About the fretboard, as I understand it, previously the streaked ebony was left to rot in the field. Now, due to environmental issues, all ebony is used. I think that this was started by Bob Taylor of Taylor guitars. He purchased an ebony plantation in Africa and provides much wood for many companies.
Beautiful playing. Hopefully your nail grows again. I sliced one while shaving a few years ago and only half will grow. Oh well...
