    Flyability introduces the first collision-tolerant flying robot designed for industrial inspection professionals. Allowing for the first-time access to complex, cluttered or indoor places, Elios is unleashing the potential of UAVs in a number of applications where their use was previously too dangerous or simply impossible. Inspection can be performed at lower costs, downtime, and risks.

    Excellent Idea. The amount of possible application is truly endless. Imagine in time, you can also reduce it's size. The applications would explode even more.

    We have flown ours through a doorway into a room full of piping and instrumentation. Probably 50 or more yards out of site and maintained good video down link and control. the room cooler fans tossed it around a bit but it does have a high power burst flight mode which helped us out. Also, it was in a 100-400 mr/hr field.

      Hi Rob. Glad you've had a positive experience with Elios. Don't hesitate to reach out to our communication department (communication@flyability.com) if you wish to share a case study. We are always interested in co-editing them.

    “Gly”: I have allot of experience using 360 cameras in my productions. Having the ability to see 360 images after the flight would dramatically improve the drones spatial imagery instead of FPV imagery in a forward direction that your drone currently has.

    What is the range for communications with this UAV? If you're underground how can it possibly send and receive signals through all that concrete & rebar as it winds and turns deeper and further into a complex area.?

      Well spotted. The 2.4GHz radio system is essentially 'line of sight' You need a direct line of sight between the drone and the transmitter.

      then , it is not possible to do the visual inspection inside a COKE DRUM standing outside the drum .

    • @Flyability
      @Flyability  7 лет назад +1

      Hi Harry. It clearly depends on the environment but the range is clearly sufficient to inspect and explore the inner part of most of the assets you find in industrial environments. We're not talking multiple kilometers though but multiple hundreds of meters.

    as you have shown in the video, the UAV moves over the pipe lines. IS it safe and approved to operate in ZONE 0 and 1.

      Hi Pranab. Elios is not intrinsically safe though it used by many customers in the Oil & Gas industry. They use it to inspect storage tanks that use to contain Hydrocarbons and Chemicals. The only thing you need to do first is clean and degas the tank (as you would do if you were to send humans). You still make a lot of savings on reducing downtime and preventing the need for scaffolding.

    that cage looks like it could be used as an antenna

    Why does the ball cage has to rotate around the drone, I mean would it be a big deal if the cage was simply fixed ? Is it just to enable the drone to roll around ?

    • @Hirudin
      @Hirudin 8 лет назад +1

      Seems like allowing the cage to roll makes it so the rest of the drone doesn't have to.

    • @Flyability
      @Flyability  7 лет назад +2

      Hi Mathieu. The fact that the cage is decoupled (rotates freely around the cage) makes it collision-tolerant. If the cage was fixed, it would still in the event of a collision. The fact that it rolls is just bonus.

      Hi Marco, we work with DJI on the transmission system indeed, based on the Lightbridge 2 technology.

    is this drone intrinsically safe?

    • @Flyability
      @Flyability  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Joshua. The drone is not intrinsically safe but it is used by major petrochemical as well as oil & gas companies to inspect assets that are subject to explosive atmoshpere. It is just a matter of preparing the asset as you would for a manned inspection. The risk, cost, and downtime savings you do are still significant and worth the deployment of a drone instead of sending humans. You will find some case studies about it here: blog.flyability.com/casestudies

      What an ugly custom people have forgetting about R&D Engineers, production, marketing, quality... and only thinking about the cost of the screws and the camera that the drone has.
