Half way thru harvest and had a great year with your help! Thanks so much for making the videos they have been very helpful in improving the quality of my medicine, which I grow outdoors in the middle of Illinois (zone 5). I don't have enough income to buy all I need all year, so my grow is exceedingly important in making sure I'll have medicine all year around. You have been a big part of that and I just wanted to say thank you!

That would be "hygrometer ", not hydrometer. A hydrometer tests the specific gravity of a liquid, it doesn't measure humidity. Very confusing and an easy mistake to make.
How long should I burp the jars for 15 mins what time should I let fresh air in the first week is 3 times a day fine for the first ? Then 2 times the second week ?
Early it is often and then less and less per day as things progress. Burp period is often less than 1min. just to equalize pressure and add some fresh air.
@@burkebreathed9139 thanks for your comment I used to be all about this but now I am Drug Free, i have to say Jesus saved me , I suggest you talk to Him to, Shalom!
Just finished my first indoor grow. I hung and dried my plants in a dark room with 55-60% humidity, at60- 65 degrees room temperature. I kept checking the stems for a clean snap. After ten days the stems never snapped clean and remained pliable, so I trimmed and jarred anyway. My problem now is that the humidity won't go above 51%. Did I over-dry? And if so can I rehydrate with a small piece of moist paper towel in the jars for a few hours? Or have I already destroyed the curing process by over-drying?
@@DeBaccoUniversity I have the two way humidity packs but have been hesitant to use them because some RUclipsrs have stated that they seem to lessen the flavor of the flower. Have you ever experienced that?
@@hbpw857 I never used the humidity packs. I taped a moistened piece of paper towel to the inside of the jar lid for a half a day. Humidity went back up to right around 62%. I retained my flavor and the smoke was superb.

Thanks for pointing this out.
Self burping lids are the best in my opinion.
These can be very helpful.
How long does one keep the jar open each time when burping?
10sec. to 10min.
What is the maximum jar size for curing and storage that you recommend? Is 3 liters too big?
Depends how much you're drying. Try to keep at least some room at the top for air movement.
Depends on the size of the operation, and growers choice.
How long should I burp the jars for 15 mins what time should I let fresh air in the first week is 3 times a day fine for the first ? Then 2 times the second week ?
Early it is often and then less and less per day as things progress. Burp period is often less than 1min. just to equalize pressure and add some fresh air.
When the crop smells like hay is due to the genetics or improper curing?
Sounds more like a curing issue.
Not trimming your buds will give it a hay smell.

What do you think about Burp lids? Or Grove bags? Are they worth it?
These commercial products seem to be directed to the cannabis market and could help with curing, but the basic requirements for the process remain the same.
For me it's the same process to unscrew a jar as to grab the burping thing, I just pop the lids for a bit, have a smoke and cap them again
So is 58% better then 62% seems like it depends on the grower?
58%-62% is the sweet spot.

Not sure of the exact make and model, but if not the Monsem it is something comparable (ex. Kinze).
How do you bring up the RH if the hygrometer reads low?
Humidifier is the easy answer, but adding misters/foggers can help, but do not make the humidity too high.
