    @yzrippin Год назад +22

    The first two are really neat and useful however if you take a look at the catalytic converters on third Jen's there specifically put higher up into the engine bay so that they get hotter quicker this means you literally can't cut them out that would be keeping an eye on those transmission temperatures since you have just now shrouded the whole thing

    • @brarautorepairs
      @brarautorepairs Год назад +5

      The transmission is primarily cooled with the transmission fluid which passes the heat into a transmission cooler. Newer transmissions often have thermostatic valves because the cooler is actually overly efficient at cooling the transmission. I wouldn't worry too much about the cooling from a change of airflow around the pan.

    • @yzrippin
      @yzrippin Год назад +1

      @@brarautorepairs you're funny trying to sound cute smart why don't you do some research on tacomaworld because not even half Tacoma's currently produce on the market come with the transmission cooler you're referring to and many of them despite having that many of them find transmission fluid temperature getting a bit too hot when towing or crawling hard Offroad

      @YZ Rippin, the cooler is often seamlessly integrated into the radiator but you will still notice a set of trans cooler lines either at the bottom or sides of the radiator. If you are unfamiliar with maintaining modern automatic transmissions, it is understandable to not notice this as it usually is difficult to see.

    • @dillzilla4454
      @dillzilla4454 Год назад +2

      Wrong material though. Everyone who is stealing cats already have an angle grinder. They are just going to cut right through it. The better option would be to use kevlar. It's not as pretty looking but if anyone were to try to use your usual power tools on it they will get a bunch of fibers caught in it and have their tools burn up.

    • @1windozesuk
      @1windozesuk 4 месяца назад

      The cat shield is not to completely prevent cat theft, but it adds another layer of security. Smart cat thieves are looking for in and out quickly. They could spend more time on that or hit 2 other vehicles in the same time and reduce the chance of being caught.

    Soo I’m just gonna throw this out there, cat thieves generally use a saws all in order to cut the pipe. Their just gonna cut one side of that shield pull it down and then go to the pipes. Hopefully it doesn’t happen to your truck but I’m just telling you what I’ve seen.

    • @the7311

      Although that is true. These thieves look for easy targets. Of course anyone can break into anything but if it takes longer than just snipping and leaving they won’t do it. No point in struggling to remove cat when the car park right next to this one has no shield.

    I think the cat shield is pointless most thieves just use a grinder. I think you'd be happier if you connected your cats with some form of quick disconnect. Cause then you're only replacing the converters themselves, not the converters, and the chunk of your exhaust. That was cut off to get them out quickly.

    That one mod on the tailgate is cool, but not needed if you lock the gate with the key. It is an issue, as if you use the remote ONLY to lock the truck, that gate is so easy to remove, if you don't stick the key in and turn it once to the right. But if you do--then test it, you will find they can't take the gate.

    Definitely agree with the tailgate lock. …if you have a tonneau cover (didn’t pay attention) I also agree with the cat guard, that’s been an issue in my city.
    But the tailgate anti removal thing?? Wtf lol. That’s just one thing I personally have never seen, and I live in a place where it’s 80% trucks.
