Cornell Hemp 2019 CBD Cultivar Trial

Comparing Total Potential CBD and THC Over Time
Total CBD and total THC accumulation curves for the 30 cultivars.
Most cultivars accumulate high levels of cannabinoids by week 2 or 3.
Top 10cm of shoot tips were sampled and cannabinoids were quantified using HPLC.
*Across most cultivars studies the CBD and THC trends seem to be similar, but there are a few standouts…
Two Cultivars Umpqua and Deschutes
The two cultivars Umpqua and Deschutes, peak their CBD levels before THC reaches its maximum levels. *But both produce THC levels above the 0.3% threshold.
Most Will Exceed 0.3% Total THC
However, this is notable that in some cultivars it is possible for THC levels to increase in the later weeks into flower
Not in this case, but in other cultivars that may be close to the 0.3% threshold, this could be notable observation.

Where Are Cannabinoid Accumulated?
Cannabinoids are synthesized and accumulate in unfertilized female inflorescence specifically the trichomes that are found on the surface of the inflorescence and the leaves.
Biosynthetic Schema for Cannabinoids
The enzymes and many genes for the pathway have been isolated and characterized.
Novel polyketide cyclase for the synthesis of olivetolic acid Prenyl transferase, also called cannabigerolic acid synthase, that produces the central precursor cannabigerolic acid (CBGA)
The specific synthases for the production of THCA, cannabidolic acid (CBDA) and cannabichromenic acid (CBCA) have also been characterized.
Based on inheritance of chemical phenotypes, the genes for THCA synthase (THCAS) and CBDA synthase (CBDAS) are considered co-dominant alleles
The gene for CBCA synthase is an independent locus.
However, based on DNA sequencing and analysis of the transcripts expressed in marijuana and hemp samples, multiple linked loci for the THCAS and CBDAS genes are proposed.
There are published genomes for Cannabis, and the genetic diversity for the biosynthetic pathway of cannabinoids in both marijuana and hemp strains is under investigation
Bioactive Forms of Cannabinoids
The bioactive forms of the cannabinoids are produced following a light or heat induced decarboxylation reaction to generate cannabigerol (CBG), Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9-THC), cannabidiol (CBD) or cannabichromene (CBC).

Great, informative & interesting video, as always.
Great to be consistent in this way;-)
Do you think you would explore how different light spectrums and at what stage they’re changed would effect a plant’s cannabinoid and oil production? It’s something I’ve heard from many growers and people at shops and was wondering if you would think of exploring that topic from your perspective.
Thanks for another informative video!
That could very well be something as simple as light companies trying to sell "new cutting edge products" and influencing people's thinking. I'm not disagreeing with you don't take that wrong. I am interested to know where that idea derives from.
There is some researching being published on this very subject. So check this out... Brousseau, V. D., Wu, B. S., MacPherson, S., Morello, V., & Lefsrud, M. (2021). Cannabinoids and terpenes: how production of photo-protectants can be manipulated to enhance Cannabis sativa L. phytochemistry. Frontiers in Plant Science, 12.

My favorite PowerPoint I have ever witnessed. Thank you professor.
Thanks for this very powerful and positive comment. Be sure to share the channel with others and encourage them to subscribe!
Sound good!
Thanks for listening.
Thanks for these videos!
Thanks for watching!
Much appreciate these videos. Extremely insightful and informed material
Happy to know you enjoy the content and the presentation of the material.
Most excellent my friend
Glad you liked it!
Very good schooling 🌱
DeBacco University can only teach those who want to learn.
I know I am late to the game, but these videos are excellent and very informative. Thanks for doing them!
No problem the key is you got here, be sure to tell others about the channel!
Wow really interesting, i wonder if adding certain enzymes at certain times would break down the main compound into more thc
Yes adding ethylene speeds up ripening of any plant
@@drakeweddner awesome, didnt know that, bravo 👏
In short yes this is possible, it is just making it happen that is more of a challenge.
Wish I was your neighbor.😎
Here you get the content and interaction without the need to listen to loud music;-)
@50_State_Revolution, interesting what your saying but at first hand I don’t see any connection, so as his biosynthesis chart here in the vid 🤔 can you remember the mechanism behind it, or better, can you quote your source of information?!?! I mean, fluvo is natural product of humification in soil which brings a lot of very important matters for building cannabinoid compounds in plants e.g by chelating metal-ions 🤔 so please give us a source of your information:)
@Jess_Noémi there is already a lot of qualified research about that topic, you just have to get to know
the characteristics of development of your strain and combine it with the given research on plants in general, and cannabis in detail, and the influence of light on certain aspects ;) like, why the plant produces these compounds, what are they for, and why?so, what triggers are involved?!
Check the description on this video and all others for a link to the Works Cited for all information presented.

obviously prohibitions arbitrary directives have created many distractedly useless necessities (like remaining within baseless limits) but some levels of nerdy-ness just boggle the mind!
The more you know...
@@DeBaccoUniversity Useless information is useless.
wow 3 in a row=5***** wow do i get a diploma for all this learning..joke already got plent of those and they are useless in old age...request if you have your big grow and have workers could you do some short interviews and ask 1/ what have you learned doing this from strart on work till current 2/ how did you streamline your work flow 3/what was the most important thing/s you discovered about this work with these plants manythxs day 2 and glad i continued now back to main list and see what i missed..manythxsPro/prof@DeBacco
Third 5-star review in a row is fantastic!
