Morning Al, those machines have helped you do so much... I've watched every video for years. They too can help someone else create their new beginnings. ❤ Have a great day 😊
It was already sold, he was just letting people now the pros and cons, should they be considering this type of equipment. Salesmen don't list the cons. The title of the video was very apt. It's okay though, not every video is for everyone.
Upgrades are fun. Relating of all the specs plus what you have had to do on it... Helpful for others. Thank you. Perspective is everything. I see where a negative Nellie thinks this was a sales pitch. Obviously didn't listen past the specs on the first piece of equipment. Problem with not listening to discern what is actually being said is that it's so easy to miss the point or points being made and seeing what can help those thinking about buying equipment in future. I can't help thinking that those looking for sales info will never hear anything else because their mind is already made up to be negative. . . Yes. You did get a lot done with these pieces of equipment. Anyone starting out will appreciate this vid. Nice going!!!😊
Wow!! I never thought you'd get rid of the Bobcat just due to how much you've used it with SEVERAL projects! But, sometimes you've just got to do what you've got to do to be able to get the equipment that you'll use more, and not have to worry about having to jump through hoops to get the new parts you need! I can't wait to see what you got this time!
My Dad used to tell me that it is always easier to learn from someone else’s mistakes. I am sure that there are viewers who are very appreciative of your honest review. That especially applies to someone who might be looking to purchase the brand because you bought and use these machines. Proprietary parts and attachments is a turn-off.
Not happy with teasing us and not sharing your new equipment. Excavator and skid steer? Implements on the front are more efficient - faster and more accurate. Mini skids are popular now but you need a cab.
But you can at least run some aftermarket attachments on John Deere equipment! You have to make sure they have the right connector and/or are compatible with that specific piece of equipment. That is with any brand, some more than others. I think a lot of the brands have models that are like that. Some of their models are almost all their parts, attachments, etc, are proprietary. Where other models are under the same brand, you can buy parts, attachments, etc, right off the shelf/floor/lot of any store, and it will work.
possibly the most honest salesman i have ever heard, i would buy them and i don't even need them. looking forward to the new machine demo. best wishes from the UK,
Not your best episode issue. Interesting that Bobcat does what a vacuum cleaner manufacturer did decades ago ( use parts that could only be those made by "Electrolux" including screws).Corporate interests are in whatever increases their income long term. But I think most viewer interest goes to your animals, their housing, feed and environment, the animal impact on soil improvement, its impact on healthy food, family welfare, your housing in that off grid location and how you have upgraded your life style there including appearances overall. I do think most homesteaders are unlikely to have the diverse skills that you have in being able to smoothly explain the objectives of each episode, like Norm Abrams on his woodworking show, then actually accomplish the tasks needed to do a professional job. Additionally you seem to do quality home building, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, large equipment acquisition repair and maintenance, solar installation, financial management, property and water management, filming, editing and production of episodes. Anyone hoping to replicate your accomplishments in building a similar homestead are unlikely to be satisfied.
That's unfortunate about Bobcat and their proprietary parts. Thank goodness you don't have a John Deere. You can't even work on them - there is a "right to repair" lawsuit that's been going on for years - John Deere only allows a dealer to work on their equipment as if it involves the computer, they are locked up and only a John Deere dealer can work on them. Being a farmer means you have to be able to fix your own stuff. It has a lot of farmers who have John Deere equipment angry as they can't fix their own stuff. That would make me mad if I couldn't fix my own stuff!

Started off cold and rainy, then changed to mixed snow and rain, the to just snow, then back to mixed snow and rain before finally ending as all rain. It did windy a little bit in the morning but eased up by early afternoon. Of course, I had to work outside in it from 4:30 AM to 2 pm! 😂😂😂 At least today is turning out nice, a little warmer, supposed to be a high of 51F. you need to buy a giant old excavator. they go cheap at action because of shipping costs job to job. but it could spend the rest of its life moving your giant boulders etc in your rocky ground. just imagine what a 3 yard bucket could do for you.
Good morning Al, Gina and all the Lumnah acres family and friends. Al, what a poor sales pitch for your equipment, you told us ALL the BAD things about them, I said to myself, who will want to buy these ! Now at the end I see you have traded them in for better equipment, GOOD JOB Al !!

This was a well balanced review. Along with telling what it was that you didn't like about the Bobcats, you gave a full list of what you did like about them. This was a great video for someone considering this type of equipment. I can see how for the right person, with the right terrain living in an area with Bobcat servicing nearby it would be perfect. Also, if you didn't have all the other types of equipment that versatile one could be a great piece of equipment that would have gotten a lot of use.
Great Day in the Morning 🌄 🙌 😊 !!! Gina Secret Garden will go faster next Year with the New Equipment !!! Carry on Brother !!! And stay Warm up there !!! 😊😊😊
Sad to see the equipment go, but they're going to a new home where they will do a lot of improvements for their new owners. That's what I'm telling myself. Thanks for the education on the bobcat equipment. That's good information for my future homestead needs. One less mistake I'll have to learn...maybe. never say never. Love how Brutus tries to help you do your work. He's like a three year old trying to do his daddy's job.
Sounds like Bobcat embraced the Apple business philosophy of having a closed ecosystem for parts and attachments. While it ensures consistent performance, it also locks your money into their system of suppliers.
They all do the same. Only issue with BobCat is the lack of local part stores that stock parts & repair shops for BobCat. the same issues with proprietary for all equipment mfgs. Deere is probably the worst of the lot, since they have closed the computer lockout codes, requiring you to bring in your machine just to find out the computer error code, & Deere charges something like $500 just have it scanned. Often the computer will lock the machine out for something minor, like a loose fuel tank cap. Insanity.
Long time watching and wonder why the sales talk just to have them already traded in on another piece of equipment. Great to have a new piece of equipment. Let's hope it will be able to make some pastures and hay fields in the future. Those cows need more area and a hay source. Thanks for the bobcat info Al
I'm happy for you that you are getting something to work better for you. I thought you were trying to sell it, and talking about It too much. Now I get it. Best of luck with it. Love and prayers from NC
Good morning y'all, even though I have a place in the city and in the country & I have antique equipment. I'm glad you mentioned that bobcat being a proprietor definitely makes a difference on parts and accessories Congratulations on your new equipment.
Don't know that he did take that great of care of his equipment. Never parked them in out of the weather and didn't even power wash them before they were loaded on the trailer. Just my observation.
You certainly got your moneys worth out of the E42. That was a workhorse on the homestead from day 1. As you were talking about all of the projects, I remember them all.
While strong smells can repel mice for a short time, mice can adapt to the smell of dryer sheets over time . Ammonia is a good deterrent, just mix equal parts ammonia and water in a spray bottle and spray areas ☺
I totally agree with you on the use of an excavator. We have property and laid power / water/ septic lines, you name it, we've used it for everything. When logging off some trees the bucket is of use to budge and give a bit of push to the base and bottom to take out the roots along with the rest of the whole tree........or it can stabilize something higher up to help with several situations. We couldn't keep the property manually up by any means at our age any longer. It's always been the biggest asset........especially needing a thumb. A MUST! You are correct, they pay for themselves! Excited to see what you got and how you like it. We need to upgrade or something that is a bit bigger than what we have now. Absolutely can't wait to see what you got!!! Congratulations, always an exciting adventure with new machinery. 🙂
Boy! The rude comments today from viewers! When I'm explaing things to other people I like to be thorough as you and Gina do. So, I will often forget something that was important and restate all of the details so I know they are complete. Seeing that you both do that, which is proof your channel is real, not fake, ought to comfort viewers. All I can say is that when they react the way they did on here today, I feel like my time is wasted on them, to instruct them properly. After that, I tend not to pay any attention to them anymore. For myself, I like being educated, not entertained. These others who talked down about this episode, they need to be reminded why you chose to do these episodes at all, for mass educational benefit. You are both helping so many people and THAT is whats important to you.
This is not meant to be a rude comment, but the main motivation for the videos is to generate income to support everything they do on the homestead. If you happen to learn something from the video, then that is great.
To an extent I agree with what you are saying. I personally like this site very much. I watch it to see the work being done, not to listen to them talking needlessly. They do have another site where three of them talk and I don't visit it. But you do have to take into account the fact that they don't sell anything they produce, so apart from the coffee, this is their only source of income, and they don't do too much of it, so no complaints from me. I do hope that they haven't bought John Dere stuff.
Well that Bobcat equipment was fine for starting the farm but once in the property was explored it changed the plans, to many large boulders and abundance of water, septic system ,and electric lines to install, with undersized equipment. With your upgrades it will be more efficient with the expansion needs for a larger production and animal control and safety. Great planning as usual. 👍👍🙏
I think that all of our major N.A. brands are very serious about protecting the value of their brands and supporting their customers. It appears that JD made an error in their repair decision but I don’t think that action has any impact on tractors for homesteads. I was an offshore long distance boater for years and I can say that unequivocally John Deere was the engine of choice for continuous duty use where you were in harms way crossing oceans. We had two such boats with JD engines, put thousands of hours on them; and they never let us down.
It's past time you graduate to big boy equipment for your 500 acre property. It never made any sense acquiring a stair-step collection of hobby-sized tractors as so many YT homesteaders seem to do through sponsorhip deals. Just get a good used real machine at auction and it's yours for decades. They sell cheap because the transport isn't cheap. Earthwork in your rock-infested area needs serious machinery. Something with a solid old engine may not have cup holders or USB charge ports in the cab but you won't be overreaching with hobby gear on your builds any more. At least you don't have to hide that ToolCat behind the shop and never speak of it any longer.
Gee Al ,could hardly keep up with your fast talking! To much coffee this morning! The new equipment you replace it with will no doubt be a big improvement! What happened to the other two dogs?
I remember you putting in solar panels… building the scaffolding to put the panel on… it was good learning…❤ I’ve watched you and Gina build your homestead …

You talk about Bobcat being proprietary for parts and attachments, don't John Deere, they're even worse!!
thats why we traded our 2 deeres and got a kubota l4760 and case 145 wich we got $50,000 on one deere and $79,000 6120m

G’day 😊 you gotta do what ya gotta do. I’m sure you have more exciting projects in store where you can put that money to good use 👍
Goooooooood Morning Agnes
Good morning, everyone!!
Goooooooood Morning Chris
Good morning, Chris!
Good morning Chris!
Good morning ❤😊
You got a lot accomplished with what you had.
Never thought moving old equipment on would be interesting, always enjoyable. Cheers.

Awesome , can't wait to see the new equipment ! Thanks for sharing !!!!!
Good Morning Al and Gina. 🌞 Can't wait to see what equipment was dropped off and your next farm project. God Bless your family. 🙏🤗
Good morning y'all, even though I have a place in the city and in the country & I have antique equipment. I'm glad you mentioned that bobcat being a proprietor definitely makes a difference on parts and accessories Congratulations on your new equipment.
Happy weekend !!
🌹🌹🌹🌹
Happy Weekend to you too!❤😊
Good morning, and have a wonderful day
Good morning! Hope you have a wonderful day too!❤😊
Don't know that he did take that great of care of his equipment. Never parked them in out of the weather and didn't even power wash them before they were loaded on the trailer. Just my observation.
You certainly got your moneys worth out of the E42. That was a workhorse on the homestead from day 1. As you were talking about all of the projects, I remember them all.
Can't wait to see the new machine!! I wonder what it is! 😉
Selling the equipment seems like a great idea, out with the old in with the new😊😮⭐️🌟☃️
It's coming up to tax time, that's why
Bye Bye Bobcat.
Be sure to read the Operator's Manual for the new machine so when you present it to us your on top of all the functions 💚👍🐮🐔🐷
Gooood morning all !
Goooooooood Morning Jan
Good morning ❤😊
@@beckiepatrick6900 Good morning! ❤😃
Hi Beckie! Have a great Thanksgiving!
Wasn't a fan of todays video. Hopefully back to normal viewing next week.
Even his normal videos are boring, same sh!t, different day
Good morning Lumnah family. AL, your "I'm getting a new toy" energy is showing!! Lol! Excited for ya.
Ohhh GOODY, NEW TOYS (-:
Nothing wrong with upgrading. God bless.
I think he will be working out a deal on something like a XCMG 160 series excavator from SR1
Al, you are such a tease! Can't wait to see the new equipment.
Good morning Lumnah Acres!
Good morning, Carol!
Goooooooood Morning Carol

Gee Al ,could hardly keep up with your fast talking! To much coffee this morning! The new equipment you replace it with will no doubt be a big improvement! What happened to the other two dogs?
The older two dogs mostly stay inside now. Pluto is the oldest and she just likes to lay on the couch. Have a great weekend!
Good morning Modern Steaders!
Goooooooood Morning Frances
Good morning ❤😊
Thank you for the excellent info.
Short answer - I will not be buying bobcat (its like John Deere tractors, I guess)
I remember you putting in solar panels… building the scaffolding to put the panel on… it was good learning…❤ I’ve watched you and Gina build your homestead …

Sorry for the thumbs down, I live in a condo in Windsor Ontario, and 77 years old. I love watching you build things as it reminds me of my days back on the farm, and wishing I was in my 30's when I could do things. Kept up the good work around your farm. Take care and be safe this old man in Ontario Canada.
