Thankyou for the memorys,, My wife was a women who was not afraid of having fun and could CATCH clean and cook CRABS,... fish too...and would beat me on lobster every time !!! YOU ALL HAVE FUN
Awesome video guys. I'm moving back to home to Florida next month and cant wait to take the kids to do these kinds of activities like I did when I grew up there.
Thank you very much! It's a great hobby. What we did for the traps which I didn't put in the video, we bought chicken at the store, put it in the trap in the water and then went to go crabbing. 3-4 hours later, we came back and retrieved our traps and I think we got about 9 crabs that day.
I grew up in Amityville L.I. N.Y.My family fished and crabbed on the Great South Bay in Amityville. This is how we caught our crabs, with a dip net. Only difference is we went at night using a flashlight to spot the crabs when they attached their selves to the side of a dock. When we jack lighted a crab we then just scooped it off the pier piles etc. nice vid brings back memories
thanks im moving to the coast and was wondering how to do this, yall gave me lots of useful information. plus happy surprise to see someone else in the south using the same amount of old bay my dad uses! yall must be from maryland lol. Thanks again
I really appreciate and enjoyed your video on crabbing. You've made everyone feel like they're out with you guys. Thank you for sharing your time. Next crab feast try steaming them in a good extra stout beer, along with the Old Bay.
we used to do this so much in panama city and bay county. hundreds each day! We used a recipe from a thai women that was married to a friend. lots of garlic cloves, paprika, thyme and olive oil. Then saute' hot - not water at all - for about 10 minutes depending on size of batch and pot. We would place then in upside down - their backs on the bottom. The spices and herbs and flavors are better absorbed that way the women said. Then add in some sweet white wine - not a lot. Salt and pepper and some red pepper flakes. Do this at about 9am and FEAST. Then drink the rest of the wine and go back to bed. At about 4pm, go snorkeling for oysters, stone crab claws, scallops and more crab. Then at 7pm, DIG IN again - but more beer.
this looks like a lot of fun! i crab every summer with traps up here in the chesapeake bay, and must say im glad to see someone for once steaming crabs with old bay in florida! lol Im moving to Boca this summer and was hoping to find somewhere to catch blue crabs but not to many spots on the atlantic side of florida i suppose. Anyway nice video, thanks
Nice video but can i suggest getting a couple 8-12' nets we use them up here on the Jersey Shore when we dip net them. Makes it a lot easier and keeps from spooking them so easily
down here in Louisiana most people just add crab seasonings, potatos, corn on cob, onions, ect to water and boil, then add crabs boil for 10 mins, then let soak a length of time depending on how spicy you want them
Great video. Must have been hard to go through all those trees into a larger body of water. What was the song playing at the end of video? Really put a nice end to the video.
I usually tie a string to a uncooked chicken leg and toss it in the water. When I feel something tug on it I pull it in and there is a Blue Crab hanging on. Be careful of the pinchers but just shake it off in a bucket. Works for me.
+ghostofmars83 If you're using old bay, the classic way is to steam the crabs, Use equal parts beer, water and vinegar, steam for 20ish minutes, and bam, good to go. They wont be as water logged as when you boil them. You can also throw in pieces of corn/ red potato pieces in the bottom of the pot as well. That's the Maryland way to cook crabs.
ghostofmars83 no problem, just a modification, use a bit more water than beer, also you don't have to use good beer, old bud or Miller works just fine, and be sure to layer old Bay on each layer of crabs.
Thank you! I just used a Sony Cyber Shot camera to film it. I'm pretty much an amateur when it comes to making videos, but thank you for the compliment! :)
awesome video, i grew up in florida and did this a lot. what kind of range can you expect with that motor setup on a full tank of gas, i've always used a kayak but that looks cool
Awesome video! Really love that Indian River setup. Do you ever see full sized boats out in those bays? And i think I found your spot on Google Earth (but I won't tell!)
You should bring some pruner shears with you next time and open up that spider alley!! awesome video thanks for sharing your adventure! I live in Connecticut and have a canoe similar to yours.... Im dying to try crabbing out of it like you guys! Great vid
Hey. I live in Naples and have tried crab fishing lately with no luck, I plan to go down 41 tomorrow, but we do not have a canoe, anywhere you suggest ??
If you want to catch big crab with little expense, try rigging a crab line.A crab line is just like a trout line,a long stretch of twine with your bait tied every 20 ft. or so and anchored at both ends.Do not use hooks for your bait, tie it in a fashion where the bait can be discarded if you wish or put the whole set up in a bag and freeze it for future use.The way it works is,you're gonna need a pole with a descent size nail through one end to make like a hook on the end of the pole to catch the line and when the crab gets close to the water surface scoop him up with a net.I'm sure you've heard the big dog eats first? Same thing with crabs, the big ones eat first.Hell I've caught them three at a time with this method.I used to be a commercial fisherman and used this exact method in places where there were poachers in the area stealing money off my table when I was trying to feed my family and pay bills. This method works excellent on the beach or long stretches of stream bank especially if you're on foot with no boat. This fishing method has been employed for ages and it works great.
+phi nguyyen Doing this during the Florida rainy season is almost impossible because all of the fresh water being dumped into brackish water. This pushes all of the crabs further south towards the gulf into the saltwater. Plus, the water gets so high and disturbed that it's hard to see the crabs at all.
i dig your chick, man. very cute and kinda hard core. if y'all do any other kind of fishing you shld put up some more vids. looked like a lovely day and ended w/a great supper :) . and for pete's sake stop letting her deal w/the spiders. i'm w/her: snakes, gators, etc...? no problem. spiders? little bit of a problem :p
Nice video , that's my favorite way to catch crabs . Get some crab season from , J.O. Spice Co. in Maryland. Get the #2 for steaming crabs . They will ship to you . I've been using it for years . Better than straight Old Bay .
awsome video, is there a size requirement for the crabs, and do you need a special license to crab hunt. i heard the female crabs you have to throw back. great video.
To catch Blue Crabs like we did, with just nets, you just need a regular recreational fishing license. More specific details about the licenses, especially with using crab traps, can be found at the Florida Fish and Wildlife website. (RUclips won't let me post the url for it in the comments.)
Try this next time, Clean them then get some fish fry and your favorite cajun seasoning, put a little fish fry and ALOT OF seasoning and then fry them, we call that BBQ crabs down here for some reason, then i also clean them spray them with olive oil and favorite cajun seasoning, cook them on there backs on open flame pit on HIGH flame for a couple minutes each, both ways are delicious
BEAUTIFUL WOMAN IN THE MIDDLE OF NO WHERE AND ALL HE WANTS TO DO IS EAT SANDWICHES AND CATCH CRABS. WORRIED ABOUT YOU BROTHER. LOL GREAT VIDEO YOU TWO. GOD BLESS
don't you go all the awy out and come back the same way? there were a lot of large slightly deeper parts, why not set a trap and pick it up on the way back? you don't have to leave it overnight when someone will steal, but maybe just for a couple hours while you dip net.
Bishop Clarke True, but the risk of having our crab traps stolen, which has happened already, and the thrill and fun of it makes for an enjoyable activity that we both love to share.
Lol...I stand corrected. I live 5 minutes from Lake Ontario, I too enjoy being out on the waters. I will trade you some Large mouth bass for some blue crabs ???
infinitesunmoonstars I see it like going fishing for the day no waste, you eat what you catch, minus the risk of snakes and other painful critters :) Good video, thanks for sharing.
Excellent video, guys! Damn near professional with the video quality and lack of annoying background noise.
love that the people in Florida are now doing what us in Maryland started
Thankyou for the memorys,, My wife was a women who was not afraid of having fun and could CATCH clean and cook CRABS,... fish too...and would beat me on lobster every time !!! YOU ALL HAVE FUN

Very cool video. Looks like a good time.
I really appreciate and enjoyed your video on crabbing. You've made everyone feel like they're out with you guys. Thank you for sharing your time.

I am your 1,000th subscriber!
It was like a scene from the movie "African Queen" as they were walking their boat through the mangroves.
this looks like a lot of fun! i crab every summer with traps up here in the chesapeake bay, and must say im glad to see someone for once steaming crabs with old bay in florida! lol Im moving to Boca this summer and was hoping to find somewhere to catch blue crabs but not to many spots on the atlantic side of florida i suppose. We did get lost the first time we went out there but now we know the place very well. :)
Nice video but can i suggest getting a couple 8-12' nets we use them up here on the Jersey Shore when we dip net them. Makes it a lot easier and keeps from spooking them so easily
I've been through those mangroves. It's also where I got over my fear of spiders because I really had no choice.
if u just put a bunch of seasoning in the water it steams the flavor in to them better than putting it on top of there shell
down here in Louisiana most people just add crab seasonings, potatos, corn on cob, onions, ect to water and boil, then add crabs boil for 10 mins, then let soak a length of time depending on how spicy you want them

I'd say she is a keeper, along with the crabs. Lucky man, and she is quite pretty also. Love this vid!
this guy is crazy if he don't ask you, because your perfect.
I hav never seen Blue Crabs cooked like this. In South Carolina, we boil them in water with the Old Bay Seasoning. Great Video by the way...

Craig Fox Thanks so much! I am going to try cooking it the way you suggest. Keep up the awesome videos!

Thank you! I just used a Sony Cyber Shot camera to film it. I'm pretty much an amateur when it comes to making videos, but thank you for the compliment! :)
Great video you two!
the best part of crabbing would be spending the day with you.....lucky man
awesome video, i grew up in florida and did this a lot. what kind of range can you expect with that motor setup on a full tank of gas, i've always used a kayak but that looks cool
great video! Don't have anything like that in the saltwater variety up here, unfortunately.
Had no idea after living in Lauddy for 13 years there were Blues in the Glades.. intercoastal canals yes but not Glades.. awesome
Cool vid! keep them coming!
Awesome video! Really love that Indian River setup. Do you ever see full sized boats out in those bays?

Those are Mangrove trees. It is illegal to cut them as they are an integral part of the ecosystem there. The fines are not cheap at all.
i didnt know that!
Knowing is half the battle
Madison Webster so true
Try the D.E.P dock in Old Saybrook 5 to 6 in her down there
We love watching your video!... nice!..
we do crabbing too...
I want to go there! Looks fun
That is freaking awesome! Do you fish that bat as well? Very very cool.
love me some blue crab. it's good for ceviche or crab salad to.
Not being familiar with the Everglades,I would call this a suicide mission because of the alligators. You guys are brave.
great video
You're nuts for going in that water. Gators and snakes. No thanks. I give you credit for fishing crabs.
Are you guys near Miami or what? Where might one find access to mangroves and bays like this?
me and my family love old bay too. its good stuff
Us41? Over west in Miami we know it as CALLE OCHO!!!! Great vid

So wanna go craving now looks like fun but a mission to go to the spot for the crab
Nice video , that's my favorite way to catch crabs . Get some crab season from , J.O. Spice Co. in Maryland. Get the #2 for steaming crabs . They will ship to you . I've been using it for years . Better than straight Old Bay .
Yeah ....lucky guy.
Wife who enjoys the outdoors .
Great vid. Old Bay is ok. But you should give J.O. #2 crab spice a try - it's what we use up here in MD.
Do you have to clean the crabs or do you throw them from the cooler into the pot? What part of the crab do you eat? Thanks
awsome video, is there a size requirement for the crabs, and do you need a special license to crab hunt. i heard the female crabs you have to throw back. great video.

Great Job!! Nom! Nom!..Looks Good..I'm Sure You Enjoyed..Thanks For Sharing.*
Yall are better than me. Everglades are NOTORIOUS for frickin SNAKES and Gators. BIG GATORS. It's no way in hell I would do that.
Old bay is fir shrimp and crabcakes. J.O. is for steamed crabs
WWOOOOWW!!! you people are crazy!!!
What I do to get crabs is I get a small fish and I skip it along the bottom
BEAUTIFUL WOMAN IN THE MIDDLE OF NO WHERE AND ALL HE WANTS TO DO IS EAT SANDWICHES AND CATCH CRABS. WORRIED ABOUT YOU BROTHER. LOL GREAT VIDEO YOU TWO. GOD BLESS
Man shut the fuck up u pervert! what do u think he's going to film his business or talk about sex on a crabbing video?? smh...some people i tell ya!!
He brought her along so that the Smokey would see her and forget about checking their licenses ;)
I usually take my pet gator with me when I go crabbing
Great video.. Can you post more !
Oh alligators *grabs 12gauge now we can go
Great Vid. Your a lucky man a true partner!
I never understood why people sprinkle old bay seasoning on top of a crab, it's not like the seasoning gonna soak in the meat.
nice job
Wow so cool 😮
did you wash them before cooking them?
Is this bracket water or freshwater?
They go from the cooler into the pot and we pretty much eat everything that is edible, except for the guts.
Did you ever encounter any crocs or alligators?
What's in the bottom of the water? I don't mud on your feet, I assume it's all sand, yes??
do y'all know a couple good spots to go to catch crabs in miami?
hixung17 Unfortunately no. When we go catch crabs, we always stay in Collier county.
I'm sure there are, and other poisonous snakes, but every time we've been out there, we have yet to see any.
Just like we do it in Maryland :D
cooking with real salt water, hard to beat
don't you go all the awy out and come back the same way? there were a lot of large slightly deeper parts, why not set a trap and pick it up on the way back? you don't have to leave it overnight when someone will steal, but maybe just for a couple hours while you dip net.
Aww, thanks!
Look fun I wanna go there
VERY NICE THANKS..
I think setting some crab traps would have been more effective. These guys used to much time and energy for a few crabs.
Bishop Clarke True, but the risk of having our crab traps stolen, which has happened already, and the thrill and fun of it makes for an enjoyable activity that we both love to share.
