    Exactly what I needed to know - thanks for this review. There are so many of these ad sites (including one in the youtube ads I got this morning, hence my doing a little digging) where they're pricing up generic heaters up at £50. I notice with that never ending 50% discount.

      thats why i did this as i looked at reviews and there Cleary paid reviews and biased, there very little honest reviews out there on these things whichis why i made a honest one

    I purchased one to heat my truck cap camper set up. My 2000 watt inverter just idles when heater is on. Heats the 175 Square Feet area adequately. Was thinking it was rated at 350 watts.

    Just started RUclips (!!!) on my TV and yes, there it was, the ad about this bloke who's uni was freezing so he "invented" it. Those ads are rally more and more sophisticated and scientific.

    Good review. If you don’t run your central heating at all and take this thing with you from room to room, will it save money? Maybe. But in the end it’s not worth the hassle and it’s not clear cut that it does actually run less energy than your central heating. You are spot on calling it a top off

    • @KarlFixes
      @KarlFixes  6 месяцев назад

      I think if you live on your own and maybe move between a living room and bedroom then maybe. but not for a family or large house we're multiple people are in a few different rooms. I'd more look at it that if you have a cold room in your house it would help top up heating quicker but I wouldn't rely on it to for actual heating you need much bigger unit

  • @philipwelsh1862

    It’s bound to heat up any room a little that’s just sense but it’s how much it warms it and the cost

    As long as it takes chill of room its ok, plus not a lot of money brand name guaranteed

    • @KarlFixes
      @KarlFixes  6 месяцев назад

      Yeh takes the chill of it's not something you want to use as a main substitute for central heating or a bigger oil type heater

    Correct me if I am wrong. I am paying £90 per month for combined heating - Tv, computer, fridge, washing, cooking and dish washer (3 times a week), Per day that will be 90/30= £3 per day, 3/24=£0.125 per hour. Would I really save more money using this heater? I don't think so.
    And this is during this winter, which was cold in December and January.
    I live in a 500 sq. ft. flat without gas, just electricity.

    • @KarlFixes
      @KarlFixes  5 месяцев назад

      This is my point it won't heat your so house for cheaper than normal heating. It will heat a small room or top up a room with central heating but it's not a substitute for heating a house or large room

  • @alansmith934

    At £20, no one can really say that they have been ripped off.
    10m sq isn’t 3.5 metres, that’s a bit too much. It’s 3.165metres x 3.165 metres, approximately. Or in imperial, approximately 10 feet 4.7 inches x 10 feet 4.7 inches.
    Someone gave me one as a Christmas present. At first I thought that it was a bit of a gimmick. But I was surprised that it did put out quite a bit of heat.
    The only drawbacks are the noise, (though I can live with that if I have to) and that it seems to sap any moisture out of the room.

    • @KarlFixes
      @KarlFixes  5 месяцев назад

      Yes I agree with this is does work. It just not a substitute for heating your house it's ok for small spaces

    I think this is a poor test, as you said the temp 10.7 C, of course it is going to have a hard time. The question how long did it take to get to 25C and was it able to maintain that temp. 25C is a little to hot for me, I would tested at 20C

    • @KarlFixes
      @KarlFixes  6 месяцев назад

      I don't think it would ever get that room to 25c that the point of the review it's not good for heating a medium to large room. Maybe a very small shed or caravan but I wouldn't be using one of these to substitute any sort of proper heater. It's more ok to leave on for an hour to take a chill off it definitely should not be used as a main heating device

    10 sq/m my ass.
    500w = 377 BTU's. Enough to heat an area of 4 sq/m.

      I was looking for something better than the swamp coolers that they were scamming us with during summer.
      It's not good, but its not as scammy either. Great review.

    This heater is junk, it will not stay plugged in. I put a new receptacle in and it still wanted to fall out so next I put an L bracket under it, now it sort of stays plugged in. The remote cannot be further than about 18 inches away and has to be pointed directly at the top of heater. What good is a Remote that you have to get so close to heater that you can now turn the heater off with the switch? This remote really sucks it does not respond well at all. My room is 8'x16' =128 Sq Ft and is 6'6'' tall and is well insulated. It takes about 2 hours to heat the room so be ready to be cold or use the tower heater to get room warm. I see the UK has a better plugin then the US, which is where I am, The US usually has 2 prongs and a ground. The US Alpha Heater only has 2 prongs, and the heater falls out of the receptacle, not good.
