoyt. Knowing the final step of being a "Warrior" and feeling betrayed by his family. Realizing he was only being raised to be slaughtered he took his only other choice. This and the sick events that Hoyt more than likely placed him in caused him to go mad. Dennis on the other hand is also like Jason because he too was stranded on the island and manipulated by Citra. He unlike Vaas and Jason though did not have the necessary skills and failed being a "Warrior". Instead he was shoved to the side and Jason took his place. More or less. The signs are very subtle in the game but if you can spot them you'll see the proof. Dennis gets drunk and proclaims Citra as HIS when he sees Jason achieving goals and the praise that he obviously did not. Later he also tries to kill you depending on the ending because after all that you didn't choose Citra. Unlike Dennis; you weren't completely manipulated. Vaas' clues on the other hand are more confusing but if you actually listen to some of his ranting; you'll start to hear him say something about how family fucks you over and him comparing Jason to himself. Mentioning briefly on Jasons developing tatu. In a lot of ways Vaas is a fallen "hero" turned twisted. He had two choices. Kill Hoyt and whatever else was a driving problem and then be sacrificed via "Warrior sex ritual". Or side with an evil man who more than likely sells kids into sex trade as well as adults. Basically every evil thing under the sun but hey Vaas can continue living in some twisted fucked up way with all his new skills as a killer. Can't honestly blame him for taking Hoyts side on this. Yet all these reasons and more is what drove him into madness. A part of him maybe even felt guilty for not following tradition. Yet he was torn between life and death. Tradition and Pride. Also when Jason goes to kill Vaas. It's almost like he's warning him without actually saying it. "We're so fucked Jason." "She's gonna make a warrior out of you."
Either way this game is the most unique in the series IMO and that is why it is so far my favorite. It places you the common person just like Jason; into a situation where much like the character would be freaked out. The first person view in this game is completely justified by this fact. Even though Jason is a character you ARE Jason. What you feel is what he feels. You are being manipulated just like Jason is. This is why the game can get so confusing. Honestly I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel or even a prequel done for his game. Hopefully if not a direct sequel or prequel then maybe mentions of Jason and where he goes after the events on the island. I suspect he more than likely joined a special ops unit. Or Assassin. The government would more than likely have an interest in him after they returned. Assuming they do..

It's a good game but the Quick Time Events are bullshit for the narrative.
Carlos Daniel they really aren't, the reason everything leaves Jason's view is because he's only focusing on his target, his love for killing gets so extreme that he envisions his own battle ground and only places his enemy in sight

Just showing some love. I’m late to the Farcry series but it’s one of my favorites. I’m 33 but only recently got into gaming. Its amazing the amount of people who enjoy FPS but haven’t played these games. It’s the ultimate character with amazing stories. Who else has characters that Run, jump, grapple, wing suites, parachutes, chain take downs, Amazing guns and other weapons. Plus a whole hunting, gathering, crafting set up. Long Live FarCry. Lol. Quarantine got me watching video game movies from 2013.

Did anyone noticed that torwards the beggining a little while after jason rescues liza she shows him the cross she was making for his brother and jason said thanks and that he hadnt had time to make one himself and then at the end when he kills hoyt the knives in hoyt make a cross one through the throat horizantilly the other through the skull vertically

Back when this game was new, I was told this was an amazing game so I bought it just to see what it was about. Unfortunately I'm terrible at FPS games and I eventually got frustrated and stopped playing and I never got to see what happened. I really appreciate all the effort you did making and posting this video!

Dude this is not suppose to be a power shooter...this game is a blend of different concepts into one game. it's a great stealth game (more fun than shooting). A great exploration game (finding relics and other items), great story medium, and a decent FPS game at worst (some weapons feel very satisfying to me, like the sniper rife and the cross bow). It's pretty much an unforgettable experience with all these elements gel together so well and you try to experience fully what it offers. If you treat it as a run on the mill FPS and want nothing but to beat the game by shooting dudes in the face. of course you are doing it unjustice.
@123doomdoom I'm not discrediting the points you're making. In fact I completely agree with you. My main point in my original comment was that I'm not good at FPS style games as a whole. I don't have a high-end PC so I mainly game on a console, and no matter what FPS genre I try, aiming isn't my strong point. And to my knowledge, playing FPS games on a console vs a mouse & keyboard is like night and day. To sum it up I did not treat this game like a "power shooter" where I spray and prayed. I understood the basic concept that the core of my survival was to be smart about how I progressed through the game. It's just that due to my sub-par aiming skills on a console controller I couldn't enjoy the game to its fullest because I'm not good at *any* FPS style game.
Joseph Cristobal Ok understood. I couldn't play FPS games with a controller several months back as I am also a PC gamer. But with bit of practice, I am getting good at it. It's difficult, but you get with time.

Honestly my first favorite part out of the entire video was The battle between Jason and Hoyt. Not only was it my favorite but it was the most challenging part of the story for me to accomplish since it required fast timing!

It was epic in every sense. Going from hunted to being the hunter. I never wanted it to end but it did. Great experience and I highly recommend it.

Finishing far cry 3 is not too easy , while playing it will make you so nervous it has good story , this game can give us happines , and gamematics played it very very well , liberating the outposts is not easy , i hope gamematics can finish the harder games than this one .

@@Gamematics when the multi player was still functional it was the best game i’d ever played, that list includes: River City Ransom, GunStar Heroes, Castlevania Symphony of the Night, Armored Core Arena (when continued from an AC1 save where you went into debt and kept all of the weapons), Sudeki, Elder Scrolls Morrowind, Fallout 3, CoD MW2 & Skyrim
If there’s one in there that you haven’t played, you absolutely should.
So much different from my gameplay I spent half my time roaming and hunting by the time that I got to the Medusa I had unlocked almost every gun and crafted everything my cousin helped me a ton because he already played this game and finished. Thanks Ethan!!

Gamematics I regretted playing far cry 4 after realizing it's utter shit compare to 3. The game play is fun.. but it's the nostalgia and similarity that depresses the crap out of you..just... stick with 3 if you don't want a sad rip off first person version of specs op: the line except the line have characters with emotion. I just pretend 4 never existed, that it's a DLC and that I'm not playing a boring ass character named Ajay, but a lovable more interesting douche named Jason who has a funny nickname who's still fighting Vass except he is in a body of an Asian dude for some reason. That way I have more fun with elephants ignoring the god awful story.
Ignorance is bliss... besides the reason why far cry 3 was awesome is because Jason and vaas is made by the same writer who made Ezio in assassin's creed 2. And both Ezio and Jason are lovable douche bags who have a far better personality then Ajay, Sabal, or Amita.
If you are playing far cry 4, just self delude yourself so you can stomach it's awful storyline like I did.

When you combine these, you get a perfect game. Perfect games are very rare. Far Cry 3 is definitely a perfect game. I didn't like Far Cry 4's story.

I have just realized that this games story is not there to create a unique epic story. But to explore things such as insanity, morality, and the inner instincts of humans. It's actually pretty thoughtful for a shooter.

This is sooo exciting. I wish I ended up in a thrilling adventure like this. Only In the real world, you don't heal fast. And you don't respawn. And It's tiring to worry about someone close to you.
Reema Chi yeah realistically no one could pull of what Jason did considering he probably ate at least 1000 bullets and still lived lol. Guns jam, one bullet can kill you, disease, etc. Chance of survival on a adventure like this is very slim
