Another thing to add is to never have them on when it's bright out. It will burn out the tubes. You can have them on during daylight if you have special caps for them to train in the day.
I’m confused are we supposed to take the batteries out while in use to? Also when we’re storing after use is it ok to keep the batteries in the actual unit? Thanks
I have some corrosion in my battery tube. How can I get it out? The battery was in for 9 days from the factory. I bought 123A batteries and they don't fit. Do you think the NVGs the Taliban have will last or break down quickly? Unless they sell it to some other country
Lithium batteries offer better shelf life, much less chance of leakage/corrosion, longer run time, and function in temperature extremes that alkalines don’t. It’s very cold 3/4 of the year here, I only run lithiums in my nvds, lights, optics, GPS, etc.
What issues can arise if you leave your batteries in NVGs? I’ve always stored my pvs14 with the AA battery in it. I know under extreme heat a battery can explode and erode components, but I’ve always stored everything in a cool dry place. Are there other factors I’m not aware of? Thanks in advance!
I'm only two days into having NVGs, but from my understanding batteries can leak, and removing them negates that possibility as well as the ill effects of negligently leaving the system on and burning the tubes.
Its not only leaking or exploding batteries, if you leave the batteries in you can accidentally leave the NVG's turned on. Leaving them turned on carries a host of risks.
@@Lunch_Peak Over a year later and I still leave my batteries in. It's probably a stupid decision overall, but no issues yet. I enjoy the capability to pick up my equipment and go to work with no hesitation. I recommend NO one "heed my order" on this exact topic.

"Take your freaking batteries out." Words to live by.
They probably had to service a ton of NVGs bc people kept their batteries in them lol
Another thing to add is to never have them on when it's bright out. It will burn out the tubes. You can have them on during daylight if you have special caps for them to train in the day.
Man this was the short concise video that we all needed. Thank you so much.
what about these internet no-evertyhings claiming your system needs to be nitrogen purged often?
I do it about as often as I Nitrogen purge my other scopes. Never.
By the book yes several times a year, in actuality it’s not something you need to do.
Are lens caps necessary to protect the tubes, or are they only vulnerable to excessive light when they’re turned on?
I’m confused are we supposed to take the batteries out while in use to? Also when we’re storing after use is it ok to keep the batteries in the actual unit? Thanks
Lol wut!? No, he is saying take the batteries out when you are done using them i.e. for storage

Leaves much to learn. This is why I love trex videos so much more. You learn more than just take “your batteries out.”
If you think you need much more than this, then TREX Arms is wasting your time, unless you like the sound of Lucas’ voice.

No battery=no corrosion and reduces the chance of accidentally powering on during the day.
