Isn't that kind of strange? Do you know why? I heard from a friend who traveled to FAE last weekend that SAS pilots would not like to land on the island if it blows too much, which Atlantic Airways has no problem with. True story? By the way, you have really beautiful islands! :D
The reason behind this, is that Atlantic Airways is a faroese company while SAS is not, so many are afraid that is they don't fly Atlantic Airways then they won't survive the competition. Before SAS came the ticket prices were at least twice as high, but many just don't trust them anyway. It has nothing to do with the winds, but with the fog, which there is a lot of in the Faroe Islands. Atlantic Airways has a special navigation system that allows them to land with close to zero visibility while SAS does not have this system. Therefore a lot of SAS flights get canceled.
To be honest, my flight with Atlantic Airways wasn’t particularly full either. There were not many completely filled rows, and if so, the people seemed like they knew each other. Had a good amount of completely empty rows as well 🤔
SAS has just recently started flying to the Faroe Islands, so most people that fly there use Atlantic Airways in stead of SAS. That's why SAS planes are so empty. :) Atlantic Airways aircrafts have a better landing track record due to specialized equipment in their aircrafts, developed specifically for landing in the Faroe Islands. SAS only lands around 70% of the time there while Atlantic Airways lands >85% of the time. SAS is working on getting the equipment on their planes as well, but there has been some dispute with regards to proprietary rigths and payments etc. of said equipment. :)
I've flown on an Iberia A320neo. It was nice but delayed by 2hrs (I was on the aircraft for that 2 hrs) due to an issue with the No.1 CFM LEAP 1-A engine. Apart from that, it was nice.
How cool! Yes, it was Ása and it was great! Just ten minutes drive from the airport and some 500 meters to Bonus, a grocery store. Nice little house with fireplace, a well equipped kitchen and a really fresh bathroom in the basement. I've some photos in my blog post (in Swedish). I hope you will enjoy the stay as much as we did! :) When are you going? Blogpost: www.dryden.se/2018/03/eget-hus-pa-faroarna-och-airbnb-premiar/
Faroe islands 🇫🇴 look really fun to travel to with SAS!
Well, SAS is okey. But Faroe Islands is better. ;)
Nice editing on the video, music volume is nice too. Really looking forward for the next video fam
Thanks a lot! :)
Excellent video! SAS FTW!!!
Thanks! :)
Nice report, i'm actually from the Faroe Islands, and it's so typical that the SAS flight is almost empty, while Atlantic Airways is always full!

Thanks for the comprehensive answer! I would love to go back and do day trips. There were no hikes on this visit. :)

@@FlyingDryden what about wideroe pilots?
Great video of a flight to a really really interesting destination!
Thanks! Oh yes, Faroe Island was really nice! Have you been there? :)
Sadly not so far.. But the Faroe islands are up high on my bucket list :)
I really can recommend it! :) It's possible to go ferries there too, which takes 36 hours from northern Denmark.
I would choose the air-way haha :D Probably trying out Atlantic Airways from Copenhagen :)
Ah, looking forward to a trip report of that flight! :)
Beautiful video mate!
Thanks! :) Have you been to the island?
Great Report!
Thanks! :) I really like the neo!

Nice video! =)

Never been, but want to go =D
I have reserved same house as you! Next to football field, owner is Ása, right? You liked this house?

Nice! I go in September. How did you received keys from Ása's house? She waited you in house?
I'm sorry, I can not answer that. She quickly and safely answers such questions. :)
FlyingDryden oh sorry. I understand it :-) but thanks
@@FlyingDrydenafter 6 years, I am visiting Faroes again. So excited
Eh. ;)
how big was your luggage
Just a small suitcase.
@@FlyingDryden Do they check for faroe island visa permit before boarding
No, they didn’t check for anything.
We have mostly bad weather here ok
But in this case I like bad weather. 😁
